Pales
Lattice wasn't expecting any visitors at all.

As such she was completely and utterly unaware whether or not if someone was planning to come by. The ghoul had gotten her brushes, papers, and other things and began to settle in to make some Hanafuda decks of various themes to make for the friends she had acquired recently. Lattice had tied back her hair so that it wouldn't fall over her shoulders and get in the way. She stared down at the inks she had set up before she took up her brush in hand and hesitated a moment.

..Something didn't feel right. Had she done her meditations yet? Wait, yes she did. Did she forget something? No, she was very certain that she didn't forget anything at all! She had no plans for today other than to make Hanafuda decks.

Oh! She forgot to make some tea. Lattice got up and started to prepare the water while humming a song to herself quietly.

Dragain
Lizzy had found her way to the ghost dorms; while she never had a reason to visit the ghost dorms before, she had recently acquired herself a new friend who lived in the ghost dorms... And they had sort of agreed to start on a project together! Besides, she wanted to show off the small bottle of pink ink (which took forever to locate) that was now a charm hanging off her eyephone.

Having forgotten to take Lattice's measurements, however, she could only hope that her estimations were correct. If not, she could always alter it... She had kept in mind the design of the ghoul's clothing (since she did not want her to feel uncomfortable in anything too different) as she was designing her a dress; the result was a sleeveless top and long skirt that touched the ground. It was also completely white; she figured that since they were hand painting it, it would be colorful later anyway.

It took her a while to locate the room with the ink stained door, but once she found it, Lizzy beamed, her grip on the strap of the bag in her hand tightening as she used her free hand to give the door a few knocks, "Lattice? Are you in? It's Lizzy!" She would have called before she came, but she wasn't sure if she had a skelephone... Or if she could even use one, given her near-blindness.

Pales
Lattice blinked behind her mask as she set aside her tea pot that she was going to fill with water. A visitor? That was unexpected. Though as soon as she heard the voice the visitor went to 'welcomed distraction' as she padded over to the door and pulled it open, "Lizzy," she said in greeting as she shuffled off to the side to let her into her room. "Sorry my room is a mess at the moment. I was about to do some art," she murmured humbly. Other than her small table being covered with various brushes and things her room was essentially immaculate.

"What brings you her--," she noted the pink ink bottle and smiled openly and fondly. Lizzy had actually done this! She'd done this for her. Lattice felt so touched she couldn't even describe it.

"I see you got the bottle of ink. Such a unique color, as well..." Lattice said thoughtfully.

Dragain
"Don't worry about it," She nodded before smiling sheepishly, peering into her room, "It still looks neater than my room on a good day." She wasn't a very neat person, unless her clothing was concerned.

At Lattice's question, she suddenly remembered the reason she had decided to visit the ghoul - well, apart from spending time with her. Grinning, she held up the bag and patted it, "Ah! I was wondering if you were free to work on that little project we talked about!"

As she waited for a reply, she idly wondered if Lattice saw the ink-in-a-bottle, not quite bold enough to ask outright; when she commented on it, Lizzy returned the ghoul's smile with one of her own, feeling rather proud, "Awww. It is the color of my hair, and apparently, my most prominent feature," She giggled softly, carefully wrapping her arms around Lattice for a hug, "So I thought it fit!"

Pales
Lattice nodded a bit as she moved the close the door once Lizzy was inside, "Do you sometimes forget to put your projects away?" the ghoul asked softly there might have been a small teasing tone to it or at least there could have been if the monotone didn't eat it up. "Would you like some tea? I was about to make some for myself."

It was wonderful timing that Lizzy had come to visit when she did!

"Yes, I am free," she said feeling a bit of excitement welling inside her at the prospect of doing the project with her friend this was truly a very welcome development indeed. She quietly lifted her arms when she saw Lizzy coming toward her for a hug.

Lattice smiled lightly as she leaned into the hug a moment as she murmured, "It is a very lovely shade. You picked well."

