Junko had heard the rumors from various students. Red had retired from Amityville. Retired. No. ******** no. She did not ******** retire. Junko's blood was boiling with rage as she also heard the faculty of the school was doing a goodbye ceremony announcing 'Red's retirement'. She was so angry. Words could not begin to describe how livid Junko was as she stormed across campus to the demon dorms, passing through the gate and walking into the building without a single thought. She had one destination that she would not be distracted from: Riley's room.

The monster ghoul only stopped when she was in front of the mindflayer's door, breathing deeply and rubbing her face in a last ditch effort to calm herself enough to not just start yelling. Retiring my a**.

"I've never seen you so angry. It's delightful." The Mistress chuckled darkly, a wide grin spreading across Her mouth underneath Junko's writhing hair. Junko ignored her.

Finally she felt marginally relaxed, just enough to raise one trembling hand to knock a couple times on Riley's door. "Riley? Are you in? We need to talk." She sounded as serious as she felt. Junko was in no mood to be cute and adorable and shy right now.

The door opened before Junko had finished her sentence, as if Riley had been expecting visitors. She still seemed surprised to see Junko at her door, but not so surprised that her reaction time was impaired.

Of course I am, darling. Come in. Her eyes widened imperceptively as she read the expression on Junko's face. It was a new one, a lovely one. Intensity. Junko was beautiful in this state. Or, perhaps, Riley was just biased towards the darker levels of emotion. Either way, if she had lips, she would have smiled.

She knew full well why Junko was at her door this night, but she made no hint of the knowledge. To what do I owe the pleasure?

Oh, thank Jack. She was here. Junko had paid no attention to when that joke they called a closing ceremony in Red's honor had been so she'd honestly just winged it and gone to Riley's first chance she had. It was good that she didn't have to wait for her. She didn't register the way the mindflayer's eyes widened, but she did nod politely when told she could come in. "Thank you."

Junko was wringing her fingers as she stepped past Riley into the room, bandage covered fingers that The Mistress kept snapping at with her hair to make her stop fidgeting with them. "Remember what Malcolm said about scarring." She warned. Junko frowned and played with the end of her sleeve instead.

Riley's question was met with a quick look through moving hair before Junko averted her eyes again, not wanting the other ghoul to see her looking unsure now. How to start? She knew what she wanted to say but it was a matter of explaining it all in a way that made sense. Did Riley believe that Red had simply retired? She seriously hoped the mindflayer was not as naive as some of the other nameless students. Her hair may have repaired itself thanks to Malcolm, but her bandage-covered burns were still there. "...Is it true?" Junko finally muttered, her fists clenching tightly at her sides as she turned back to Riley. "Are they seriously claiming Red simply...retired?" The disgust was clear as day in her voice.

Riley's knowledge was clear in her concise answer. The boogeymen are covering up the truth of the matter, yes. This is not the staff's choice. They are as much a victim as Red was, as far as I can tell. Her words were carefully chosen, every one. Each has their place, and their choice. They have chosen their roles. The only question left is us.

Riley closed the door and sat down on the couch, gesturing for Junko to join her. And that is why you have come to me. So come and tell me what your role is in all of this, Junko.

The boogeymen. Those..! Ugh! Junko raised her hands to rub at her face only for her hair to grab her wrists and force them away, holding them as far from Junko's face and chest and her own arms as possible until the ghoul had calmed enough to not scratch and rub at her healing burns. She eventually tugged her hands back, about to rub her wrists but thinking better of it. Victims, huh? Junko hugged herself, narrowed eyes glued on Riley as she walked through the room until she was sitting. She shifted uncomfortably from one foot to the other even as she was silently requested to join Riley on the couch. Junko wasn't up for sitting just yet, instead she paced a small circle. It was a habit she was picking up more and more as she was put into uncomfortable situations.

"My role..?" Junko looked away. What was her role? She didn't..think she had a role per se other than being the student council's Vice President, or being Seiji's ghoulfriend, or Nuk's little sister, or Tomoko's big sister, or a friend to her friends. Other than that what was she? She stopped at a window, noticing a few students headed toward various assigned dorms. They were returning from that 'ceremony' that the faculty were being forced to lie about. "...This is wrong." She finally said, turning back to Riley with a pained look in her eyes. "The students who know the truth are hurting. The others are being lied to! It's...it's not right. It's basically saying everything we went through was for nothing." Junko bit down on the end of a bandaged thumb.

