Eric liked to refer to himself as "semi-homeless", he didn't actually "own" a home, but neither did he sleep on the ground or wear grungy dirt stained clothing.
Well, except for tonight.
Not the clothing thing, Eric actually had a jacket on over his shirt and was in a sleeping bag. But he was on the ground.
The problem was the Eric was living with his friend, Steve, and Steve only had a 3 room apartment. 1 of those rooms was a kitchen, another was a bathroom, and the living room was combined with the bedroom. Normally, Steve drew a curtain when it was time to sleep, separating the couch from his bedroom and giving them all the privacy they needed to sleep.
However, Steve had an active romantic life, and sometimes Steve needed the bedroom to be more private then what was offered by a thin sheet hung up in the air. On those evenings when Steve and some girl made their way to his double bed, Eric was left to find his own lodging. he didn't mind, it was one of the conditions of his remaining in the apartment.
However, sometimes it wasn't easy to find somewhere to stay. Steve had gotten home pretty late, so his attempts to find someone else’s house to crash at had been unsuccessful. As had his attempts to find a lady friend of his own. So, with the evening wearing on and his first job interview in months (maybe something Alberio had said stuck?) the next day, Eric settled down underneath a bush in a local park, trying to stay somewhat out of sight of the police, to catch six or seven hours of sleep before he had to trudge his way back to the apartment and get dressed for his interview. It didn’t take many sheep for Eric to be off in la la land, completely unaware of the danger he was in.

Remarque very much liked his search for energy to be nice and simple—find some drunk stumbling around on the outskirts of town or in the park he’d been trained in. He liked finding sleeping homeless victims that he could just guiltlessly drain and then wander away without a second glance.
Well. Most sleeping homeless victims. He did not, however, like to find people that he recognized sleeping in his hunter ground.
He recognized Eric’s red hair and beard, though had stared for a long moment, trying to make sense of what the hell he was doing out here so late. Sleeping. Like a bum.
He entertained the idea of drawing out his shard and draining some energy, though wasn’t sure he could just make the wraith stop before it did any severe damage, and on the off chance that some fluke of nature would have Eric go into a coma or die, Remarque wasn’t sure he wanted to sacrifice the man for a little bit of energy—especially not when he was sure there were plenty of other people just waiting to say hello to the wraith.
Still, Eric was in relatively plain sight, and Remarque wasn’t about to tack up a sign for any other DMC senshi or Negaverse agents saying, “Hey, leave this guy alone, I’m kind of relying on him for something, --Remarque” just lying around, he did the next best thing.
He toed Eric’s sleeping body with force enough to be described as a light kick.
“Hey,” he said, not quietly. “Wake up. What the hell are you doing out here?” he demanded in a rather unfriendly voice—not because he was in an especially menacing mood, but because he was never really the most gentle person. Particularly when it came to waking people up.

Eric’s reaction was not a normal one to being woken up.
His first reaction is to roll over, murmuring something incomprehensible.
"Buwhabouthepinolibuthter..."
Then, suddenly, without any other provocation, Eric jerked up.
"No! I wasn't sleeping, I was...."
He blinked, unsure what he was seeing. Turquoise, blue, and gold? Hmm. He had known there was a midnight showing of Rocky horror somewhere around here, but he didn't think they would be an issue.
This definitely wasn't, however, a police officer, or anyone with authority over the park. He rubbed his eyes, looking up at the strangely clad man.
"Uh, what seems to be the, uh, issue?"

"The issue," Remarque said, tone a bit clipped, "Is that you're here sleeping in the park. You realize that's dangerous, right? Did you fall asleep here on your way home, or did you just decide that, 'Gee, this bush looks really comfortable, time to settle down for the night'? Because, either way, bad move."
He had one brow raised and was looking down at Eric, still trying to figure out what the ******** he'd been asking about before he jumped up. He rested his hands on his hips, very much deciding against attacking Eric now that he was awake; it would be an absolute waste of time, effort, and carefully placed leads and manipulation if he'd attacked the male anyway, so all he could do now was make sure he didn't get himself killed before Jett could get any use out of him.
"What if I had been one of those Senshi, huh?" he prompted, already knowing that Eric had a strong distrust for them. "I could have just poofed you up to space and used you for my own depraved, sadistic pleasures, you know? Be more careful with where you drop your guard. I saw some out earlier this week, poking around in this park."

