Doyle had left Katarina and was out traveling. He had seen the flier for the traveling caravan but decided not to go with them. They would be too slow for his liking right now. After all he had just received word from HQ about doing a investigation. Seems there have been reports about a strange pokemon attacking grunts at a smaller and newer base. It was in the Howling Woods, Team Rocket had moved there after the disaster in Motterossa. The only reason Doyle knew about this was due to the blabber mouth who had told him about the mission.

He was steadily making his way to the Howling Woods but had to make a stop before getting there. He was to meet his temporary partner in Seatence Valley near the great lake. He didn't know anything about his temp. partner other than she was female and knew more about the land than him. He sighed as he continued walking drawing ever closer to the lake and the meeting area.

Ark was out and scurrying around. She was enjoying the journey so far, having met some strange wild pokemon and seeing new sights. Of course the sights were more interesting to her. More things for her to investigate and sneak around. She darted out of the grass and poked her head up. She spotted Doyle moving away and rushed to catch up.

Genesis looks around at the colorful flowers dotting the gentle slopes and hills of Seatence Valley, her hands subdued within her pockets and her eyes drifting lazily across the scene. She slowly recalled the strange Jirachi appearance that had occurred earlier, less than a month ago. After such an experience, she had planned to return to her place in Motterossa, where she would no doubt spend the first few days chasing the bugs from her practically abandoned home and then the next few resting before work called again. Unfortunately, it had called too soon.

Before she had even reached the place, she was contacted and was told to meet up with a temporary partner in the Valley (and, at the very least, she was glad she had been heading towards the general location although at the same time, she guessed that she had been chosen for the job due to her proximity to the area, too). They were to investigate the strange attacks that were occurring in the nearby forest, and eliminate it. Assuming the problem would be the ghost Pokémon the forest was known for, she sighed.

Close by but hiding within the shadowed fringes of the Valley, Erebos padded diligently in-line with his partner, but far enough away that they wouldn't be thought to be Trainer and Pokémon by any meandering human. When they were near the location of the meeting, a secluded field of grass close to the lake, he darted ahead to scout the area.

Doyle kept traveling, walking quite fast. He was trying to hurry so his temp partner wouldn't have to wait. Plus this was a mission and there is no taking your time when it comes to the job. So it was no surprise to find him still traveling as night began to fall. He had reached the lake in the late afternoon so hopefully he would reach the Valley sometime during the night. He could meet his partner in the darkness of the night or wait until morning. Didn't matter to him how they met.

Night had fully fallen when he had finally reached the Valley. It was a good thing there was a full moon and that he had Ark. She led the way ever since it grew too dark for him to see. She would pop up just before he hit an obstacle and utter a sharp 'ru' noise. Doyle was glad that he had been out traveling this way before he got the call from HQ.

Ark was sticking close to Doyle's side, only running ahead to check out the ground. She could see fine in the dark and loved being in the dark. So she made it her job to make sure the way was clear for Doyle as she didn't want her trainer to get hurt. Finally reaching the flowered Valley she paused and sniffed. She scented another pokemon and a human. Her form shimmered as an illusion began to fall into place. A huge Arcanine suddenly appeared where she stood; she had taken on the form of Doyle's sister's Arcanine Vincent.

Erebos flicked his tail after a thorough inspection of the area, deeming it safe. He then sat, his ears raised, waiting expectantly for both Genesis and the ones they were to meet. He knew now that there was no reason for him and his trainer to play the part of strangers and although he would never show it, he was glad when she was close by, for she was the only one he could truly tolerate.

Suddenly, a sound rang across the distance. It was quiet, but still there: a soft "ru!" of warning. He knew he could anticipate either the Rocket member they were to meet or a stranger, with the former being the higher probability considering the time and the location, but he recognized the sound as a Zorua's, and he was reminded of his encounters with one earlier before, encounters that had been far from savory. The fur of his neck bristled and he stood and closed the distance between Genesis and himself, searching for the source of the sound. When he spotted the large Arcanine, his eyes narrowed warily.

