She didn't bother to knock this time - mostly because she tried the door first and it wasn't locked, and she wanted to surprise him with her return. She figured that if he did not show up in the gym where the tents were, he must be unaware that they were back from the field trip; after all, the previous one had lasted over a day and she had expected this one to be the same... However, one day was more than enough for her.
Inside, it was messy as ever. Okay, that was a lie; it seemed a lot messier than before and a little... Fluffier...?
Upon closer inspection, she realized that she was staring at lots and lots of minipets. Some were familiar and- Is that Rosenthal's ear-wing sticking out from behind that box? She paused, staring for a moment before removing her shoes and tiptoeing around everything to get to the bed. When she finally reached it, she couldn't help the fond smile growing on her lips. It's almost unfair how good Mac looks in his sleep. He looks almost like he was a nice person!
The duffer bag was quietly placed on the floor before she climbed onto the bed and under the covers. She inched closer and closer to her sleeping boilfriend, gently pressing a kiss to his cheek and then snuggling up beside him, her head against him as she closed her eyes; she was so tired...

Like the rest of the room's fuzzy occupants, Mac was passed out. In fact, Mac looked pretty fuzzy himself; he hadn't had the chance to shave the day prior, and it made his cheeks rougher to the touch. Neither minipet nor Reaper stirred as the Demoness crawled in to bed; the extent of the moving was a dreaming boof and kick from a pup, who was sleeping on it's back against Mac's leg. It wasn't until she pressed a kiss to his rough cheek did he move at all, turning to wrap his arms around her, pulling her tightly against his chest and resting his chin on the top of her head.
His need-to-comfort-Lizzy reflexes happened in his sleep, apparently.
After that he stopped moving, save for the gentle rise and fall of his chest as he slept. It didn't seem like he was going to wake up any time soon, and perhaps that was for the best.

Sadly, while Lizzy was quick to drift off to sleep - especially after she felt warm, firm arms wrap around her - it wasn't a deep sleep at all. She would see Red's crumbling skull, or the bars of her cage, or that cylinder 'weapons conversion' machine whenever she closed her eyes for too long, causing her to force herself to keep awake every time she felt like she was going to sleep... It was exhausting to do so though, and she hadn't slept for a long time now...
She buried her face in his chest, his scent calming her down a little as she sighed softly and tried to sleep again.
This time, she saw Vieve. The ghoul she felt so guilty towards. They were in those cages with the blue electricity running through the bars... There were hunters standing outside, looking in at them; whispers of 'specimen' and 'who's next' could be heard as one of them pushed forward, grabbing Vieve by her shirt collar. She yelled angrily and struggled, but something was suppressing her abilities.
She was stuffed into the cylinder shaped machine, and the weapons conversion process started. The salamander's yells soon grew into terrified screams, and Lizzy rammed herself against the bars of her cage in a desperate attempt to get out and stop the process, trying to ignore the pain of feeling electricity running through her body. She had to save her! She had to save her before the process was completed! She had to-
The machine stopped, and the door was opened. When the smoke cleared, Lizzy would see a scimitar inside, the hilt made of gold and shaped like the end of a salamander's tail. The runes along the blade glowed blue, a contrast against the red-orange gem embedded onto the side; it seemed to be on fire... Like Vieve was still alive as the blade.
To Mac, it would just be Lizzy sobbing something inaudible as she pushed against him.

As Lizzy's sleep became more and more fretful, the slumbering Mac took more and more unconscious attempts to make her calm down...most of which involved little 'shh' noises that were probably trying to be reassuring, but the biggest of his attempts happened when she started crying and pushing against him; he tightened his arms, forcing her closer against his chest.
Soon the squirming was annoying enough to the sleeping Reaper to begin to wake him up, and as he groggily came to he was very aware of the extra body in his bed, the warmth of another person against his chest. But wait, Lizzy wasn't supposed to be home yet! She went on the field trip, didn't she? So then who was...
With a sharp inhale he scambled back on the bed, letting go of the mystery woman in an attempt to get away. No, he didn't probably just cheat on his ghoulfriend did he? He was pretty sure he'd remember if he did, but then again... As his panicked mind started reeling about how he would explain this away, how to convince her nothing happened, he started to realize things about her. Things like the mass of pink hair, the familiar pale skin, the way her brows knit together when she was upset at something, the pout of her mouth when she was struggling with something important.
"...Lizzy?" He said in surprise, for more than one reason. "What are you doing---What's wrong...?" She was home early, wasn't she? She did not look happy...at all.

