USER
Name: Nathaniel Lippett

Age: 24

Magic Affinity: well ok, i have 2 ideas - i figured i'd lay them both out and get your opinions as to which fits better for the shop and your opinions onto how balanced they are.

Nate's magic is healing. The first is mind-healing. It would require some measure of trust between the two (possibly just due to Nate's hesitations but I would imagine the person being mistrustful of Nate's ******** with their mind would severely hamper the efficacy of the healing) and direct contact, usually done by Nate through touching/holding hands. From there, it's a matter of trust and dedication; if Nate is allowed enough access and is free of distractions, it's much more likely he'll be successful and ease the illness/affliction. Of course, such an intensely focused act as this one, one that requires him to at least partially leave himself mentally, leaves him drained and he is incapable of sustaining healing for long periods of time or doing multiple in a row. Working on or coming near the illness or affliction affects him as well; when he returns to himself, he'll suffer some of the same side effects or the illness itself, while the severity of said illness is affected directly by how long he was healing and how severely his patient was afflicted.

The second is a different form of mental magic; Nate would be able to stop pain reception in a person, allowing them to be pain-free. While immense concentration and effort can allow him to only block pain from a certain area and not the whole body, generally he uses this on people who are dying or deathly ill so that they can be eased into a more eternal sleep. The only reason he could be bothered to use it on someone who wasn't immediately dying is if the wound were life threatening or debilitating - and even then, it's only temporary, until they can get to an actual healer. As above, this requires considerable focus and is incredibly easy to ******** up if he does something wrong or too rashly.

Appearance: Nathaniel is a big, strong man. On first glance, it definitely looks like he'd fit a career more along the lines of killing enemies or breaking things, and it's definitely viable. Tall (6'2 or so) and broad, Nathaniel is used to people having to tilt their heads up to see his face - and, as if that weren't enough, there's no lightness when they get there, as his hazel eyes are dark and heavy and can frequently be described as "brooding". His medium brown hair with reddish tints is kept relatively short, but still long enough that it usually finds its way into a slight fauxhawk (talking jude law slight) and his lips are specked with red spots from where he bites and chews skin off; it's not infrequent that he bleeds from his lip, though he usually manages to keep it from being too noticeable. As if that weren't enough, his lips are fairly thin which gives him the constant appearance of scowling or frowning when neutral, even though he's incredibly amicable and if someone's talking to him (assuming the topic isn't upsetting) he's like as not smiling.

His gentle nature can make itself readily apparent in the way he carries himself, however; unlike a proud warrior with spine straight and head high, Nate tends to walk a bit more weakly - his shoulders are pulled together and head usually ducked down.

Personality: Nate is a gentle man, despite his size. He doesn't like to hurt things or people (though he certainly will if it's required or necessary for his [or Ninanna's] health) and though this does mean physically, he's also reticent to hurt people emotionally; he's not above little white lies to keep people content and placated. He hardly - if ever - raises his voice or gets angry at all; most frequently, when he does get mad, it's at Astarte for her being too violent or brash or loud.

He tends to be rather like a parent; he enjoys helping people with their issues and chatting with them - he wants to 'fix' people, though he would never use these words - and is actually fairly compassionate. The problem is, of course, that he's kind and pacifistic to a fault and naive to boot; he couldn't ever doubt a person, despite being a frequent white liar, so if they say they have a problem, no matter how over the top or unreasonable it is, Nate believes them. While Astarte tends to be his voice of reason, this is one case where he vehemently refuses her advice that it's a lie and will get quiet mad that she's doubting the veracity of their tale. Most pointedly, Nate lacks the handy ability to say no or to know when he's reached a limit. If someone asks him for help, Nate will give it willingly, happily, and without question, no matter what else he needs to do or has scheduled. Astarte will frequently state that she fully believes that if enough people ask for help, Nate would just selflessly continue to do the tasks until he starved or otherwise caused himself to drop dead.

If it weren't clear, Nate is a bit of a white knight character. He constantly looks for someone or something to defend and the morality of who or what he's defending isn't always scrutinised very closely. If his knee jerk reaction is that this person or cause deserves defense, Nate will do so with no fear or hesitance. At some point, assuming that the event is morally questionable, when Nate realises that he's defending something he'd be better off not defending, he tends to be overwhelmed with a deep and inconsolable shame; even the blunt, ruthless Astarte will try to lift his spirits but frequently to no avail; the funk Nate gets in following these incidents is as impenetrable as it is pathetic (and it is very, very pathetic to see him sulking like a kicked puppy) and only Nate can lift himself out of it, usually by means of finding something new to defend and raise his spirits in that person's cause.

GUARDIAN
Name: Astarte - a goddess, who appears in many pantheons, of warfare, sexual love, and fertility.

Magic Affinity: wat

Essence/Animal: Painted Desert Ram - Info on them

Hypersthene- "Hypersthene is the solution stone. It helps to stimulate and open the problem solver in all of us as well as contacting the higher planes of existence that can also assist. Answers and solutions to all types and sizes of problems seem to come quickly and easily. Hypersthene is said to combat irritability, a critical nature and provides discriminating judgment. It allows the holder to stand up, with conviction, for that which feels morally right for them." The stone's name translates literally to "over-strength".

Appearance: big a** horns. I'd like her to have the rectangular pupils that sheep are known for.

Personality: AAAAAAA