"I think we should do something. The students need closure...a real one."

Riley listened, carefully nodding at the appropriate times. She reached out and rested her hand on Junko's shoulder. You're right. So now that you know what needs to be done, what shall we do about it?

She winced slightly at the touch to her shoulder but other than that the action was not rejected. She was right, really? Junko smiled a little at that, eyes turning up to Riley's. What did she want to do? "We...should ignore what the boogeymen said." Junko frowned again. No, wait. That didn't come out right. "We'll do a proper memorial. We'll acknowledge and honor Red's sacrifice..."

Junko's eyes lowered again. "She said we're Halloween...she said we can't die. She wanted us to leave. To survive and get answers." Answers to what? Junko didn't have any idea. "Sh-she healed us when we were dying. She protected us." Junko's voice began to shake as she recalled the memories. Yes, Red had hurt them and she had been responsible for the death of so many of them but... "The last thing she did, right before that hunter with the glowing blue scythe killed her, was cover us all in a barrier they couldn't get through. She saved us. The last thing she did, Riley...I...I want to kill that hunter. I've never wanted to kill someone before." Panic stricken, tear-filled eyes looked up at Riley again. She genuinely wanted to kill someone. But that couldn't happen, especially not now.

"We need to do our own memorial for her, Riley. We'll..we'll do it so the boogeymen can't punish us. I don't know how but...can we get Jericho and Christof in on this as well? I'm sure Shehk wouldn't need any convincing..Shehk's...probably the most hurt by all of this right now." As far as students went, that is.

Riley's eyes glowed with pride at Junko's slow journey to the destination she was meant for. Riley nodded, and stood, walking away.

You have the full support of the Council. We will have a meeting tomorrow to discuss this. She had walked over to her study, but before she entered, she stopped and gestured for Junko to follow inside.

Now, I have a request for you.

She waited until Junko entered the study, which was filled to the brim with red fabric.

Jericho managed to acquire an abundance of this strange substance for me, just on a whim. Her eyes fell to Junko, twinkling in amusement. Perhaps you could think of some use for it?

She was glad for the support. This was not something she could do on her own. Riley's words were met with a nod and she smiled again, watching the ghoul walk away and following her into the study when it became clear she wanted her to follow. What now? "A request?" Junko was curious now. Curiosity that seemed to settle when she saw the red fabric. Oh, did Riley want more dresses? She could do that.

...Strange...substance? Junko turned a serious stare. "Riley..it's fabric." She reminded her as if not knowing was really stupid of her. To Junko it was! But then she realized what she was getting at, it took a minute but she did eventually understand. Junko lifted a bolt of the red fabric that wad filling the room, rubbing a corner of it between her thumb and index finger out of habit. She glowered down at her hand when she was reminded her fingers were still covered with bandages. Stupid burns. Junko was quick to recover from her pouting, however, turning to Riley and hugging the fabric against her chest. Oh wait. Ow. The fabric was set aside for now.

"How did he get so much of it? This would be enough for...almost the entire school." Or the entire school if she really stretched it out. Junko looked all around, looking very much like a kid in a candy store now. So many ideas! So many things she could do! But only one idea mattered. "They say imitation is the highest form of flattery." She lifted more fabric to drape some of it over her, mostly testing the way it moved. Oh yes. This would do just fine.

Junko was grinning now. "It'll be a challenge with my bandages, but...wait..won't it be obvious when dozens of red cloaks are gathered together?"

It depends on who you're worried about being obvious to. Riley murmured enigmatically, before picking up a box of the fabric, then placing it on top of another. She took both of them in her arms, and walked out of the study.

We will figure out a good, safe place for the memorial at the meeting. But we will wear these when we are safe, and gather anonymously. If we are caught, I will enjoy watching the boogeymen attempt to do anything against a sea of Red.