What if this was just Lizzy's doppelganger?
She gasped for air as her eyes opened, and for a moment, she laid there in a completely awkward and uncomfortable position, too disoriented to move. Vieve's screams still echoed in her head, and she was shaking in fright from what she had just witnessed, unable to tell that it was just a dream; what if them going home was the real dream? What if- Her eyes seemed to be searching for something in the room when they landed on Mac and she sat up on the bed in an almost robotic manner.
"M-Mac..." Her voice was strained, and tears were streaming down her face as she wondered why he was so far away, "I'm... I'm scared... They tried to... Tried to..." She couldn't say it. It was too horrible to even think about; she had seen Vieve walk through that door home! She had seen it! She was fine, probably sleeping and resting up in her room right now!

If there was ever one thing that Mac knew above anything else when it came to Lizzy, he knew her upset face. He knew when something was bothering her, and this was worse episode he had ever seen. She was scared? They tried to...what? Who were 'they'? What was so horrible she would sneak in to his room and cry like she'd seen the end of the world, twice?
He couldn't think of anything to say to her, and so he said nothing. Instead he moved forward, collecting her in his arms and holding her tight against his chest once more, this time awake and aware of what he was doing. The Reaper nuzzled his face into her hair, rubbing his hand down her back. "Shh, shh." Technically, that wasn't words. For now he just held her, hoping to provide some silent comfort.

Getting held by Mac while fully awake was possibly the best thing that had happened to her since she came home. Within a few seconds, everything melted away and she just leaned against his chest, eyes closed, listening to his heart beat... Her breathing stabilized, and she nuzzled against his chest, voice muffled, "The false reapers... They are humans, hunters. They captured my group and put us into cages and there was this machine that they use to convert Halloweeners into weapons! Just like we learned on that island! I thought I would never see you again..." But she still wasn't sure. She had to be sure, just in case.
She pulled away, putting her hand flat against his chest, frowning as she stared up at him warily... And then pulled him down, her arms wrapped around the back of his neck, her lips finding his for a kiss that was quickly deepened as she straddled him.
"This is not some kind of a dream right?" She whispered against his lips, holding him close.

Mac took in what she was telling him. The False Reapers...she meant the ones on the island? It took everything in him to resist touching his throat where the one false reaper cut him. So they...ran in to these Hunters did they? On a trip that Mac was against from the beginning. It also took everything in him to resist saying I told you so, but even he knew that would be terrible.
"..." He really didn't know what to say to it all. The whole thing was...wow. False Reapers making Weapons out of Scarelings?! Why didn't the rest of Halloween know this was happening?! Before he could dwell and start to rant he found a pouting ghoul staring at him, a ghoul who kissed him and...straddled him? Err, wow. Forward Lizzy was forward when upset.
He wasn't complaining though.
Instead he returned her kiss, his hands petting down her back to grip her sides, pulling her abdomen ever so gently closer. When she pulled away, her question gained her a look that said seriously? "If by that you mean Am I really safe in Halloween and Kissing Mac in bed, then the answer is yes?" He leaned in for a brief kiss, more interested in holding her to calm her down than to continue in all his attempts to bed her.
"It's okay Lizzy, I'm here now..."

"... Yay!" She cheered, too relieved and happy to be embarrassed about her current position. Instead, she wriggled closer to him to return the brief kiss, a shiver running down her spine. She then proceeded to press little kisses along his jaw, you know, just to be sure. It felt like it had been weeks since she kissed him or he kissed her, when in truth it had only been a day... It was still all very hard to swallow, that so many things had happened within such a short span of time.
"Mac..." She stopped the kisses, laying her head down on his shoulder, closing her eyes, "Professor Red is gone now... She died to protect us... From the hunters... Andnowshe'sgone..." She started crying on his shoulder, allowing herself to be comforted by his words and his presence.

Mac wasn't quite sure what to make of her moodswings or even what to think of them outside of holy hell how long is a day in the human world. But then he decided to not complain, as she was pretty adamant about getting in as many kisses as possible. COOL WITH HIM, YO. He returned what he could and gave his own when he couldn't, his arms still trapping her against him. He had half a mind to ease her back onto the bed, but...
The mood swing happened.
Now Mac didn't really know Red. He knew she was the gym Teacher and he knew she could be a hardass, but otuside of that he didn't have a clue. Still, it was sad to lose someone permanently, especially someone like a Teacher. "I'm sorry." He murmured on reflex, still quite perplexed by the swings she was going through. He wanted to ask how, he wanted to know details, but...no, he couldn't. He didn't want to stress her out further, and so he just held her quietly, patting her hair and back, just allowing her to cry.