Genesis, upon looking up, noticed that her partner had yet to appear. Instead, Erebos was waiting patiently for her, but before she could reach him, he came to her instead. She noted instantly the suspicious rise of fur along his spine and turned to see the cause of his behavior. Soon, she, too, saw the amiable Arcanine padding towards them. However, she lacked the sensitive hearing (and, therefore, the giveaway call) Erebos held, and could only assume that his surprise was the same as hers.

"Alexa?" she called hesitantly, her eyes not as well adjust as her Pokémon's in the dark.

Ark bounded forward as Vincent wagging her tail. She had only met the huge Arcanine but she already knew how he would act. She kept silent, any noise she made would shatter the illusion. She soon spotted the Lucario and the human it was with. When the human spoke she froze. Apparently this wasn't that great of a disguise since the human knew this form. She cocked her head as if questioning the human.

Doyle had not been surprised when Ark used Illusion. He was a little surprised to see her pick his sister Arcanine as the disguise. Shaking his head he allowed her to move ahead. He soon heard a girl call out 'Alexa'. So who ever they were meeting had met his sister. He silently moved forward his dark clothes blending in with the night. His night vision had kicked in and he could make out the shapes of a human and a pokemon. He couldn't see anything else other than their shapes but it was enough. "No certainly not Alexa. She has nothing to do with the Team." He called out as he walked up next to Ark.

Genesis suspiciously kept her eye on the Arcanine while peering about for his trainer. She didn't think Alexa would be the type to be a part of Team Rocket, but then again, she hoped she had appeared that way, too. Before this could be confirmed, however, the Pokémon's owner spoke, and his deep voice was certainly not Alexa's.

She scrutinized the trainer when he came close, wondering who he was and how he knew Alexa and had her Arcanine with him. Were they friends? Siblings? Or had the female trainer lost her Pokémon to one of the thefts Team Rocket was well-known for? If so, Vincent must not have had such a close bond with his trainer as she had thought, for he appeared anything but devastated.

"And you do?" she finally asked, her voice casual and carrying no hint of suspicion, waiting for a confirmation before choosing to divulge any information.

Erebos twitched his ear at the word "Team," his eyes flickering to rest on the trainer's. The male didn't appear tense as an Officer may have been, nor did he carry the easy gait of one who had aimlessly wandered here. If he had come, it was on purpose, and he touched Genesis' leg lightly with his tail to signal it.

Doyle sized up the female as best as he could. Certainly she must be the partner HQ had set up for him. Who else would be out here in the middle of the night. When she asked her question he raised an eyebrow. "And why exactly should I tell you that? What if you are a trainer who is just camping here for the night? Or even worse.... an officer?" He questioned, "I suppose if you are either of those.... I'll just go on about my way. I have things to see, people to meet.... goals to accomplish." He smirked at that knowing that his questioning most likely gave him away as an agent of Team Rocket.

Ark noticed the way the human female was looking at her and then Doyle. It proved that the human did indeed know this form which made it useless. She moved closer to Doyle before her body shimmered. The illusion fell revealing her true Zorua form. "Rrrruuuuu."

Doyle sighed when Ark changed. "Ark you know you're supposed to keep it up even if they recognize the form. You certainly blew any cover we might have had." With that he turned to the other person, "So you're the agent HQ set me up with. Names Doyle and that's Ark. Apparently you know my sister's Arcanine. How is that?"

Genesis gave a small smile at the obvious questioning, her settling shoulders showing she believed him to be the man they had come looking for. By now, he was close enough for her to make out dimly in the cold sliver of moonlight, and she affixed his face to memory, on the chance they would have to meet again after their current mission.

When his Pokémon revealed her true form, she raised a brow, her mouth settling into their normal frown. After her first experience with Zoruas, they weren't her favorite of species, especially with their ability of illusion. At least they were rare, and this one was on her team now (and incapable of spouting human words).