Eric was definitely interested now, though he wasn’t sure how the man could have though he fell asleep on the way home. Was the man under the impression that he had tripped into a conveniently placed sleeping bag? Still, not important.
"You saw Senshi around here? What were they doing? What did they look like? Did one of them have a sort of blue dress on? Actually, wait up."
He reached into his jacket, pulling out a small notepad and a mechanical pencil. He flipped past the first page, which appeared to just be a crude, poorly defined drawing of a squirrel. Or maybe some kind of dog, it was hard to tell, the tail really needed work before a clear definition could be made.
Eric scribbled some words down, and Remarque could clearly see what they were "Cos-player met in park:"
He looked back up.
"All right, now if you could answer those questions from before. Oh, and who are you? And how did you learn about the senshi? And zapping up into space? Were you one of the ones who recently returned from being abducted?"
Had he been more awake, he might have phrased things better. Alas, he was not.

“Huh?” Remarque asked, devoid of his usually somewhat composed self. He should have ******** known Eric was going to take his job seriously. Holding his hands up in slight protest, Remarque shook his head. “Hold on a second, I just woke you up to tell you that if you’re going to sleep in the park, do it a little farther away from the path, all right? I’m not here to answer all these questions…”
Remarque had been genuinely taken aback by Eric’s enthusiasm—he had assumed that Eric was going to work to collect information on the senshi, but this? Well, all be damned. Remarque suddenly grew a little more affectionate towards the male in front of him; the fact of the matter was, he was proud of Eric for sticking his nose where it didn’t belong and harassing some stranger for information.
He had no doubt in his mind that Eric was a good idea to befriend. Rolling right out of bed, jumping up, asking questions and digging for answers? It was admirable; if they had been in reversed roles, Jett would have thrown some punches and tried to chase away the unwanted visitor, answers or not. Nobody disrupted his sleep and got away with it. But, Eric? Taking it all in stride.
“Look, you just need to be careful. And if you’re going to give an interview, don’t jump to eight thousand questions at once,” he coached. “You want to give them time to answer, or else they get all jumbled up. It would be like me asking, ‘Hey, what’s your name? What are you doing sleeping out here? Why aren’t you at your house. Did you know that you were going to be sleeping in the park tonight? Do you have plans for tomorrow or are you just going to sleep out here and collect dust? Why do you care about the senshi and what the ******** is a ‘cos-player’ and why did you write that down?’ See? It’s a s**t ton of questions. I was asking them and don’t even remember what the first one was. So go a little slower, all right? Maybe three or four at a time, if you’re desperate. You don’t want to overwhelm someone with your questions or chase them away by running your mouth too much, got it?”

Eric looked at him blankly for a moment. He wasn’t entirely sure if this was how interviews were supposed to go, he had the idea that it wasn’t supposed to be a teaching session, but he would work with what he had.
"Oh right, I get it. Well then I should start with your name. It'd probably be polite to answer your question first though. I got kicked out of my mates place as he has a lady friend over, and I couldn’t find anywhere to crash for the night, so I figured I'd sleep in the park. I didn’t actually think about the senshi though..."
Ironically enough, wondering whether being out at night might put him at risk of a senshi attack hadn't crossed his mind because he'd been working too hard on trying to work out "Sky watch". He’d been thinking about where they could meet, and what their secret signs could be so that they would know each other when they encountered one another.
None of which would have mattered if hed been captured by one in his sleep.
"You think getting off the path will keep me safe?"

“You should probably get better friends if you couldn’t fine one person to let you camp out in their living room, at least,” Remarque chastised, but didn’t want to dig himself a hole and make Eric question his friendship with Jett. “Anyway. I would be…Remarque,” he said, not sure he wanted to inform Eric that he was, in fact, a senshi—albeit not one of the problem ones.
“I suspect you’ll be much safer a little further away. It’s not like you have to worry bout bears or anything. Opossums, Raccoons, Squirrels,” he mused, slightly more suspicious of the little rodents than he was before he’d met Darwin. “…But you seem like a tough guy, I’m sure a little pest control is no big deal for you. Better than waking up to some homeless guy shanking you, or some scout, you know. Groping you.”
His hands were resting on his hips now, and he seemed a little more relaxed; Eric was easy to get along with and didn’t seem to have anything really dangerous about him, so even if he was Jett or Remarque, communicating with the male came easily.

Eric shrugged.
"It was pretty late notice, I didn’t even get a hold of most of em."
He ran the name through his head for a moment. That wasn’t a normal sounding name at all, maybe it was French or something.
"Remarque... That an interesting name. And how did you come to know about senshi?"
He needed to get as much information out of this guy as possible; he was the first real "lead" Eric had. Of course, how he answered this question would serve in part to determine how reliable a lead he actually was. Only time would tell, really.

