Invictus had allowed a few days for a cool off after the field trip. Time for mourning, time for the Boogiemen to spread their propaganda of what had happened and to loom over the school as though it was a prison. Conquest had made very sure that any who watched him too carefully knew quite well what would happen if they...lingered and poked their nose into his business.
However, a Horseman's threat only held so much water. The heirs were quite young in comparison to the might of the elder's, but still.. they did have their own fearsome qualities.
He'd taken the time to actually write out - on proper paper with real ink and a seal - a letter of challenge to the Valkyrie who had stirred his ire. She had proclaimed she would be ready for him, and frankly even now that he was regaining some of himself she was... well, it wouldn't have been a challenge he would have made with a clearer mind. None the less, his word was his word, and he'd left the letter at her door before he went to wait in the Gym to see if she was still as stirred up as she had been before.

The challenge she had received from the Horsemen was always a constant thought in the back of the valkyrie’s mind ever since it was issued. Honestly, truthfully…Hel knew she could not and would not win this battle. She knew this the moment it had been issued, but she accepted it anyways. Why? Because she was stubborn, and she didn’t back down from a challenge, even when the odds were terribly against her. Showing up to this battle wasn’t so much about winning it…at this point it was more about being a bit of a thorn in the Horseman’s side. She still didn’t appreciate the way he and War had entered their room, and then forced them to their knees. So as futile as fighting him would be, she felt like she was still making a point…whatever that point would be.
After coming back from that field trip, Hel had taken the few days to recover and rest, still wondering about that challenge. Maybe she should go to him? Where would he be? She had no clue where to start, but she wouldn’t have to worry about it. There was a letter for her at her door. Her lips quirked as she red it, and she stowed the letter away carefully in her desk before heading out to meet the Horseman at the designated spot. The valkyrie appeared, her lips pulled into a bit of a wry smile as she was once again faced with the Heir to Conquest. The reaper held out her hand, summoning her spear, but did not make any move yet.
“I accept your challenge.”

"Good." he said dryly, not really mincing his words.
It seemed the Valkyrie hadn't decided to run away, nor had she brought reinforcements. Not that her mind her not having reinforcements. It really was better for him to be facing the issue that was at hand. Holding up his word and..well, allowing Hel to be the thorn in his side that she was wishing to be, from how she stood.
She stood tall and purposeful, and Invictus raised one fist directly out in front of him, bringing it down with a pull of gravity - though not strong of one to ground his opponent.
It was warning.

No, Hel was true to her word as well, and this battle was her own to fight, so it would be that way.
The reaper’s brows furrowed as the Horseman held out his hand, and she easily recognized the gesture. She grit her teeth as she felt a pull on her body, but not enough to send her to her knees this time. The ghoul stubbornly shook her head, clutching her spear tightly as she then pointed at the Horseman and cast a spell. She unleashed her Fear on him, though instead affecting him with exhaustion, it seemed to boost his battle capabilities instead.
The reaper let out a rather unlady-like curse. Jack damn it. Her fear had backfired!
HP: 30 – 2 = 28/30
Damage: Fear Attack – The Mind: Success! - changes your opponent's damage modifier from -6 to -5. Your move backfired! - affects your opponent's next two turns

"FEAR, is it?" Invictus said, the gripped fist suddenly going flat out in front of him. The atmosphere seemed to grow heavy around his hand before it suddenly compressed upon itself, several projectiles forming around it. After a moment, he drew back his other hand, as though it was being resisted by a string of a bow, the red and smoking debris around his hand beginning to shudder underneath the resistance.
And then he released the imaginary bowstring, releasing them.
It seemed unlike the other time he'd released that attack in the last while, his aim was actually...accurate.