She was already headed out of her dorm, where she would carry the boxes to Junko's dorm, slowly but surely.

Perhaps you could recruit some help. Xiu? Lizzy? Whoever you trust.

Riley stopped at her door, and turned around. Whatever happens, Junko, I am with you on this. Her expression softened. We are with you on this.

Junko grimaced a little at Riley's murmur. It should be obvious who she was worried about; while Junko was determined to do this she really didn't want to get a harsh punishment for doing something she felt was right. It wasn't fair. She was glad that Riley was supporting her in this! Riley could do anything..

"Anonymously? Okay..." She giggled quietly at Riley's comment about a sea of..Red. Junko then grew quiet, also picking up a box and following Riley out of the dorm with it in her arms. It hurt to have the weight of the box against her healing burns but she'd deal with it. How would they feel seeing however many bodies cloaked in red just like the late boogeyman/gym teacher? She forced herself to feel optimistic instead of allowing herself to wallow in depression and pessimism. It wasn't healthy.

Help sounded nice. She was sure Xiu and Lizzy would love to help her all things considered. She'd seen them on that battlefield. Ugh. That battlefield. Junko shuddered at the memory and shook her head as if that would make it go away. Thankfully by then they had reached her door and Riley was speaking again, filling her head with words of encouragement instead of painful memories. That was a much better. "Thank you, Riley. That means a lot to me...this is really important, I think. The students need this." She hugged the box until it pressed too hard against her chest. She wanted to put this down now the pain was getting unbearable. She balanced the box on one leg while still holding it with one of her arms so she could open the door, the motion immediately setting Sayuri off on an excited barking rampage. Luckily she was in her pen with Kuro and Momo. Junko chuckled.

"Ah...sorry. I'll be quick, I promise. You don't have to stay and listen to Sayuri barking her head off." The boxes could just go on her table, which was exactly what Junko did. Her box was put down quickly so she could finally hiss with rub at her arms.

"Stop that." The Mistress interjected, grabbing both of her arms again. "If you were a patchwork I'd remove them." Junko frowned.

"I'm sorry. It just really hurts..."

Riley put the box down on Junko's table, after walking relatively silent, despite what the ghoul had to say. When she had relieved herself of the box, she reached out before she could get away or rub too much, and wrapped Junko in a full embrace.

I know.

She seemed to be responding to the pain Junko was complaining of to Mistress, but her words were heavy, and told a different story in their inflection. She knew Junko was hurting, and her physical wounds were only the beginning.

You stay here. Start contacting trusted friends to come help you get started on your new project. I will bring these boxes back and forth on my own, you needn't worry about that. She brushed the safer area of Junko's hair back, carefully avoiding Mistress but displaying a dominance that clearly stated she wasn't afraid of being bitten. We'll make this right.

Riley pulled Junko in for a hug and she tensed purely out of surprise, eyes widened and hair writhing for all of a second before she whimpered and closed her eyes, relaxing against the ghoul and moving her arms to properly return the hug. She wouldn't cry. She wouldn't cry. She wouldn't. Cry. She almost did! Her shoulders shook and her grip on Riley tightened until she got a hold of herself, sniffling and shuddering as she nodded to Riley's proposal. "O-okay. I'll..call Xiu and Lizzy. They know how to sew and they wouldn't blab about this if I asked them them not to." She figured it was the best idea to give Riley names so she wouldn't be blindsighted, and also...just in case. She trusted Lizzy and Xiu. She knew she had nothing to worry about.

The Mistress did growl lightly as fingers came dangerously close to Her mouth but aside from that and a bit of raised hair She didn't do much else. She wasn't stupid unlike Her host. "I'll leave the door ajar so you can come in and out." Closed enough so no one would see what she was up to but open enough that Riley could just nudge it the rest of the way without needing to empty her hands or wait for Junko to open the door for her.

Junko was already walking away to get papers together, grabbing a snake pen and sitting at the edge of her bed. She had a lot of planning to do.

When she was released, she watched Junko get to work, and her expression lifted slightly. As you wish. She murmured, nodding her head and leaving to begin the slow, but easy task of walking boxes back and forth, to and from Junko's room.
