I'm not gonna defend Kyle Busch for running both his and Hornaday's truck into the turn three wall. That was pretty bone headed and destroying two good trucks was uncalled for...however...
Lap 15...I'm not gonna roll over to all the comments of, "Well Hornaday was running for a championship" and all that garbage. Quite frankly I'm surprised Hornaday hasn't been fenced like this sooner.
Cons:
1) Busch took both trucks head on into the turn three wall at about 130 mph.
2) Two totally destroyed trucks.
3) Possibility of hurting someone.
Pros:
1) Busch didn't wait to wreck him at 200 mph under green and take out other trucks.
2) You can use the, "could have killed Ron" excuse, but lets face it, at 130 mph with the safety equipment these racecars and trucks have, hes gonna be just fine.
3) Championship picture - Are you kidding? Four truck championships and trying to work on five? Hornaday is complaining? Hornaday should have been looking for a Nationwide ride after the second one. Can't exactly whine about the whole cup series drivers stealing wins from truck regulars with Hornaday looking to increase a gap in a series where he's active with four championships.
4) Hornaday isn't exactly a saint. I look at guys like Hornaday and Harvick and the first thought in my head when stuff like this happens is, "He had it coming." Hornaday has been involved in more than his fair share of fender rubbing action this season. And I am tired of the whining where everyone thinks just because he's a championship contender that nobody is allowed to touch him. Fact is Busch still had a nose next to Hornaday's quarterpanel as they ran up on the lap car on a track where there were only two lanes to run. If Hornaday had checked up a little, rather than make it three wide, bounce off the 17 and put himself and Busch into the wall, this would have been avoided. I'm not trying to excuse Busch for killing both trucks, but Hornaday showed no patience with moving around a lap car, and frankly got what he long deserved this season. First race or last race of the season, it doesn't matter where you are in points, if you're gonna do stupid things on the track, expect to get it back. (Part of that rant came from listening to Hornaday's interview after he climbed out of his truck while he was acting so entitled...)
That being said, I don't really shead any tears when Harvick's equipment gets torn up, with the way Harvick seems to like to screw around with Kyle Busch since their dust up at Darlington earlier this year.