"Genesis," she said by way of reply, offering her hand. "This is Erebos. I met Alexa during the Jirachi incident that happened a while back," she said, but offered few other details. After the words had left her lips, she suddenly recalled Alexa mentioning her brother, along with the fate of a particularly aggressive Archen, and she began to grow wary once more.

Erebos had been raised to believe that complete obedience was a sign of loyalty, and that anything that deviated from it was punished, swiftly and with no remorse. Because of this, he could not help but to see the Zorua in a negative light after she had transformed back without proper command. At the same time, he realized that they would need to work together on this and refrained from showing his disapproval, instead choosing to tip his head slightly in acknowledgement.

Doyle nodded when Genesis gave her name and her pokemon's. "Ah so that really did happen. I was wondering if Alexa was just making up some wild excuse as to why she was so late meeting me." He said with a pause, "Oh yeah.. I have one other pokemon." He grabbed Archie's ball and released him. "He's called Archie. Alexa has a poor choice in names."

Archie gave a squawk when he was released. He cowered a bit at Doyle, the man was too tall for his tastes. But when he noticed the all too familiar female and Lucario he lifted his wings and began to move towards them. "Aaaarrrrrrrccccccccchhhhhheeeennn!" He bellowed. He remembered them all too clearly and did not like them!

Ark crouched to the ground and put her ears back and the slight scolding. She forgot about that rule. But her curiosity about the Lucario was too great. She frowned when the Archen came out and let out a scalding 'Zooooruuuu' hiss at him. Then turning her attention to Doyle she looked at him and then Erebos, a clear sign that she was asking to go up to him.

"Archie! Down!" Doyle commanded at the same time Ark hissed at the Archen. This resulted in Archie freezing and then making himself as small as possible as he scurried behind Doyle. Doyle noticed Ark and nodded. She may go check out the Lucario.

Genesis' suspicions were soon confirmed. Archie, the Archen that had nearly gotten them all killed in the DreamWorld, really had changed hands and was now in Doyle's possesion. It, too, remembered her, and showed its displeasure in a charge, although it was quickly subdued. Again, she couldn't help but to be grateful for the fact that it was on their side now, and it appeared at least somewhat trained, too. She suddenly wondered as to Doyle's past and how he had acquired the rare Zorua, along with the skills necessary to have so quickly tame such an aggressive Pokémon. But, of course, she didn't ask. In Team Rocket, many of their histories were kept from one another, and they all had their secrets.

"Were the reporters and tattered museum not enough proof for you?" she finally responded, chuckling to show she was only joking. Rummaging around the bag she had brought with her, she took out a map, remembering that, on top of their mission, it had been requested that she help the agent familiarize himself with the region as he would be spending some time here. Unfurling it, she turned and said, "Anyway, we better get going."

Erebos tensed when the Archen was released, recognizing it immedietly. He snarled when it once more threatened their safety, his mouth glowing with a prepatory Aura Sphere. But his attack was soon snuffed out, for the Archen cowed easily under both his trainer and Zorua's command.

Giving a warning huff in the winged Pokémon's direction, he flicked an ear towards Ark before falling into place beside his trainer.

"No no they weren't. Seeing how I don't watch Tv often and I didn't go past the museum." Doyle replied with a shake of his head. He did catch the joking tone she had but felt necessary to answer anyways. He saw her grab a map and went to grab his flashlight. "Yeah we better go. Also I think this will help." He held out the flashlight to her, "If you plan on reading that map accurately."

Archie scurried to to stay by Doyle. He glared at Erebos and Ark but it was quickly taken back when Ark hissed again. He began climbing Doyle and soon was on the man's shoulders, trying to get on the head. "Chen!"

"Archie!" Doyle yelled when the Archen began climbing him. Fortunately Archie was a small pokemon and could fit on his shoulders. Although his talons hurt quite badly. "No no no! The shoulders are far enough!" He said putting his arms up to stop Archie.

