It was finally the weekend there hadn't been much time for catching up with everyone just yet and that's what everyone was busy doing now. But not Attor, Attor was in the dorm room laying in his bed staring at the ceiling in a daze. Only breaking this stillness to rub the scars on his hands an odd habit he had formed as their texture felt odd to him.
His mind wandered to what his friends might be doing right now. And why wasn't he out having fun with them....perhaps his mind was to preoccupied with with his summer location problems. His aunt was a crazy old bitty and he had seen some things in her shop he was sure to be illegal. Now Attor had a curiosity about these things, but he sure didn't want to be messing around with them or be associated with them right now.
Attor blinked trying to forget that horrid smelling place and his mind went to his snakes. Most were still alive but his biggest one had given their life for his. He wasn't sure if it had been on purpose of if his father's loudness and fast movements had startled his beloved snake into jumping at Attor's father just at the right moment. Attor liked to think it was on purpose though, to feel like someone other then his mother truly cared for him so deeply. His mother too had put an end to the madness by knocking his father out with a spell and helping him pack to leave. His father was crazy that's all there was to it.

Tynan had been in the library working on some papers. He had noticed that his friend Attor had been...distant and quiet. His new scars on his face had him worried about what might have happened over the summer with his friend. He moved back to the Common room and moved up to the dorm he and Attor shared with two other students. He looked at Attors bed and smiled softly.
Putting his stuff down he moved to the side of his friends bed and looked at him. "Hey Attor. whats up you look confused about something....Do...you need help with homework?" he asked wondering if his friend was stuck on something for one of his classes. "Are you having any fun since coming back? I don't think i've seen you...out and about since school started this year..." he said softly. He didn't talk much unless it was with his best friend Attor, and the one or two others he had made but he still only really talked to Attor the most.

It seemed to take awhile for Attor to even register that Tynan was in the room talking to him. He also had to take a moment to replay what had been said. He rubbed his hands again before speaking. "No I finished my homework for the weekend already..." Attor sat up feeling a little light headed, but he really hadn't had a good chance to talk to Ty this year they had been so busy already.
"Not really as much as I had hoped to...I've not really wanting to be around many people and Hogwarts is a bad place for that......But its not all bad..... i guess. How about you Ty how have you been?" Attor's voice seemed distant and his eyes weren't quite back in this world yet. He was coming around, but he had been staring at the ceiling since breakfast and it was way past lunch now.

Ty looked at his friend and carefully sat on the bed with him, at the foot of the bed away from his friend so he didn't get too close to him should he not want to be around even Ty at the moment too much. He pushed his hair back and smiled. "Well i'm sorry that your not having a good time. I...I'll try to be around more so that we can hang out and i can help you feel better." he said as he looked at him and smiled.
His friend seemed to need someone to talk to and wasn't talking alot. "Oh well my...summer was ok. Dad was upset with me for not trying harder in my DADA class and i dunno...he was really hard on me over the summer and had me read alot of books." he said as he pushed his bangs back. "He made me go to...lots of partys with him to try and make more friends with Slytherins here but they all know of me from here and don't want to be friends with the nerdy Slytherin who should have been a Ravenclaw. I let the house down..." he said said as he sighed and looked at his friend. "Whats bothering you Attor. You seem upset since you don't even seem to want to eat or see anyone." he said as he looked up at his friend.

As Ty sat on the bed Attor's eyes seemed to finally find his friend. He smiled a bit noticing his friend's longer hair, it amused him for some reason. "Its not like its your fault Ty, I've been hiding...avoiding questions and stares...speaking of which the longer hair suits you I think." Attor commented still amused that it made him look like a girl, but he wouldn't make fun of his friend.
"Don't say that Ty, just cause you don't make friends with everyone here why do you think that's letting anyone down...its their loss I say." Attor said with this was the first time he had felt any of his old spunk. Ty made him feel like everything was ok and there was nothing to worry about. That's what best friends were supposed to do right?
Attor looked down at his hands after Ty's next question he rubbed the scars with his thumbs before looking back to Ty. "A lot....these scars were a present from my dad this summer....I think..." Attor looked to the door and around the room hoping no one was near by at all. "He was trying to do a lot worse..if it weren't for Quetzalcoatl.." Attor's fist clenched yesterday he had gotten the owl telling him his prized pet didn't recover from his injuries. "I found out yesterday Quetzalcoatl didn't make it.....that's why I've not felt like eating...." Attor sank into the bed again his eyes twitching wanting to tear up, but he wouldn't let them. He sniffled holding it all back. "I'm living with my aunt now...she's crazy....but mom is sending me lots of money so maybe I can get my own place or something...." That was a scary thought at 12 living alone. "But I might be to young for that...." Attor commented trying to stay normal and not emotional.

