Now that school was underway, Castille found that her time spend doing other things not related to Meadowview was dwindling fast. Her classes were interesting to say the least. Well, except for Math. That still sucked. But her new found friendship with Odette was rapidly becoming the highlight of her school days. They had at least two classes together where they sat near eachother, and Castille had no idea pottery could be so entertaining! With Odette and the teacher's guidance, she was getting the hang of working with the wheel and clay.

Castille flipped open her phone, hurrying into the diner to avoid the chill that was starting to come over Destiny City with the end of Halloween. She was dressed in a mildly baggy sweater with "Washington State" written on the front, and the logo of the university underneath the writing. Paired with comfy jeans and warm boots to keep the chill off her feet. She wasn't aiming to look cute, she was aiming to be warm. There were a few families inside, and a couple louder groups of teenagers celebrating the weekend and the break from homework. She shot Odette a text message heralding her arrival first, and scooted into a booth, pulling out the dessert menu first from it's little stand at the end of the table. She never just ordered dessert, but that didn't mean that she wasn't going to oooh and awww at the delicious pictures of cake and pies topped with icecream.

Odette got the text as she was entering the diner and scanned the area, looking for where Castille might have sat down. When she spotted the other girl she smiled, skipping over and sliding into the seat opposite her. “Hey there! Hope I didn’t keep you waiting too long!”

She was happy to be here today, it seemed to her that Castille and Merric were her only two good ties to…well, humanity and normalcy. All of this stupid Senshi business was really starting to take a toll on the girl—she hadn’t been able to sit down and watch the History channel like she used to, and was becoming disinterested in a lot of things that she had once loved. Still, despite the chaos and thoughts inside her mind, she smiled at her friend, picking up a menu.

“My goodness, I didn’t realize I was so hungry!” The brunette laughed as her stomach gave a loud rumble. Her eyes had landed on the picture of a delicious looking cheeseburger and she just shook her head in surprise. “What do you think you’re going to have?”

When Odette made her appearance, Castille put away the dessert menu pulling the regular menu toward her. She grinned at Odette, saying "Naw, I just got here! How are you doin?"

Castille flipped open the menu, skipping the breakfast pages entirely and focusing on the lunches. There were so many good looking foods, and she was torn. Lately she had been trying to eat healthier and avoid really fatty things. She figured that her senshi battles would improve if she was healthier. But dang if that skillet plate covered in cheese didn't look awesome! "I didn't realize how hungry I was until I looked at this menu!" She exclaimed, laughing.

"I thiiiiiink.....I think I'm going to have...oh I can't decide!" She said in mock exasperation. "No wait, I'm totally having the BLT. And cheese fries!"

Odette laughed. “Cheese fries sound…so amazing.” She took a moment, trying to think of the best way to answer the question of how she was doing. She was…well, she was doing. She was existing. That was what mattered, right? “I’ve been better, I think.”

The girl continued looking at the menu, then her eyes nearly bugged out of her head when she saw the desserts. “Castille. Castille, I don’t even care what I have for lunch anymore, but you and me just have to share this funnel cake for dessert. I can’t believe this place has funnel cakes…that is just about the best food in the entire world.”

Being out like this…was a good distraction. She could be herself, no Albireo, just Odette. Castille would always help with that, she was sure.

"But I guess...I'm going to get a grilled ham and cheese with tomato...and I'm copying you. I'm getting some cheese fries too. You've talked me into it. How have things been with you?"

"Funnel cakes are amazing!" She said, staring at the dessert menu. As a kid she would never want to eat real food, but would go straight for the desserts. Her parents would never let her skip dinner to just eat ice cream though. She would always mumble about how when she was grown up, she would eat icecream whenever she wanted. Now that she was actually grown up, Castille found that she still ate actual food before sweet things.

"Been better?"

