 L'envoi was far out from his normal pride range. His gathering bag was astonishingly empty. The plant he'd been sent out to collect was surprisingly scarce. Having checked all his normal spots, L'envoi realized he would have to go out much further this time. It would take some time for the plant to rebound within the pride's territory. While going beyond the borders didn't bother him, he did regret that it would take longer to find and get the plants back. He would probably have to hunt at least once while he was out there. Hopefully the plants wouldn't wilt before he got back.
His paws turned toward the border. It took him half a day just to reach an area where he might find some. As he prowled through the bushes, his ears picked up the tiny sounds of smaller animals scurrying away. A smile crossed his lips as he let them. His eyes distracted for a moment from the non-moving plants to trying to find the animal.

 "Oh please!" Came an hopeless plea, as a gangly looking young lioness stumbled after the fleeing animals. It was clear that she had no idea what she was doing, it was just as clear that she was about to loose her meal. The painful sight ended at last with a desperate lunge that missed the rabbit by a mile and ended with the young female face first in the dirt.
Rather than get up she lay there making a faint whimpering sound that was almost drowned out by the sound of her stomach growling. "Oh shut up." She grumbled faintly into the dirt.

He was about to turn his attention back to the plants when a hare burst through the bush and ran straight at him. L'envoi startled by the sudden emergence automatically caught and killed it. Remorsefully he looked down at it. He hadn't needed to kill it. A voice and stomach growl on the other side of the bush made him blink. Appearantly he wasn't alone. Daintily picking up the rabbit he pushed his head through the bush.
"Um.... I think this is yours......"

When she lifted her head, he would find himself staring into almost burnt orange eyes that brightened seeing the rabbit. "Oh! Oh thank you sir." Her smile was welcoming as she scrambled to her feet. Ducking her head in embarrassment, Xho pawed the dirt a moment. "I am afraid I am not a very good hunter."
She wasn't much more than a girl really, barely grown into adulthood. "I'm Xho, thank you for catch my dinner for me."

"You're most welcome miss. I was afraid I'd killed it for no purpose and it would go to waste. I'm pleased you will enjoy it." He chuckled and laid the rabbit in front of her.
"L'envoi. A pleasure to meet you Xho." L'envoi pushed fully past the bush to sit down looking at her. He hadn't expected to find anyone out here, but he really shouldn't have expected to run into no one. It was the rogue lands after all.
"Your skill will grow Xho. Never give up on yourself." He purred reassuringly.

Her giggle was soft as sweet as she beamed happily at him. "So my father says but I am still all paws and falls. My brother are both wonderful hunters.." Her voice trailed off as a sad look entered her eyes.
Shaking the sadness away she pulled the meal closer,"Would you like some as well? You were the one that caught it after all."

L'envoi found himself smiling back. She seemed so sweet. "Well he is right. You'll grow out of it and if you keep practicing you'll be a great huntress." He caught the sadness in her eyes and leaned a little closer. "What's wrong? Is it something I can help with?" The plants could wait a little bit.
The black male shook his head at her offer. "Very kind of you to offer, but you go ahead. I'm not really hungry. If you don't mind though, I'd like to keep you company while you eat," he smiled

"Oh please do!" She wiggled happily, her tail curling around her haunches as she sat down. When he asked what had made her sad she sighed softly looking down, "I had to leave them, my mother and brothers to go live with my father. I love him too, it is just not the same. I miss them."
She shrugged with a faint smile, "I am happy with my father, I really am but it is hard to go from living with a large family to just being to the two of us." Lowering her head to the rabbit, she ate quickly and as neatly as she could, careful not to make a mess.

He was pleased when she welcomed his company. L'envoi settled down comfortably. "Ah. At least you still have your memories of them. Perhaps you could go visit now and then?" He twiched his ears encouragingly.
"Ah, it can get lonely. I don't have any family in my pride, so I get a little lonely myself sometimes. If you need someone to listen to you I have a bit of free time."

Xho shook her head sadly when she had finished her meal, "No. It is not safe for me there. That is why momma sent me away to start with. There were bad lions there that would have hurt me she said." Xho had never doubted her mother and brother's ability to protect her, but apparently her mother had.
When he admitted he was lonely too, she scooted to snuggle against his side with a sweet, trusting smile. "I know! We will spend some time together then neither of us will be lonely!"

"I'm sorry you had to leave. At least you are safer now." He purred to reassure her. L'envoi had done some traveling so he knew that the rogue lands weren't perfectly safe. They were still better than a place where you know you weren't welcomed.
When she snuggled up to him, he grinned. "That sounds like an excellent offer Xho."