"We couldn't save her..." She wasn't even there in person. She had to watch the whole thing, trapped as a boo, through the monitors in a room. It was heartbreaking, especially given the professor's last words, "She... Was spying on the hunters. Pretending to be one of them... She planned for the hunters to be taken down, but something went wrong, and... And the weapon she had with her - a hunter weapon - it killed her! It killed her and she came back as a giant monster! She... She couldn't recognize us at all..." She was probably not making a lot of sense to Mac right now, but she had started to ramble and she wasn't about to stop.
"We tried to reason with her, tried to wake her up... And it worked! It worked but she said she couldn't come back with us. That she had failed!" The sobbing started up again, her limbs tightening around her boilfriend, almost like she was afraid that he would leave, "And then she sacrificed herself to save those who were still alive... All that was left of her was her skull. The hunters took a small part of her back-" At this she grew a little agitated, "-before they left. We took a part of her skull back with us too but they won... They'll be back..."
Her voice grew softer, "I don't want to be put in a cage again. I don't want to see anyone being turned into a weapon again."

Couldn't save Red, she was a spy, the Hunters got them, the weapon - whatever that was - killed her, Red turned in to a giant monster, couldn't be woken up, and whoa, just...whoa.
All THAT in the span of one day, Really? Everything Lizzy said, every piece of word vomit that came from her pretty little mouth; it seemed too much to happen in one day. Especially in one day. That's a lot of hardship and pain in the span of a handful of hours! Every word darkened his mood, every word just made him want to scream I told you so over and over again until she never went on trips again...but he couldn't bring himself to. He just couldn't.
Instead he remained, hugging Lizzy securely against him and petting her back when he felt she needed the reassurance. Finally, he shifted a bit, making himself comfortable under her before pulling her against him again. "You won't." He assured her, his voice edged. "I won't let them."

She clung desperately onto him, absorbing his warmth, his smell; she missed him so much. She thought she was never going to see him again.
"Promise?" Her voice was barely a whisper; deep inside she knew that it was impossible for anyone to keep them safe forever; after all, Professor Red had failed and she was a bogeyman as well as the gym instructor! However, to just hear it from his lips that he wouldn't 'let them'? It just made her really happy, and it was so deceptively convincing, like his words would really keep her safe on the next field trip.
... It was scary to think that she would even want to go on the next one.
Almost reluctantly, she loosened her grip on him, leaning back enough to look at him face to face. A hand moved up to hold the side of his face, a thumb rubbing gently against his cheek as she smiled. Immediately, her eyes widened, surprised at how rough it felt; she hadn't noticed this before!
Rub rub rub. Pause. Giggle. Rub rub rub. Pause. Giggle. Rub rub rub.
"Hey?" She had decided to stop playing with his soon-to-be-if-not-shaven face fuzz to look at him, her smile considerably brighter and less forced as compared to before, "When they put me in a cage, I was scared that I would never get a chance to talk to you again. It made me regret a lot of things... Like not having the courage to say 'Mac, I love you'." Her face reddened, but she leaned down to kiss him where she had been rubbing before.
Junko had said that it would come out naturally whenever it felt right, right? She was right.

"I promise." He assured her, though it was going to be impossible to actually keep it. If Red couldn't make it against these humans, how were they? They were only Year Twos, far from adults and far from their FEAR potential. It just wasn't done. The sweet gesture she was trying to express turned into something...definitely mood-altering. Mac could only stare at her like this--> B| while she went about rubbing at the stubble on his face. Still, to humor her, he just sat there and took it.
"Are you don---" Oh, good timing. "Yeah?" She seemed like she needed to say something, and she looked happy about it. Not completely happy, but, happy. Ish. When she said what she had to, Mac was dumbstruck. She...what? Why would she...? Oh Unholy Jack that was...err, wow. Um. As happy as he was to hear it, there was a larger part of him screaming NO.
First, his expression softened. "Would you have the courage if I said it first?" He teased, swallowing hard to get rid of the feeling of cotton in his mouth. No, No, No! The voice inside continued as he leaned forward to press a kiss to her lips; the cheek just wasn't good enough. "Because I can." Another soft kiss. "And I will," And another, this one lingering before he ended it, resting his forehead against hers. "I will say it all night, if you want me too." No, Don't. No, no, no....

"Maybe," She wasn't going to lie; if he had said it first then she probably would have followed up quite easily. The hesitation stemmed from the uncertainty of not knowing how the other party would take it, after all, as well as the fact that she had thought it was too soon.
She shivered at the kisses, returning them eagerly. When they ended, it took everything she had to not pout at the boil; instead, she directed her attention to his question, which she wasn't really paying full attention to.
"A reliable source told me that boils are silly," She smiled, easily looking into his eyes although her blush had reddened, at how sweet he was being, "If you wanted to say it, you would... But I want you to mean it. If you mean it then just once is enough." She was just happy that she finally did it; she wanted to, that night when they discussed the field trip and Mac was trying to convince her not to go, but it felt too soon at the time.
That 'one day' of the field trip just made a lot of difference to her.