Remarque tilted his head just a bit, wondering how much information he should give Eric. He doubted the male was going to deliver any information that would damage the Dark Mirror Court, but to be on the safe side, he avoided answering the question with pure honesty. “I work for a group that wants to stop the senshi from screwing things up more than they already have,” he said, crossing his arms over his chest. “Are you sure you’d rather keep asking me questions or, you know, wouldn’t you rather go find a nice bush and try to go back to sleep? I mean, it’s still late,” he said, voice trailing off just slightly.
It wasn’t that he wanted to brush Eric off entirely and discourage him from these cute little interviews, but neither did he want to encourage him to just approach anyone and start throwing questions at him. Besides, he had to get back to finding more energy taps so he could get home and get to bed, himself.

Eric shook his head. This was too big to pass up, ANOTHER group trying to save the world from the senshi!? He had to know more!
"No, I’m all right thank you. What is the name of this group? Tell me more about it. I'm part of a small group of people who got abducted by senshi who are trying to keep an eye on senshi activity in destiny city. You know, to protect it."
He didn't mention sky watch by name, what’s the point of having a secret organization if you just told everyone about it?
"Maybe we could share information? Your group could provide us with valuable intel, and we could be good eyes on the ground for your group."
Eric was hopeful. An alliance for the Sky watch could be pivotal in their goal of protecting destiny city, and might net them more members.

Well, s**t.
He wasn’t about to dish out who he worked with and who he worked for; it wasn’t that he suspected Eric would find a way to use it against him, but on the off chance that one of the senshi did decide to abduct Eric for being too nosy, he wasn’t about to supply him with all the information he had.
“I can’t speak for the rest of my group,” he said, suspecting that there would be at least a few members who thought the concept of ‘Sky Watch’ was ridiculous—even more so because Jett had a strong hand in forming it. “…But if I find out anything of interest, I’ll make sure to pass it along if we bump into each other again. You, though. Keep up the good work. Keeping an eye on senshi activity is a good idea, you can’t ever be too careful. Which is probably why you should make sure you’ve got a better back up plan the next time your ‘mate’ is entertaining his lady friends.”
Sure, he might miss out on valuable meetings like this, but if Eric had bumped into the wrong sort of person? He could have very easily been another casualty. He really needed to get the guy involved in some sort of self defense class, just in case, if Eric was going to continue be so hands-on.

He nodded. He was waking up now, and things were starting to make more sense. The senshi had special powers, who knows what they were capable of? The walls had ears, so to speak, or maybe the trees in this case, the closest wall wasn’t close enough to hear them anyway.
He’d have to be more careful in the future about identifying himself to strangers, or mentioning his group on public. He could have easily made himself a target and he realized that now.
"All right... Well I will put this park on my list of places Senshi have been seen, your information has been useful as I didn't know this was one of their stomping grounds."
Still, he needed to know more. They were practically in the dark about what the Senshi were, and until that was fixed he couldn't possibly hope to win against them.
"But I still need a few, more general questions answered. We don't know much about the Senshi, and the more information I can pass along to my group, they better we'll be at protecting ourselves and destiny city. What do you know about the Senshi in general?"

"What do I know of them?" Remarque leaned back, wondering how he could explain this to a civilian without crossing any lines or breaking any unspoken rules. "I know that they're going to destroy this world if they keep up as they are. So we have to stop them before they destroy everything we hold precious. They're misled. They need to be put on the right path before they do any more damage than they already have. And, if they can't be reformed, they need to be stopped."
He gave Eric a very serious look. "But whatever means necessary. But you leave that to me. Don't stick your neck out trying to stop one of them. They've got powers that would leave you severely outmatched, so no engaging in a fight. I don't want you getting hurt. Asking questions, they probably won't try to hurt you. But getting too involved with any of them is a mistake. They'll only destroy everything precious to you, anyway," he shrugged. "...So don't fall for their lies and deception. Don't make that mistake," he murmured solemnly.

Eric bit his lip. This was deep. He was DEFINATELY in over his head. He should be scared...
But he really wasn’t. He was excited. He felt... powerful. In the know. Worthy, so to speak. Like his life had meaning, he was doing something worth doing. He hadn't even realized he hadn't felt that way until he did.
Guitar playing was fun, but this was important damn it.
He nodded, jotting down everything Remarque said.
"Right. I’ll remember that. Reconnaissance only, no engagement, I’ll pass that along to my friends. How do I get your attention if they're planning something? I might not run into you."
That was important if he was supposed to leave the senshi fighting to this mysterious Remarque person, he’d have to be able to call him somehow if he got in trouble or knew something that was going to go down.
