It was a strange signature and one he could not ignore. Sitting atop the roof of Jay's Jewelers and hearing pre-mature Christmas music play, he was in the middle of thinking what he'd make for Thanksgiving. It would be his first one alone. His first time sitting alone at the table. Alone in his apartment and thinking of his mother doing the same thing. Soul crushing is what it was, and he was doing this in the middle of the night as he was telling himself he was making use of himself by patrolling. And that's when he noticed the signature and decided that it was better than waiting around making himself miserable - not that the n** in the air wasn't helping with that.

Turning, he headed off, wondering if this was another oddball senshi or ...well, it was a bit odd. Was this a cat? He couldn't be sure. It wasn't the sort of blip on his mental power radar that he usually got, but it sang out and it made him curious. Still, he'd keep his distance as he wasn't really feeling it. Tired. Maybe he was coming down with something. Who knew.

Moving further away from late night traffic, the sound of music, the heavy glow of lights, he started to follow the beacon of power slipping through the curtains of night, passing through the downtown distract and moving in some direction that made him wonder if it was going to some great destination. When he stopped above a roof, he paused, and then crouched, and then looked down. It was somewhere here. He kept his eye peeled.

Legs swung from a second-story balcony of a condemned apartment building as Lina Knight glowed softly in the night air. Her foot was twitching to some beat playing in her head, eyes skimming the street with the scouter over one eye. Information was scrolling before that eye, gathered information that she was trying to filter and put to some sort of use. A light blip of sound next to her ear alerted the knight that though the street was quiet, she was no longer alone.

The bluenette tipped her head forward so that the bridge of her forehead rested against the cool metal, eyes skimming the night for the power signature laying on her senses. It was still not entirely possible for her to differentiate between Chaos and Order in her magical sense; everything was still quite fuzzed. Lina was despairing that she would ever truly again be able to tell those minute differences that had been like breathing to her.

"Hello down there. Can I help you?"

Wolframite knew it was near, but he in no way thought it was right above him. At the voice, he jerked and nearly slid off the roof he was holding on too in his panic to summon his weapon, and instead slipped on the metal shingles before regaining his balance. Turning, he held his blades and looked up, reading to cut anyone who would get near him. He didn't like surprise attacks or strange signatures getting within striking distance.

Yet, he was even more surprised to see who he was looking at.

If he hadn't seen Lina back in Space, he might have confused her for some foreign cousin, but there were little things. Probably things that if he was passing her without fully knowing it was her, he might have not guessed, but as he was assured it was her by Zink, he could tell. The blue hair, the curve of a jaw, and those eyes. There had been certain things Wolframite had noted when he was a fresh lieutenant looking up to his team leader and captain. Someone he had wanted to gain respect the moment he was introduced to her team. Someone he looked up to as being a superior who knew the ropes.

And yet, now, it seemed what he thought of her was in some gray area. He couldn't create a fresh slate, and yet she was different. Changed. In a uniform he couldn't even start to like, though on a person he had once respected.

"Lina?" He called back in disbelief. Did she even remember him?

Her head tilted lightly from one side to the other, very much like the owls she adored so much; perhaps it was deliberate? Hands gripped the roof as her body slid downwards towards the next-nearest roof, hitting it with a clatter though her weight was perfectly stuck into the landing. The knight was incredibly careful to move slowly towards the Negaverse officer, hands loose at her sides to show that not only they were empty, she meant no harm.

She just wanted a closer look.

Brushing the blue curls the breeze had pushed into her face back again from her face, Lina tilted her head again one more time. "Wolframite? I barely recognize you..." Her smile was a little hesitant as he was armed and she remembered so very little about this dark, pale young man. For instance she quite remembered him having two eyes but was sure this was something that she should have known about. A niggling feeling in the back of her mind that she knew what happened but it was a knowledge lost to her forever.

Frustrating, but she wouldn't let it get the best of her. "You've moved up in the world too, haven't you?"

She still seemed so much like herself, and if ti wasn't for the news, the uniform, or the energy radiating off her body, he would think they were just talking as they usually would. Crossing paths between patrolling and just catching up. It was still hard talking to her. He didn't know her to the extent as others could, but they talked, and ever since she came to the hospital to see him, he felt close to her despite that lack of time spent together.

He lowered his weapon a fraction.

"I wish I could say the same for you, but you've moved down." He regarded her outfit and had liked her old one better. What had they done to her?

"Promotion. General now...just like you. Well, what you used to be." Despite being on different sides, he still hoped she would be proud he had moved up in rank. He still wished for her to notice him as an officer worth of being a Negaverser.

"Oh, and the hair. That's ...that's from the BMC." He added, not knowing if she meant he looked different because of his hair, or maybe the pale, slenderness of his body from long patrols. He grew up a bit too. A tad taller - and not just because of the heels.

The BMC sparked the nightmarish memories and the feelings with it, and he regarded her again, this time with narrowing eyes. "And you? What....what are you now? What happened?" How could she - HOW did they - make her this?

It would take a bit more than quiet disapproval to make Lina Knight bend in shame beneath the weight of 'what she'd done'. The grimace that came to her face at mention of the BMC though was thoroughly genuine, that sorrow clear in her eyes as she looked at the close-cropped black hair of her former Captain. "I'm sorry I wasn't there. I don't really know how much Tanzanite tells about what happened to me but I had no idea you'd been taken, everyone was quietly hiding that information from me. Zinkenite says it's because they all thought I'd go out and get myself killed again." Shoulders shrugged. "I basically did that anyway and for less noble a cause."

But she wasn't going to be sorry for it, damn it! No matter what happened between her and Prince Castor, no matter how many senshi turned up their noses and refused to understand that she'd changed, no matter how many times Tanz killed someone she loved...until there was no one left...no. She was not going to be sorry when it finally felt like it mattered! "Lina Knight of Mercury. Equivalent in rank to you, it simply feels different from what I used to be." Yes there was a little less power there, definitely less strength, but Wolframite didn't need to know that.

Lina's lips did turn upwards as she mentioned being equivalent in rank to Wolframite. "All of my kids are growing up without me. I told Zink through the wall that while a part of me ached for him, a large part of me was proud. You kept yourself going this long...and I'll save you from the darkness. Just like they saved me." Dismissed as a fanatic, that was what she was always going to be.

Maybe she should have renamed herself Cassandra.