Castille's face was confused as the waitress took their orders and walked away. "Been better doesn't sound like great!" she exclaimed, leaning forward. "I feel bad saying that I actually have been pretty good! I mean, I totally bombed my math test, but I expected to so it really wasn't so bad." Not to mention that she hadn't recently been almost killed by anyone out in senshi land. She considered that a large accomplishment.

"I'm doing good. That's boring. What's up?"

"Oh no! What math test did you fail? That one from last week? That was horrible. I think I might have failed it too...I just don't really...understand why they replace numbers with letters and make us figure it out. What's the point?"

She took in a long sip of her drink, and idly wondered if she would have done better on her math test if she hadn't been out patroling, then wondered if that mattered in the slightest...she had sucked at math before she had become Albireo...and she would most likely suck at it when she finally quit her senshi business too. She was a history chick. Not a math wiz.

"Anyway. It's not that I'm doing bad or anything, I'm just. Exhausted all the time. I need to have some more Odette time. You and I should hang out more, Castille. I need more friends in my life." The girl made a silly face, then laughed, staring at the window where the food was placed before the servers brought it out. "And I'm so hungry, I'm half tempted to jump up and take the food that's sitting there."

Castille threw her hands out in front of her dramatically. "I know right!? Numbers and letters are two completely different things! That's why we have two different subjects that deal with them." English was way better than math. When would she need that as a photographer other than to figure out how much money she is gonna make being famous?

The young girl nodded, completely understanding Odette's mood. Grus often took up many of Castille's nights, and what little free time she had was spent assuring her family that she hadn't forgotten about them, or squeezing in some photography time. Her work out schedule was a complete disaster, though fighting youma and such gave her more than enough exercise. Sometimes she felt like she was juggling too many things...

"We need to hang out more." She agreed, pushing her straw into her drink a couple times before taking a long sip. "I feel like even though we go to the same school, our schedules are so different. Which is so not cool for friends!" She twisted her body at the waist, staring at the plates with no doubt someone else's food on it.

"I'll agree with you there...whatever that is looks good enough to steal." The person on the other side of the booth behind Castille snorted, drawing her attention for a moment before she released her twist and faced Odette again.

"So this not so great mod youi are in, would it have anything to do with that guy you were telling me about?"

Odette laughed, nodding. “So glad you agree about the math stuff. And, oh, if you became famous, that would be so epic, Castille!”

She nodded again. “I agree. I hope we get some more classes together next semester. That would make things a lot easier, I think. Then we could hang out more and whatnot.” Her stomach gave a loud growl and she laughed, putting her hand over it, as though that would stop it from making noises. “Well…The guy I was talking to you about online that one day?”

The brunette glanced away and shrugged. “Not really. It’s a whole bunch of stuff. I just…need a break, I guess. I don’t know. I haven’t even seen him for the longest time, so he’s not really an issue anymore.” She looked back up and grinned. “Speaking of boys…do you have a boyfriend or not, Cas? I want to know, I don’t think I’ve ever asked…have I?

She waved her hand dismissively. "It's not a matter of if I become famous dahling" she said, faking a terrible accent "but when." Her grin was lighthearted, and she joined in a laugh when Odette's stomach growled.

Luckily they didn't have to wait too much longer. As she looked at her friend through narrowed eyes, the server brought over the food, and Castille was momentarily distracted from the strange mood that had come over the other girl as the scent of cheese and meat filled her nose.

"Oh thank god!" she said, plucking a steaming fry from the pile in front of her. She bit into it, sucking in her breath as the temperature proved to be too much for her tongue. While she gave her tongue a moment of respite from the burning fires, she said "Well...I can't say that I am completely sad about that. He sounded kinda sketch from how you were describing him." to Castille, it had sounded like the guy had wanted Odette to run away with him and leave her family and friends behind. Was he that much of a bad guy? Maybe he was a criminal!

She choked on the water that she was using to cool her tongue. Through a series of coughs and gasps she said "No! No way! .... I mean..." she paused, catching her breath. "I didn't want to sound offended there." She clarified, feeling her cheeks redden. "Its....complicated."