Ty looked at him and blushed as he touched his hair. "Oh thanks. I love it...Dad stopped paying attention to me so i'm growing it out cause hes given up on me i think." he said with a laugh as he looked at his friend and then shrugged. "Well i don't act like everyone else so am i not letting the name of Slytherin down by not acting like one i the first place? I mean I don't even do anything that makes me mean. I honestly don't know how i got into this house in the first place." he said as he looked up at him and was juist glad that he had Attor as such a good friend.
When Attor told him what happened...his dad? And Ty thought his father was bad. He leaned forward wanting to hold his friend who looked like he wanted to cry and bit his lip nervously. What did he do? Should he hug him and tell him something? But...was that weird....Ty wasn't sure how he felt one way or another about girls or boys but...he knew he wanted his best friend to feel better....So carefully he moved over to the head of the bed where Attor was and hugged him.
"I'm so very sorry about your snake. And your dad. I thought my dad was bad but he just ignores me and yells hes...." he looked at the scars and frowned. "I'm sorry." he said as he hugged Attor carefully. He pet his back and let him do what he needed to be done. He wondered....could....could he see if his father would let his best friend come stay with them? Would...would that be ok? He wasn't sure but he wanted to try..."Maybe...maybe my dad could let you stay with us? Do you want me to ask him?" he asked as he looked at Attor to see if he would like him to ask. "then...we could be like brothers you know..." he said softly.

"Oh Ty you really don't understand the Slytherin house do you.." Attor trailed off maybe later he could talk to Ty about this more, but right now he wasn't up to it. Attor looked down to his palms not noticing Tynan's movements. He didn't know what else to say at the moment.
Attor utterly froze as Ty hugged him, he caught his breath and after a moment he shivered a bit. No one had touched him since that night, he had even cleaned off his own wounds once he had reached his aunt's place. He felt frightened and confused all at the same time.
It wasn't till Ty spoke that Attor took small and quick breaths at first it seemed like he might be having a panic attack, but as suddenly as he had frozen he fell into Ty's arms and let his tears fall. Attor sobbed uncontrollably for the first time realizing that he was nothing but a scared 12 year old boy whose father had try to kill him, at least he was pretty sure that's what his father had tried to do. And he didn't even know why and his favorite companion was dead too. He hadn't seen his mother or other snakes since that night. And was not living in a hellish place. Attor didn't really hear everything Tynan was he was letting all the hysterics out now. He hadn't had time that night or any time since. Attor's mom had told him to run to his aunt's house and not turn back and that's what he had done. In fear that when his father woke up he might try and finish him.

Ty looked at his friend as he cried. He cried so hard that Tynan was honestly worried that his poor friend was going to throw up. He held him close and pet his back. "Its ok. Attor let it out. Its all going to be ok." he said over and over as he let the male cry. He felt his heart breaking but he couldn't help....feeling that this was good. this was ok. This is what his best friend needed over anything else. To have his best friend hold him while he cried. He felt that he wanted this always, for Attor to be there and be his best friend for ever and to come to him about anything. He rested with his friend against the pillows and just let him cry till he was done. Then he would ask him again cause he was sure he hadn't heard him ask about having him live with him.
When he had stopped crying he looked at his friend and smiled. "Do you want some cookies? My mom sent me some and some chocolates." he said wanting to help his friend feel better.

Once Attor had gotten a hold of himself his face was red as and apple the Irish in him shining through as clear as day now. He lay there trying to calm his breathing feeling defeated for letting himself go like this in front of anyone save his mother. But he could trust Ty he knew this so after awhile Attor just lay their breathing normal.
"No...Thank you." Attor managed finally still not looking directly at Ty. He rather had his snakes and his mother then a cookie that was for sure. "Thank you Ty...." Attor mumbled he had needed to cry like that for a long time. He needed to admit he was a child not an adult capable of handling this all by himself. "I think I need help, but I don't know what to do...." Attor whined a little at the end he really didn't know what to do.

Ty nodded and smiled. He sat up and looked at his friend. "I don't think you heard me a bit ago so i'll tell you again. If your ok with it i'd like to ask my father if you can live with us. Would you like that? We...we could be brothers. I think he would rather like you alot. Your probably like the son he always wanted. But then he could see atleast that i have a friend and maybe wont be so hard on me. And i wouldn't be alone...cause you would be there over the summers." he said with a smile.
"I...I have something i can give you to help you if you want...but don't let anyone else see it ok? I...Its kind of silly but it might help you feel better." slipping from the bed he hurried over to his bed and reached into his pillow case. He pulled out a stuffed animal form of a snake, that he had gotten enchanted to move and respond like a snake, with out all the having to eat things and poop and biting things. He brought it back over and handed it to Attor. "I...I miss my snake alot too. but shes not...you know..." he said not wanting to make his friend cry again. "You hold onto this. Its really comfy to sleep with and when your in class just tell it 'stay' and put it in your pillow case and it wont ever leave." he said with a smile.