Dragain
"Mayyyybe," She giggled before nodding, releasing the ghoul fro, her hug, "Sure, why not?" While she didn't use to be a fan of tea, Xiu had recently showed her that tea could taste good despite how bland it was compared to other beverages, thus making her more willing to try new teas.

"Thank you! I'm glad you think so," Her smile widened as she blushed, feeling rather pleased with herself. It didn't take her long after walking into the room to notice the art materials she had laid out previously; since Lattice hadn't been expecting her, they must not be for their project... Walking over, she looked at them curiously before facing Lattice, "What were you working on before...?"

Pales
Lattice smiled lightly at the giggle and briefly missed the embrace but said nothing about it. Being without her sister had made Lattice much more open to affection from others. It got to the point where she craved it now even if her sister was now attending the school. "Excellent. Do you have a favorite type of tea at all or would you like me to ... surprise you?"

She nodded a bit, "It is very difficult to get a good shade of pink in the ink I am very impressed that you managed to acquire it." She let Lizzy get settled in to the room while she made sure the door was closed before she wandered to the small kitchen area of her dorm again to get the tea ready. Lattice paused a little before she replied, "I was making more Hanafuda decks. They are cards that are flower themed - essentially."

"Would...you like a deck one day?" She asked curiously as she put the kettle on to boil the water.

Dragain
"Surprise me," She answered almost immediately, letting out a soft giggle before adding, "I do not know much about tea, so I wouldn't be able to answer you anyway! I think Xiu gave me... This clear tea that was chilled and tasted mild but refreshing...?" She didn't ask the ghoul for its name though.

She blushed a little, smiling sheepishly, "Well, I had to ask my mother to help me get it, but thank you~" She was actually pretty proud and happy that Lattice liked it, since she had done it for her in the first place.

"Hanafuda?" She echoed, glancing at the materials again before looking up at her friend; it was a term she had never heard of before, although they sounded really pretty, "I would love one!" Her smile widened as she nodded, "A deck made by a friend? Yes please~" She loved handmade things, moreso if they were made for her by someone she knew!

Pales
"Hmm, that sounds wonderful. I shall see if Xiu will let me have some," she muttered thoughtfully as she moved to get brew up a couple of cups of a nice refreshing mint tea and even added a small bit of honey to both cups to rather than just leaving them plain. Once the tea was done she wandered over to Lizzy setting the cups down on the small table.

Lattice chuckled softly, "A very kind parent to help you with such a thing. I would like to thank her as well."

The Engraver nodded, "Yes a set of playing cards that have flowers and such on them. You can play many different types of games with them but I like to play Koi-koi most with Hanafuda," she explained with her voice actually showing some of her excitement and Lizzy wanting her to make such a deck made Lattice smile even more. "I will work on that soon! What is your favorite creature or hobby other than making clothes?"

Dragain
The smell of the mint was rather calming, especially since she could smell it as it was being brewed, filling the room with the smell of mint. She smiled, murmuring a soft 'thank you' when Lattice brought it over, peering at the tea in their cups; maybe she could grow to like the taste of tea more gradually.

"She is!" Lizzy beamed before blinking, tilting her head as she looked at the cards with a confused expression, "Koi-koi...? How do you play that?" She had never heard of that card game before!

She paused briefly, "I enjoy reading... Mostly, uh, romance novels." She smiled sheepishly, her cheeks turning a light shade of pink; it had been a while since she last picked one up though.

Pales
Lattice uttered a quiet 'your welcome' as she settled down at the table so that she could relax a little with Lizzy and have a small chat. She quietly held her teacup in both hands and enjoyed the warmth.

"It is a fairly simple game, it is somewhat about matching," Lattice explained, "and there are certain combinations of matches that earn you a bigger portion of points. Naturally the one with the most points win." The Engraver found the game to be rather stimulating and enjoyed trying to get others to learn about it.

The ghoul smiled lightly, "Reading is wonderful," she responded, "but I've never read a romance novel before."