Damn…she couldn’t believe her Fear backfired…in all places…of all battles!
Hel’s brows furrowed as she tense, watching as his hand went flat. That didn’t look like the gravity attack…her eyes widened as several projectiles formed, and before she even could muster the thought to leap into the air and fly, Invictus let the projectiles fly. Hel let out a snarl as they hit their mark and she staggered, leaning against her spear as she felt a good chuck of her Fear shield just get shattered.
She knew this was going to be one sided…but she didn’t think it was going to be this bad…
The ghoul pushed herself forward, lunging at the Heir to Conquest as she swung her spear at him. This was…pathetic…she couldn’t even land a decent hit.
HP: 28 – 17 = 11/30

Invictus lifted one arm to stifle the blow that was brought down upon him, his face remaining unchanged.
"You're talented." he said calmly, not really a compliment, but an observation. A plain 'ol observation. Though it wasn't with the same sort of tone he would have said it to his..pet project, but still, it was a comment worth noting.
"A bit hasty, but talented"
She was also within his range and, what would be the biggest surprise of all sort someone who normally just gravitied all the things... well.. Invictus had probably helped develop some of the martial arts as it was, moving his feet to plant one hand firmly into the Valkyrie's gut.

Though it wasn’t said in a flattering tone, a part of the valkyrie couldn’t help but appreciate, even just a tiny bit, his observation.
The ghoul chuckled lightly. “Hasty?” She echoed, “Yes, I hear that often. I’d rather take action than be too late.” Hel was actually expecting to be pulled into another gravity field, so when Invictus delivered a swift kick to her gut instead, she was unprepared. The reaper flew a bit away from the Heir to Conquest, landing on her side with a grunt. She immediately leapt back to her feet and climbed into the air. She then lunged at him, her spear outstretched, though she had a feeling it would do no good.
HP: 11 – 4 = 7/30

A flying warrior was definitely a tricky one to bring down, if Invictus had to say so. His play into gravity missing due to the ghoul's swift movements.
A shame, really.
"You you live by the words 'Leap before you think'?" he inquired, as though their little dance was a very...casual thing. Which for him, in a way, it was. But interesting, by any means. The ghoul had a lot of spirit, if nothing else.

It seems going into the air was a good move, so there she stayed for now.
“Heh! Correct again.” Hel gave the horseman a small grin. “I realize now I’ve failed to properly introduce myself to my opponent. Allow me to correct that. My name is Hel.” She then swung her spear at Invictus once more, and though once again it did little damage, at least she landed the hit.

Another swing of that weapon and Invictus found her in one place long enough to at least partially clip the Valkyrie with one of his gravity fields... though not as effectively as he would have liked.
"Hel? A suitable name," you probably raise it, "I am Invictus." he introduced in turn.

Oh, she needed to be cautious! After getting clipped by that gravity field, she wasn’t as immune as she would have hoped.
Once again, from the sky, she made another strike at the Heir to Conquest. “Invictus, eh?” Hel echoed. “I am glad I did not address you by ‘Vicky’ then!” It had been the only name she heard when he and War had dropped in on their room.

Invictus took the strike from the spear, grabbing it with one hand to tug it, and hopefully her with it, down to his level for another open-palm strike.
"Ah, the nicknames. I do not fancy them, really. But the girls do prefer them and in their..current state it is best that I entertain some of their whims." he almos seemed amused, "Though I will say I would have killed you on the spot if you'd called me Vicky. That is Eris's name only."

Hel was not expecting him to grab her spear, and thus when she was jerked down to his level, she was not prepared for the strike. Hel let out a grunt as she as sent back into the air, flapping her wings to keep her up. Oh…her Fear shield felt like it was about to give…Regardless, it wasn’t over until it was gone.
The reaper twirled her spear, and lunged back in for another strike, giving a laugh at his comment. “Ah, trust me then, I am glad I refrained from it.” And not because she was worried about being killed on the spot, no, she didn’t want to address him by some nickname, that’s why.

Another decent attack from the valkyrie, though he did have to wonder if she was working with pure talent, or if she was an insane studier of battle. He'd met both types, though she seemed a bit too gung ho to really just leave it to natural skill.
He moved his hand to grab the end of the spear, it slicing into his hand and dripping blood from it to the floor before he moved his other hand into the familiar fist of gravity, pulling down with it.
