Mana let herself wander the lands, letting her memories trace over familiar paths. Sure, it hadn't been that long in the goddess' lifetime, but seeing those that were cubs having their own cubs made one realize just how fast time passed in this realm. How painful it would be to see her children die. This was why she normally did not bear mortal children - it was too painful. Tawa'di had asked, and she had delivered. The second time had been from a touch of loneliness, and how coy that cheetah was.

With a sigh, she let her large wings flutter behind her, wondering how long it was going to take for her to find Tawa'di. She almost thought that the mortal-turned-god didn't want to be found by her. Had she upset him more than even she thought possible?

Kalanu Kalisetsi was always in or between one of two places, the Mantis Clan and the Shadow Clan. She was on her way home from an attempt to locate and pester Poa, humming to herself. She was thinking about how little she had been seeing of Sesere lately. Her avian companion didn't seem to enjoy hanging out with her when she went off to the Shadow Clan so much, but Kalanu was mostly OK with that. Sesere wasn't the most friendly bird and she didn't think all of her friends would get along so well. But still..

"Oh!"

Very suddenly, she spotted the brightly colored and feather lioness wandering through the lands. She stumbled to a stop and simply stared after the goddess. Kalanu had never really met any god, though, of course, she knew of them. Them mostly being Tawa'di and, to a lesser extent, Mana. Kalanu waited just enough time to let herself think she hesitated to think about being more polite than just barging up to get a closer look.. and then she walked right up to the goddess.

"Hello!" she squeaked, almost containing her excitement and curiosity.

Mana's ears turned to listen to the voice, her head soon following. Someone that she...didn't recognize at all, actually. Still, there was no need to be shy. Everyone within the Ela'wadiyi was pleasant, why wouldn't this adorable young one be?

"Yes? Hello," she replied, turning her attention to the yellow-tattooed female. She folded her wings up tight against her back, not wanting to accidentally bump the other.

"May I ask what clan you're from?" Maybe that would be a start to come polite conversation.

Kalanu's eyes went to Mana's wings as she folded them up, watching with interest. She barely seemed to register what the goddess asked-- but then her eyes snapped back to Mana's face and she smiled.

"Me? I'm from the Mantis Clan," she said, "Kalanu Kalisetsi."

She realized part way through her introduction that the goddess was obviously familiar with the pride- which narrowed down the possibilities, really.. but she wasn't sure. And she wasn't sure if it was OK or not to demand an introduction in return. How were you supposed to interact with gods?

More importantly, why hadn't she decided before approaching?

Mana nodded to Kalanu. A cute little thing, really. Tawa'di did such a great job shaping the shattered bits of the pride when he had still been mortal. He could deny it all he wanted, but the pride that had been so close to dying out now flourished, even if much of the blood was not of Ela'wadiyi descent. It was the culture of the lions that made the pride survived, and Tawa'di had realized that. If only Skan would be more open...but at least they had breathing room to have a cuatious wanidatsi.

"It's a pleasure to meet you. I used to be part of the Bird Clan, when I lived here. The wanidatsi is my son." And she was quite proud of him, too! "Well, quite a few of the Bird clan members are my children, but he is the one that everyone else in the pride is aware of," she said with a chuckle.

"Oooooh!"

Kalanu knew then she definitely should know who she was talking to, and she could feel her name on the tip of her tongue but she simply couldn't think of it. Either way, she could get by pretending she knew it so long as she didn't need to call her by name.

"Pleased to meet you!" she said, "What are you doing all the way out here, then? The Bird Clan isn't staying very near here now--"

Unless they were and she had no idea, which was possible. She looked around thoughtfully. She really only knew how to find the Mantis Clan and Shadow Clan from here.

Mana laughed. "Oh, sorry. You can call me Mana. I never wandered far from the Bird Clan, so I'm not sure if my name ever really got out there much."

She shook her head, "No, they're not here. I saw Skan Kanati already, and I was actually looking for Tawa'di...I'm wondering if he doesn't quite want to be found though." Mana was a little disappointed, but she knew that she had done it to herself. She hadn't quite come to visit him much, and though he was still mostly the old Tawa'di, it had been quite a transition for the old lion to become so young again.

D'oh! Mana! Of course!

Kalanu felt bad she had so obviously not realized Mana's name, and decidedly turned attention away from it rather than to it- it didn't really matter that she totally would have remembered given the chance to think of it.

"Ooooh," she murmured, tilting her head at what Mana said about Tawa'di but smiling. She was familiar with the idea of a boy not wanting to be found- sometimes Poa didn't seem terribly excited when she found him.

"Can't let that stop you, though, right?"

Mana laughed, much more brightly than she had before. "No. Sometimes its a bit disheartening though. Hopefully its just my mind being silly, and overthinking things."

The goddess paused, stretching her wings out for a moment. "You make that sound like its coming from experience, hm? I wish you the best of luck," she said with a smile.

Not knowing anything about the situation, really, Kalanu decided it was best to stop at her optimistic, empathetic remark- and somehow she still looked surprised when Mana realized she was speaking from experience. She might have blushed.

"I guess," she said, shuffling her paws, "Thank you. Poa likes me more than he lets on, I think."

She certainly hoped so.

Mana nodded. "I think that's how most males are." Her tail curled at the thought of finding Tawa'di again. He was still...younger than her, and he had been when he was a mortal, but she still adored him. It was weird, being in love.

"Is there anything else I can help you with?" she asked happily, enjoying Kalanu's company, as short as it may end up being. She was proof as to why the Ela was such a wonderful place.

Kalanu blinked and promptly shook her head.

"No, no thank you," she said brightly, smiling sheepishly, "I really just wanted to see you up close, I hope I wasn't too much of a bother." She knew well enough that she often was- or she often had been when she was little. It was probably for the best her enthusiasm had mostly calmed down as she grew up.

"I'm sorry I can't help figure out where Tawa'di went," she added.

"Never!" Mana winked. "I'm happy to be a bit entertaining - I'm sure my offspring would argue otherwise when they were growing up." She had to be a mother, and that meant that she had to act like a real parent at times, as unfun as that could be.

"It's alright, I know I'll find him soon. He might be training a nvwati-to-be somewhere that I just haven't quite looked. Perhaps in the Wolf clan he is lurking. Thank you for the chat, it brightened my mood considerably."
PostPosted: Sat Nov 05, 2011 8:26 pm

She giggled, arguably not done being a child herself. She loved her parents but she could remember the phases she went through where they went from the most awesome lions ever to the most boring and back again.

Kalanu had no idea where the Wolf Clan was but she didn't worry too much about it, Mana seemed to know where everything was and there probably wasn't much Kalanu could do besides spread some cheer.

"Happy to help," she said, beaming and taking a couple small steps back. Mana was going to have to walk away to end their conversation, Kalanu still seemed interested in staring. Gods were very interesting.

Mana winked at Kalanu. She was so adorable...where was one of her boys? Oh well. With an added nod at the end, Mana decided to show off juuuuust a little bit. She couldn't help herself when she had an audience. Summoning a bit of wind to swirl around her, she ran a short distance before leaping into the air, letting her wings pull her up into the sky. This would be easier in locating the Wolf Clan anyway, on top of being a little flashy!