Dragain
Lizzy followed suit, settling down beside Lattice as she tilted her head to a side, her attention still on the cards before her as she listened to the ghoul's explanation of the game. It sounded as simple and straightforward as card games go, and she wondered if perhaps she could get Lattice to teach her the basics of the game in detail... Maybe after she got her own deck of cards, they could sit down for a game.

"You should teach me one day," She beamed, resisting the urge to touch the cards laid out in front of her in case the paint used was not dried yet, "Does it require more than two players to play?"

She paused, wondering if Lattice could read... Then again, the text in books were printed with ink, so she should be able to, right? Her next statement confirmed her theory, and she blinked, "Really? I adore romance novels, although... Uh, I tend to skip past certain parts." She fidgeted, clearing her throat before speaking again, "They tend to be rather cheesy at times, but I can't help enjoying them! Mother didn't like it when I read too many romance novels though... She said that they were bad for me, or something along those lines." Like feeding her fantasies, for example.

"What sort of books do you enjoy reading?" She decided that she had rambled on long enough, and that she should give her new friend a chance to answer.

Pales
"I would be happy to teach you," Lattice said sincerely and then paused thoughtfully at the question before she shifted her shoulders into a small shrug. She turned her cup quietly about in her hands, "I never played with more than one other person but I am certain you could set it up to play against more. Feel free to look the cards over if you wish." Lattice was actually glad that Lizzy didn't just go running about touching all of her things. It was just more things like about Lizzy as far as Lattice was concerned.

Lattice seemed confused for a moment, "You skip certain parts? Are there certain parts of the romance novel not meant for reading? I have never heard of such a book where you aren't permitted to read the whole thing..." The thought that romance books contained something perhaps a bit raunchy or even just a bit naughty didn't really seem to hit Lattice then again she likely had no real concept of romance and what it entailed at all. "Is it bad to read too many romance novels? Is it like certain foods?"

When asked what kind of books she liked to read she seemed quiet for a moment before she said, "I like to read poetry books - especially haikus they seem very fun."
PostPosted: Sun Nov 06, 2011 6:17 am

"I look forward to it!" She nodded with a smile which quickly grew into a grin when she was given the permission to touch all the things the cards on the table. Her gaze shifted to the cards, eyeing each and every one of them before picking one up at random to take a closer look, careful not to touch the picture than had been drawn on it. Careful not to crumple it.

Lattice's question caused her face to redden, and she was glad that the ghoul wouldn't be able to see how flustered she actually was; while she had a boilfriend, they had never done anything... Well, past cuddling and kissing. The only romance novel she did read from cover to cover happened to include kissing, but not exactly on the lips nor was the female's mouth closed. The thought caused her blush to darken and her voice sounded strained as she tried to explain, "Well... Uh, most romance novels... When two people are in a relationship, they do things together in private. Some of these things are a little... Embarrassing to read about?" She smiled sheepishly, not quite sure she was ready to explain to her what these 'things' entailed.

"Mother said that romance novels are... Not true representations of what romance is like in real life," She murmured quietly, her eyes still lingering on the card she had picked up. Pausing, she placed it back on the table before looking up at Lattice, "I guess she was afraid that I would have unrealistic expectations of my future boilfriend...? Or she just didn't want me to think that all relationships come end in..." In naughty things.

Oh good, subject change!

"Haikus?" She echoed, tilting her head, "Ohhh, I've heard of those! Do you like to compose haikus as well?"

Lattice chuckled a little, "Good, I look forward to it as well."

It probably was a good thing Lattice couldn't see the blushing though she did at least notice some of Lizzy's uneasiness about the subject, "I see, private romance is embarrassing," she responded thoughtfully. It was fair to say that Lattice was getting all the wrong ideas about how romance works then again her Clan didn't really bother with enlightening most of the other Engravers on the subject since it is 'frowned upon'.

"Oh I see. It is fictional then." She moved to sip from her cup of tea seeming thoughtful on the matter, "I admit that I am not exactly well versed in romance but I suppose that was obvious."