Attor still didn't look at Tynan starting to feel ashamed for his crying fit. He pulled a pillow to himself and hugged it a bit feeling like it made him be less vulnerable in some weird way. It wasn't till Attor realized what Ty said did his eyes finally have the courage to meet with Ty's eyes. "I...."Attor still hated the idea of being a burden to anyone even though he was in need. "I would like that a lot....I can help somehow...round the house, with bills maybe or something? Anything your dad wants? Having you as a brother could be cool." Attor seemed to cheer up a little as he thought about spending his summers with a friend instead of being miserable.
Attor put his pillow down to take the snake from his friend. He rolled onto his back and held the little thing up watching it wrap itself on his hands. He stared at it for awhile before starting to smile. He placed it on his chest to watch it move around more free range. It was a moment before a smiled to Tynan. "Thanks Ty, its really cool and I think it might help my mood. Im happiest around snakes." Attor said smiling a little, with his friend , the snake plushie, and a bit of hope that he might now be going back to his aunt's was making him feel so much more free all the sudden.

Ty smiled at him and nodded. "I'll write my dad a letter tomorrow and i'll tell you when i hear something back from him ok?" he said as he looked at his best friend. "I think it would be really awesome to be brothers. I...I never had any and i don't think my mom can have anymore. Dad said i almost killed her as it was." he said as he looked at his friend as the toy snake settled on his chest and its felt tongue flicked in and out of its soft fabric mouth.
"Im sorry about your other snake. If dad lets you come over you can play with Nygiss. Shes my snake at home. When i went back over the summer she had gotten so big. Shes almost 4 feet. Shes so beautiful." He said with a smile as he thought about her. He would love tot have her with him now too but he was glad his toy he had was providing Attor with some comfort. He saw him perking up some and seeming a little like his old self. "Theres the Attor i know and am friends with! I'm glad i could help you to feel better." he said with a happy smile.

Attor didn't feel like talking any about his family in turn but he simply smiled at Tynan. He liked the idea of them being brothers and spending the summers together. It would be nice to have a friend outside of socially gatherings for once. "It would be so cool. I never have a friend around outside of social events during the summer. We could go camping even if its just in the house or something!" Attor said thinking over the things they could do. "I hope your dad says yes!" He was the type to count his chickens before they hatched and excitement was taking over her fears for the moment.
"Well I still have three more...but it was my 10 foot boy that lost his life for mine....I'll never forget him...he was my best friend sides you Ty. I would like to meet your Nygiss!.......Hey with my best friend around I guess I could only stay depressed for so long anyways it was bound to end." Attor laughed thankful for Ty. "You know what.....I'm gonna try out for Quidditch....I wasn't going to after everything that's happened, but I think I need to...how about you Ty you gonna try out with me?" Attor said while picking the enchanted snake plush up again.

Ty smiled a little and nodded. "Its going to be nice. I hope he lets you come. I want him to be ok with it. I want you at my house cause then i'll...not be alone. Nygiss will like you a lot too. I'm glad that you want to come to my place but we wont be able to have too much fun, maybe...i dunno if dad likes you he might let us have lots of fun." he said softly with a shrug as he looked at the snake with Attor.
He frowned as he heard about the snake. He felt really bad for him. Losing his poor snake like that and then not even being there when his best friend died! How sad! He wanted to hug him again but he wasn't sure how to, mostly cause he wasn't sure if he had used up all his comfy time before. he looked at the male and smiled "oh no....nooo i will not try. I'll cheer you on. I'll be your cheering squad and your biggest fan but i wont try. I'm not a flyer really and i don't like to play sports or anything." he said with a laugh as he smiled at him and looked at the snake as it seemed happy, or happy as a toy could look.

"Oh if he gives me a chance he will like me." Attor said sitting up getting a bit of his old spunk back. "Give me a week and I'll have him thinking were both perfect. If there is one thing that was schooled into me well is what adults want from kids." Attor stopped suddenly like everything had come crashing down again. His eyes narrowed and he touched the scar of his face. "I still don't understand why this all happened....I still don't know what I did wrong....my school work was done...my chores were done....my room was clean and there was still an hour before I was suppose to be in bed...." Attor said in a cold voice not understanding what had happened to make his father attack him like that. He sat there for a moment before seeming the to try to shake it off and smile again. "Doesn't matter why...its over now..."
"Ok that works for me, hey maybe they are looking for a new announcer? You could do that I bet!" Attor said smiling to his friend remembering how much he wanted to help Tynan break out of his shell. He knew deep down there was a different Ty then most of the world saw .
