Upon getting back home on earth Menthe would have been more than happy to slide back into the same groove she'd been in before she left. Sliding into the background of the world, not making much more of an impression then the occassional peep. Being known more for the work she'd done then who she really was.
But it seemed... that fate did not have that in store for the young woman.
Her job had taken her back and her apartment too, which was a blessing she was ever grateful for. But in the end.. it wasn't exactly the same. She'd been replaced in her absence at the office and for the time being was demoted to work beneath a lower boss than she once did. Which was okay really.. understandable. It was all the questions that really upset her.
Coworkers cornering her in the break room with curious questions about what had happened. Questions she tried very hard not to answer for fear of them laughing at her. It really had been quite unbelievable.
One of the largest surprises had been her sudden offer to go to a new school. The letter sat on her table, having been delicately handled more than a dozen times while she starred at it uncertainly. She'd never really had a desire to go to college.. but how could she turn down such generosity?
The for sure largest however was her apparent new magical form. And duty. The entire idea scared her, confused her, and she might have been one of the few new knights who had not tried to power up on her own and try things out. No.. this was her first time since all that had taken place in the Surrounding. But she'd been told to do something and she wasn't the sort to turn down a request!
As Concordia waited for her patrolling partner, tentatively sinking further and further into her hood, she wondered just what the night would have in store for her.

Celsus had spent several hours with Virgo as she had - slowly and carefully - worked out the details for the patrols of the Chronos Knights. He still did not know them all; something that made him just a little sad, since he figured they would work together better if they were familiar with one another. But when he had found out his first patrolling partner was none other than Concordia, Celsus had been quite pleased.
Concordia - otherwise known as the shy Menthe - was someone that the Fritz side of him knew and liked very well. Though she was a quieter personality, he still found her pleasant and amiable. He had seen Menthe awaken during the final battle of the Surrounding - he knew who she was, which made patrolling slightly more pleasing.
He found Concordia with her hood pulled up, half hidden in shadows. Celsus had powered quietly up in his own home and then slipped silently from his loft, moving stealthily through the city until he reached their meeting place.
"Evening, Concordia," he said cheerfully as he neared her, lifting a hand in greeting. "Hope you haven't waited too long?"

Concordia was not as excited to get to know everyone as Celsus might have been. It wasn't as if she disliked them or hated the idea, no! It was simply the prospect of the whole thing for a generally timid and solitary soul. She certainly hoped she would get along with all of them and that they'd all be nice. But even as a school child she'd never had such a large group of people she talked to. Friends... teammates... It was a strange concept.
Celsus' arrival had drawn her from her thoughts, offering a bit of a small smile, and quick reassurance. "Oh no, it wasn't too long."
"I'm sure you are quite on time, I'm just usually pretty early everywhere."
Her fingers were nervously fidgeting and rubbing the edges of her hourglass as she spoke, but she stood up a little more straight, seeming not quite as lost in her hood and veil.
"So ummm... do you know.. exactly what we are supposed to be well... doing..?" She really didn't want to mess up after all. And even in their first meeting at the Surrounding he'd always seemed thankfully a lot more put together and in the know.

It felt a little strange, meeting with Concordia as Celsus, since she did not know him as Celsus, only as Fritz. He had already decided to reveal his civilian identity to her at some point, but their first patrol together was neither the time, nor the place, considering that it would have to be done carefully and with a great amount of the utmost caution.
Tonight, however, was just a simple patrol.
"I'm usually late," said Celsus cheerfully, with a broad smile. Then he added, a little ruefully, "Though to be perfectly honest, that's usually because I am a lazy individual with much too much time on my hands most of the time."
He gave Concordia a wink and then went to stand beside her, peering at the page beneath the shadows of her hood. She was just as shy and quiet as ever, though perhaps once he told her who he really was, she would relax a little.
"Basically we're just keeping watch," explained Celsus, glancing around at the deserted street. "Keeping an eye out for youma and the Negaverse and the like. Protecting the streets of Destiny City so that we don't have any sort of problems or injuries or deaths."

His admission of being often late AND lazy received a slight widening of her eyes in surprise and uncertainty. Why would someone be proud of that, or willing to admit it? Maybe he was just.. joking? The smile and wink did lend a little towards that assumption, and so Concordia gave a very small smile to the comment, not wanting to be the person who didn't catch onto a 'good joke'.
"One would think that too much time would mean that you'd be early everywhere, since there is nothing to prevent or slow you." The tone was simliar to his, though it was a little hard to pick up on how low her volume tended to be. She too was joking or teasing it seemed, in the best way she could atleast. Humor wasn't exactly her forte.
His explaination was met with a small nod, her eyes too glancing out across the dark street curiously. Watching she could do very well! She was observant and patient. Protecting though....
"I... I don't really know how to fight. How are we supposed to do this protecting...?" Even as she asked her hands tightened subconciously around her hourglass. That wasn't a weapon thought was it? It seemed far to fragile.

He couldn't help but tease Concordia; since Celsus knew very well who was beneath the glamour of her page form, there was just something about knowing she was Menthe that made him want to - gently - prod at it. Mostly because he knew she needed a bit of cheerfulness, considering her shy state of mind. His joking was merely a tool to get Concordia out of her shell, relax her.
"Ah, well, see," said Celsus dramatically, waving a hand. He settled one arm companionably across Concordia's shoulders, one ankle tucked over the other.
"Since I have too much free time, theoretically it does mean that I should be early everywhere. Except I use that free time at home and then I just get distracted and then I forget about things and then it's just all a big cycle of forgetfulness."
Celsus pushed his hair away from his face, then slipped around to stand in front of Concordia, lifting a brow. A gentle smile tugged his lips upwards, and he rocked back on his heels, shaking his head.
"Don't worry about it too much right now," he said. "We'll start slow."
He gave Concordia an encouraging smile. "I'm not the best at fighting either, so we'll both be new at this. But we can help each other out."

His closeness was strange, the familiarity of the words was more like that of friends than the polite but stoic manner one used with mere aquintances, the later of which being something she was far more used to. It wasn't bad though, simply strange, and as he actually touched her color seemed to flood her lightly freckled cheeks.
"I... I don't think I would advertise that." She offered in a set of flustered stutters, though a smile was lightly turning up the corners of her lips because it was obvious he wasn't totally serious.
"You should always put your best traits forward. Like a resume." She offered 'helpfully'. Yes.. life was like a job, and you always wanted to put your best foot forward. What was the good in anyone knowing what you were bad at or lacked skills in? Function was a very important thing to Menthe.
Conchordia shifted as Celsus did, nodding in dutiful acceptance as he tried to reassure her. It was reassuring to think that he still felt new at it too. And helping each other out sounded splendid to her. She was very used to helping out!
Taking a tiny step forward she waited for him to take the lead so that she could fall into step. "Have you seen any of those monsters since we got back?"
"Or those scary people?" Conchordia kind of wanted to be sure she knew what she was looking for. Being prepared was always the first step to success.