The ghoul shook her head smiling lightly, "No, I have not tried. I just enjoy reading them is all, I admire anyone that can write or recite haikus on the spot."

"W-well, I wouldn't say it's embarrassing, but... It's private! It should be something kept between two people or maybe close friends or family rather than spread around or... Or read from a book!" She knew that not everyone shared her point of view though, but that was just the way she had been brought up, "Yes, fictional..." She wasn't sure if some of things done in the books could even be done in real life!

... No, she's not exactly curious enough to want to find out either.

"Honestly, I think everyone has a different view on romance. What might be romantic to me might not be romantic to you." She mused thoughtfully before blinking, "Ahhh, well... Why don't we write one for each other, right now?" She giggled, "Sounds fun to me... Although you'll have to enlighten me about the rules of haiku writing!"

"Ah I see, private. I understand," she chuckled a bit, "but if it is in a book and it is fictional I highly doubt fictional characters would mind if you read about their...private moment. That is what the book was written for, righb? To be read?" Lattice seemed to be understanding a bit better though the concept of skipping parts of a book seemed a bit ... odd. Either way she just was content to talk about it in general.

She nodded a bit, "I suppose you might be right, though I have no idea what I would consider romantic."

...What would she consider romantic? She had no clue.

"Well the first line you recite should be five syllables in the second line it should be seven syllables and then you end the haiku with five syllables again. It is a bit like finishing as you started it. I hope I explained it properly," She explained as best as she could.
PostPosted: Sun Nov 06, 2011 8:57 am

She couldn't help chuckling, "I guess you are right about that!" She still wasn't sure she could deal with reading those scenes though, even if Lattice made sense.

"Hm... Romantic could be anything really!" She liked this topic, although her idea of romance had changed over the months, especially now that she had a boilfriend who was much more experienced with these things, "I used to think that moonlight walks along the beach or an outdoor dinner was romantic... And I still do, but little things can be romantic too! Like... Holding hands while walking. Or the way he kisses your lips..." She blushed, clearing her throat, "Lots of things!"

She frowned at the explanation before holding up both her hand, "So I believe that-" For each syllable, one finger went up till she reached five. Then all of her fingers went down again, "I had just made a haiku-" Seven fingers, up and then down.

"Right now on the spot?" Five fingers, and this time, she tilted her head, looking at Lattice with a hopeful expression.

"If you want I could read them out loud for you...?" Lattice felt the need to offer. If Lizzy was skittish about reading them herself then maybe she would read the passages for Lizzy to show her that it really was no big deal!

The ghoul tilted her head thoughtfully and then shrugged her shoulders slightly with a small chuckle, "I am afraid I will probably never experience such things. My Clan does not encourage such dalliances," she smiled lightly as she looked down and fussed at her teacup some more. "I shall perhaps have to live vicariously through you in some instances of your romance." She felt that the word 'some' was very important to emphasize.

Lattice seemed to be counting along with Lizzy and gave a small chuckle and a nod. She seemed to gaze toward her ceiling for a moment, "My friend is Lizzy. She is very kind to me. She enjoys romance."

It was lame but she did say on the spot.
PostPosted: Sun Nov 06, 2011 8:43 pm

"NO!" She said, a little too loudly as she blushed before shaking her head, holding up a hand, "A-ah, no... There is no need for that... But thank you, I appreciate the gesture!" She just wasn't sure being read to would make her less embarrassed by those particular paragraphs.

"Aww, really...?" She couldn't help feeling a little sad for Lattice, since she had always thought that romance should be enjoyed by all. However, she wasn't about to question how she was brought up since her own mother had been pretty strict with her upbringing and all. She giggled, "Mac is only romantic when he wants to be."

Lattice's haiku would prompt cheering as well as clapping from Lizzy. When she quietened down, she seemed to pause for a moment before speaking again, "Lattice is my friend. I am glad to have met her. She's a gentle soul."

