User ImageShe had cut herself away from her companion. Slinking into the shadows, Kyouka silently moved away from the shape that was Reika Kuze, standing quite still at the bottom of a hill. Kyouka wasn't sure what the other mare was doing. Nor did it cross her mind too often. Stopping and staring at something wasn't an uncommon hobby for either of them. They never spoke. Never knew what was going through the mind of the other. They didn't have to. It was always obvious.

The white mare came to stop besides the forest's edge, tugging the large cloak she kept over her body closer to herself. She didn't need those she knew recognizing the telltale slashes of her coat as the same the deadly ghost of the night wore.

A figure cloaked in black moved easily through unfamiliar woods dark eyes, the figure seemed to stay closer to the shadows as the sun beat down through the trees their density decreasing as he moved toward the forests edge one hoof at a time. though as he neared the cloaked figure in front of him caught his attention, he paused for a moment there was something not quite right about her presence although she seemed like a normal star.

"Something smells dead you know I bet it's that mare," came a voice from seemingly nowhere, the clothed stallion stamped his left hoof hard on the ground "Ow that hurts you know," not a word was said by the stallion himself as he appeared almost materializing out of the darkness walked menacingly out of the woods past the cloaked mare.

He hardly even cast a side glance as he passed, he was still searching.

Kyouka stopped in her tracks, the fabric of her cloak in her mouth. It felt cold in her mouth, the article of clothing a little dirty from her long traveling. Her tongue moved in her mouth, wanting to rid herself of the taste of it but the rest of her was frozen in her tracks. She had felt the slight breeze of someone passing. The smell of a passing stallion. It made her heart beat faster in the hope she had found what she had been looking for for so long.

Turning her head, her mouth uttered the words she tried so hard to keep from entering the air around her.

"Akito..."

What had he looked like? Sounded like? Smelled like? Kyouka couldn't remember. As hard as she tried, it was always the same. She could no longer pull up his face.

But she was certain this one wasn't him. The aura he gave off was not something she remembered.

She was thankful, at least, that her voice was very soft and perhaps her slip-up wouldn't be noticed. Nonetheless, she stood there and watched him for any reactions. If she got none, she would continue on her way. If she got one, she would apologize and continue on her way. There was nothing she needed from this strange stallion. Best to leave him quickly fade into the faults of her memory.

Being a dhampir came with better hearing along with physical ability. The stallion paused for a moment her voice was filled with such a loneliness he himself had known also though not personally known he had seen many others like that instead. Perhaps though his own lingering longings were for something he didn't permit himself. Something he could never have because of what he was. An unrivaled monster hunter.

"Akito?" His voice was cold, hinting perhaps at his own turmoil however the question was simple D had never been known for being a great conversationalist. The stallion could hear the parasites mocking coming but he couldn't leave this lonely mare out here when monsters other than himself roamed these woods a hunter protected the normal starborn from all monsters often receiving the cold shoulder himself from those he helped during his hunt for his prime target. D turned around to face the cloaked mare his long mane fell around his shoulders and get a better look at her despite the parasite's warnings.

"You shouldn't be out here," dark eyes examined the mare before him why was she out here in such a state, he could feel something strange about her, but he couldn't put his hoof on it. D could hear the chuckle of the parasite living in his hoof, though he didn't make any motion to acknowledge it.

Of course he would hear. Since when were the Gods kind to her? They gave her something wonderful, than ripped it away in the worse way possible. Akito. Kaname. All her family and those in the shrine she had come to think of as family. Now her fate would drive more away who may get close to her. Only the insane would stay near her well into dark.

"Are there monsters in this forest?" the mare countered, her tone nor face angry. It was difficult to tell whether she meant it as a jab or as an actual question. Not even she was certain. Before, she would have thought the notion silly. Now, after the things she had seen, she wouldn't doubt the existence of other monsters.

"Monsters," the stallion confirmed with a slight nod of his head it was dangerous for anyone to be out. He didn't want to mistake any monsters for regular starborn, especially when he began his hunt. But that aside he would have to get this mare to safety before he began anything he couldn't have her getting hurt

"Obviously this lady isn't in her right mind hehe" the parasite spoke to D Quietly.

D gazed to the forest, it would be wrong to leave this mare at it's outskirts while he went after the monster inside, what ever it was could just as easily harass this mare, it would be safer if she was with the nearby herd who reported these attacks. he didn't say a word but turned in the direction of the herd, after a few stops he paused to look at her as though asking her to walk with him as he escorted her back to where he believed she came from.

He would take her home then return to hunt the forest monster, not that he knew he'd lead it right to the herd...

The pale mare hesitated, looking back behind her as if she expected someone to follow her out. Like she was leaving something behind. Mother had always taught her not to follow strange stallions that were not brought to her room. She was never allowed to go anywhere else with them. It wasn't that she was taught anything harmful would happen. It was just her family culture. Even now, the customs stuck with her. Meeting with the opposite sex by mistake was one thing. Allowing them to lead her away from her home was quite another.

But she was also so very lonely. Turning back would give her nothing but painful memories and frights. And it wasn't like she was a stranger to those warnings one would normally give their daughter. Instead of inviting it into their rooms at night...

Sighing, Kyouka decided she might as well follow. The thought of what she would be returning to outweighed any small fear she might have had for this stranger who carried a weapon. Obediently, she moved her hooves to follow him, tugging the cloak still closer around her. She would be fortunate if he thought the pale red on her lips was due to vanity and not the blood that sometimes flowed from there.

"What kinds of monsters?" she asked quietly, dark brown eyes on anything but the stallion. Guilt played on her heart. This was wrong. She knew it was wrong to leave the shrine. But she was always so lonely...
