Does anyone know anything about ninjutsu?
I've taken Ninpo Taijutsu for six months so far. I think its a great form of martial arts and I was wondering if anyone else was taking it or interested in it. (Who wouldn't be interested in being a ninja? ninja )

Ninjutsu is an art very subject to frauds.
A lot of people exploited it during the so-called "ninja-boom" during the 80's.
Some people claim it is altogether bullshit, some say Masaaki Hatsumi is a legit teacher of several ninja art heritages and the student appointed by the last real ninja to teach the art of ninjutsu.
I believe he named the collection of his ninja arts "Bujinkan Ninjutsu".
They have a rather unsystematic grading system, which may or may not be beneficial to the art...
They also have a very strict certification system, even requiring a photo of you for their apparently collective database, but also giving specific teaching certificates which you should look out for if you're looking for a school.
Most importantly, though, is to look at the quality of movement and the fighting ability of the people practicing there.

There are 3 branches of legit Ninjutsu.
Bujinkan
Genekan (sp?)
Jinekan
If you learn any branch besides those, basically it's a fraud. And that's a fact.
Some of the frauds to watch out for are people associated with:
Ashida Kim
Frank Dux
Rick Tew
and ect

Yeah I take Bujinkan Taijutsu. My teacher is fifth dan and he has a teaching certificate from Hatsumi. He just visited Hatsumi again last month. surprised
Im not sure if they require a photo though. We are suppose to get membership cards that show that we are a member of bujinkan though.

From what I hear, Bujinkan teaches somethings that include a bit of authentic Ninjutsu, but not all of it. Not exactly sure on all the details though.

Ninjutsu is one of the component arts of what I study. The school we're supposedly derived from is Koga-ryu Bujinkan, if I recall correctly. The master is Ronald Duncan of the Four Winds Dojo.

Masaaki Hatsumi's people are the only ones I trust. Buji means military affairs or martial arts. From what I have read steven k hayes is one of the main guys in that school teaching here in USA I read once that they started calling it Taijutsu because to many people were geting the wrong idea about the school saying it was to violent so thay just used Taijutsu which is basikly martial arts they felt that geting away from the whole ninja thing may get people to look at it as something more than the killing art of an assassin. http://www.skhquest.com/ http://www.iganinja.jp/Other than what I posted above I have read a few books by Hatsumi and have read up on some things I found a wile back there was a war in Japan that involved ninjas from what I understand the ruler at that time wanted to get rid of them so they tryed to kill them off. Stephen K Hayes does not teach Ninjutsu. He teaches his martial art style that he created. Did he study real Bujinkan? Yes. But he broke away and teaches his own thing, not Bujinkan.

If that's what your teacher told you, he's lying. Sorry, but the Kouga ninja were completely wiped out. All the ninjutsu that is left, agreed upon by Hatsumi, is derived from the Iga district.

Laren http://www.wayofthewinds.com/index.htm It doesn't say which school it is. Sorry. But that is the sensei from whom we derive our ninjutsu lineage. I have heard of Ronald Duncan befor he is one of the guys that I am not to sure of in his bio he calls what he learnd Shinobino-jitsu. One guy was saying just what I was thinking after seeing the bio with the list of stuff he has studied "jack of all trades - master of none".

I was lurking on Bullshido, and found this. Lord Asia Bujinkan is NOT real ninjutsu. Let me clarify more. The reason Hatsumi drop usig the N word alot is because he simply doesn't TEACH it. The main material in the Bujinkan comes from Gyokko Ryu, Koto Ryu, and Kukishinden Ryu and all of these are NOT ninjutsu schools. Of the three schools that the Bujinkan lists as ninjutsu Gyokushin is highly suspect because its listed as Jujutsu alot and even from other students of Takamatsu, such as Sato Kinbei, list the school as Gyokushin Ryu KOPPOJUTSU (not NINJUTSU), Togakure is very suspect as well. And Kumogakure has not been taught. That is why BUDO TAIJUTSU (WAR WAY BODY TECHNIQUE) is used now instead of NINJUTSU. Can anyone verify this?