Lattice startled at the sudden outburst and then actually laughed a little greatly amused as if Lizzy had said something genuinely funny just then. A hand rose as she waved at the other ghoul, "Alright, I will not read those passages for you."

She shrugged her shoulders in response, "It is so. I doubt anyone would wish to be with me, so all is fair enough for me I suppose," after all who would want to be with someone that pierced them each time they embraced or did anything? It never bothered her to hug her Sister or vice versa but they knew how to avoid harming each other - usually. "Your Mac has the temperament of a cat it seems. I have read that cats are only affectionate on their own terms."

The Engraver smiled slightly at the cheer and clapping and then fell silent to listen to Lizzy's return Haiku. Lattice clapped lightly and let out a small happy sound, "These are fun to do. I enjoy reciting them. Do you enjoy it?"
PostPosted: Mon Nov 07, 2011 6:19 am

"This might be a little... Childish of me, but-" She blushed, pausing momentarily, "I think there is someone out there for everyone. Maybe it's not just that one person, but I'm sure there is someone out there whom you will take a liking to in that way, and who will reciprocate your feelings." At least, that was what she believed.

"A cat?" She mused over this before giggling, "Oh, but he's very affectionate." He seemed to enjoy kissing her a lot, for starters, although lately his kisses seemed to have gotten more desperate for some reason, "I think he's more of a puppy... Maybe the two of you will meet one day!"

Lattice's haiku was met with a delighted giggle; this was almost like a game! She paused, tapping a finger on her chin thoughtfully as she tried to piece a haiku together, "I enjoy them too. Let's see how long we can last. It's like a challenge!"

Lattice listened to Lizzy's thoughts and shook her head, "I do not think that is childish at all. I think that is a very wonderful thought to have," she replied softly. There was nothing she could really think to say as even if there was someone out there for her she would probably have to let them go or they would have to fight with her loyalties to her clan whichever came first. In the Engraver's eyes it just wasn't worth it.

She tilted her head as Lizzy described her boilfriend and chuckled lightly, "Yes perhaps we will," she replied simply.

The Engraver seemed thoughtful, "This is like a game. Simply for our enjoyment. The challenge is met."

"Really?" She blushed, feeling thirsty all of a sudden and picking up her cup to take a sip of her tea. She then rolled the cup in her hands as she smiled, "I'm glad you think so..." She was almost afraid that Lattice would find her silly for having such ideas about romance and love.

"If you want, I could always... Loan you one of my romance novels?" She offered with a tilt of her head, wondering if she would be interested in reading one for herself.

"This is really fun." She giggled, and then cleared her throat quickly, "We should do this more often. Thoughts on the matter?"

"I truly do," Lattice said with a small smile, "it is something to think about for certain."

Lattice paused thoughtfully before she nodded slowly, "Certainly, I will give one a try and if I don't like it I will simply blame you," she smiled a bit more showing that she was teasing the other ghoul. Lattice would give the novels an honest try and if she didn't enjoy them then that would be that.

"I agree very much." Lattice began thoughtfully, "This is difficult but fun. But I like trying."
PostPosted: Mon Nov 07, 2011 9:20 pm

"Maybe I shouldn't loan you one then," She giggled, teasing her back as she took another sip of tea, "I wouldn't want to be blamed if you do not like the book! Ohh, or you could pick one out yourself." To her, they were a sort of guilty pleasure and she didn't keep many of them on her; maybe they could go check out a book store somewhere.

"I feel the same way." She nodded, pausing to think before she continued, "Though this is hard to keep up... We should do this more."

Lattice chuckled slightly and nodded a bit, "Picking one out would be fine as well, whichever you think is best in all honesty." Not that the Engraver would suddenly go and destroy the book in a fit of displeased rage if she borrowed it from Lizzy. Lizzy would probably find it returned to her in the same condition it left if not better.

The Engraver seemed thoughtful for a moment, "For now I believe. It is time to take a break. And work on the dress?"

The ghoul seemed rather proud of her ability to switch in between the activities in such a manner.