Ark was slowly walking up to Erebos when she caught Archie's glare. She hissed another 'zooooruuuu' at him and glared when he began to climb Doyle. Turning back to Erebus she saw that the Lucario was now by his trainer. She quickly darted up to him and sat before him. Her tail twitched and her ears swiveled as she looked him over.

"Right, Genesis replied, taking the flashlight and turning it on in its dimmest setting. "Thanks."

Walking along, she adjusted her pace so that she was beside him, motioning with her thumb towards their location and the roundabout route they would take to get to Howling Forest. "I'm not sure if you've been told, but a Rocket base had been found in Motterossa, so we'll be trying to avoid it as we go along. They've been kinda paranoid, and we can't be too careful -- we don't want anyone slowing us down," she said, her voice low but not to the point where it'd be seen as a suspicious whisper, making sure to refer to anything Rocket-related with an observer's vocabulary. "I'll turn off the flashlight a while before we reach the place so that our eyes have time to adjust before we go in. Until then, does anywhere else interest you?"

Once the Archen had settled, Erebos focused on the area. He moved about as Genesis did, making sure he didn't crash into her legs or hinder her pace, all the while making sure they weren't followed or weren't about to be attacked. He had always been trained to fight, to always be on the alert, to always take note of every subtle shift or change that would be an advantage or disadvantage to him. While his duties were not as harsh as they had once been, old habits were hard to break. Especially when it was forced on him.

Stopping when the Zorua (Ark, was it?) sat in front of him, he cocked an ear towards their trainers and glanced at them, inquiring silently as to why she had halted, and in front of him, no less. He was not one to talk, finding the ordeal more troublesome than it was worth, for he often found he could get his message across just as easily without the aid of spoken words. And, in any case, there had been little reason for him to communicate with another who would understand his speech for a very long time.

"Welcome." Doyle said before listening to her, "Yeah we don't want anyone to slow us down.... how did they find one of the bases?" He looked at the map and pointed to the dot that represented Motterossa. "That's Motterossa? Good to know where it is." He was thinking about the fact that was where Alexa lived. "Hm... what about the region up here?" He pointed to the upper region of the map where Inhinx, "Also the main base is here?" He proceeded to point to the desert marked area.

Ark cocked her head at Erebos and then snorted. "Ru." She then bounced up and ran after the trainers. She kept low to the ground and soon disappeared in the dark. She would do her own thing while scouting around. She merely wanted to see what he was like and the fact that he made no attempt to speak, spoke thousands of words.

Genesis shrugged in response. "They were gaining too much attention, abducting both townspeople and visitors and cloning eevees. I wasn't there myself, but I heard things weren't looking so pretty for the Rockets. Apparently," she continued, glancing back at Erebos, "an old Lucario, one that was powerful enough to speak telepathically, was what drove them back."

She nodded at his next words, surprised but pleased that he knew some of the major locations already. He'd some some research himself, it seemed, which meant less work for her.

Erebos shook his head, wondering what the Zorua's actions had been about. Still, as it did not appear to hinder them much in any way, he brushed it off, continuing as he had done so before. The sound of Noctowls hunting and Kricketots chirping could be heard at a distance, the world falling into slumber as the rays of day died and the resonance of night began. But there was one sound that did not belong.

Close by, Erebos could hear the steps of another Pokémon. They were small, but purposeful, and running straight towards them! Believing it to be a problem miniscule enough to not warrant attention, he dashed with silent paws to intercept it without notifying the trainers.

Doyle nodded. "Hm... then it was a good thing they left that town. They need a secluded spot to do cloning experiments." He replied also looking back at Erebos, "An old Lucario? ..... Certainly interesting how one Lucario could drive the Team back and then end up having a member who has one."

Ark was out running about when she heard another Pokemon running in the direction of the trainers. She paused, raising her head up, and listened. Her ears swiveled in the direction of the sound and soon she was running towards it. She saw Erebos also heading after the Pokemon.
