Straightening from the display she was eying critically, deciding whether or not she should bother taking a large box of them to Helen as inducement to embark upon what could only be called a business venture, Daphne smiled at the customer. "Not everything no. A lot of the fudge behind the counter is made down there." A finger pointed to the quaint, almost ridiculously small setup in a corner portion of the store that was adjoined to the front counter displays.

"We also do dip most of the things that are chocolate-covered fresh as well. I'm afraid I haven't quite graduated to that yet but I can guarantee that the guy that does them is almost mathematically exact with how cleanly he does it." It was one of the many things that Daphne highly approved of about her navy-haired co-worker. "Smells great in here though because of the fudge. I go home every day and smell like chocolate for hours. There are worse things though, don't you think?" Amber eyes were lively, oddly the emotion not forced. Daphne was having a good day apparently!

"Is there something I can help you with?"

Being that she was incredibly dense and hadn't yet realized flirting unless it slapped her in the face, Daphne only beamed more and crooked a finger towards the counter. "I've heard agreement on that point for sure. I'm afraid my new housemate will disagree though, if I come home smelling delicious but without any chocolate to share!" Light on her sneakered feet the teen dashed behind the glass showcase, sliding open the back of the display to pull out the strawberries in question. The things were massive, twice the size of a normal strawberry while being coated nearly to the top in thick chocolate coating. Each was then laid prettily in a dainty white cup for contrast, to tantalize with their juiciness.

"These were dipped this morning before I came in. We never let the strawberries sit overnight. The old ones are disposed of." The light in her eyes said exactly what happened to those strawberries that were not purchased every evening clearly. "So these were brought in fresh this morning, dipped this morning, you can't do any better." Daphne couldn't stifle her curiosity. "You're a big fan of them? They're not my favorite but I can't say I've ever had any better than ours."

Putting the strawberries back in their case delicately so as not to dislodge the plump fruits from their display the bluenette moved further down the long row of glass. Crooking a finger not entirely suggestively but certainly with a hint of flirting back inside of it Daphne indicated the shining golden squares inside of their paper wrappers. "These are my favorite caramels. They're a little soft, not entirely solid, gooey deliciousness. If you're out to do something kinda sexy they'll melt just a little to your fingers so the residue has to be licked off." Her smile was just a little hesitant at the foray.

Strawberries were considered 'sexy' and Kess was obviously looking for a candy to share with someone. The caramels had stood her in good stead before but if the blonde suddenly backed off, if things got weird, then Daphne would know to behave just a little better. This people thing was hard and not always fun, but it was at least something that she was slowly improving with.

Maybe one day she could actually even tell a joke.

That had Daphne bursting out in laughter that she couldn't quite cover up. It wasn't that polite friendly laughter that you gave a stranger but a full-on belly laugh for the truly funny. Withdrawing the tray it was easy to pull off a dozen and set them in a small white box, closing it and taping the lid shut before setting it aside. "Oh you're the first one to get an endorsement like that. I'm usually not this, well, I guess the word is forward and informative? You seemed forgiving, sorry if I'm off on that mark." Beckoning again the dozen caramels and their captor moved down. "As for the sexy well, in my experience anyone who tries with a receptive audience tends to pull it off. Just find someone interested and they'll think you're plenty sexy."

Pausing behind a smaller cart set-up a sample card was offered. "We do wrap though it'll be a dollar's charge extra. If that's okay you can pick one of these wraps and one of these kinds of ribbon. The first ribbon is free but each pick after that is an extra fifty cents. I had a woman come in the other day that wanted three kinds of ribbon around the thing; the bow was monstrous." She wisely did not mention that it would probably take a few minutes as each present had to be folded into perfect little wrappings. Thankfully for them all Daphne was mathematically brilliant and almost never overestimated these sorts of things.

The only response Kess got to her first statement was an outrageous wink that wasn't really interested so much as Daphne not disagreeing and having a good time playing along with the blonde's own outrageousness. Then all of her attention was turned so that with tongue stuck gently between her front teeth unknowingly, glitzy silver paper was wrapped around the box with a deep burgundy bow. The lines were crisp and perfect, the bow tied with a flourish that made her smile with pride. "There! Silver for attractive flash, the burgundy for just a hint of sexy. Full out red is too much and would clash, this shade is a bit more subtle but is, in my opinion, so much more suggestive."

The box was placed in front of Kess, hair pushed back behind Daphne's ear. "Is that all you were wanting today or is there something else I can help with? You don't seem the 'suck on a lollipop suggestively' type so I won't even waste my breath there."

Sweeping eyes across Kess from head to toe, Daphne clutched the singular pen sitting on the counter to her chest like it was her firstborn child. "I'm afraid if you would like to borrow the pen I am going to need you to sign a contract in blood that you will return it. In triplicate. Then if the moon is in the proper phase and you can tell me what 342 times 17 are then, and only then, may you use the sacred pen." With that last it was laid down in front of the freckled blonde with a grin.

"Or I can just bypass all that, pretend really nice, and let you use it. Because I'm nice like that, you know? I do need it back though because I think they assume I'm the one stealing pens." And she was. But they didn't really need to know that for sure now did they?

Staring at the box she'd wrapped with her own hand, her favorite candy inside, Daphne blinked at the girl's retreating back like Kess had just punched her in the nose. Fingers curled for a moment around it, possessively, before looking at the card, reading it aloud. "Kess." The phone number immediately came afterwards and now, belatedly, the bluenette realized the math had gotten a correct answer.

That was, without a doubt, the smoothest bit of operating that she'd seen in a long time. Unwilling to let it go without at least a reciprocal of introduction the young woman whipped her cell out of her pocket. Yeah, she'd probably get lectured for the umpteenth thousandth time but whatever. She was too cute to fire! Fingers flashed across the touch screen in record time, a grin on her face.

The text read, quite clearly: 'Very smooth, you get bonus points for that one, and thanks for the candy. Oh and by the way, I'm Daphne, nice to meet you. - Sexy Caramel Girl' It was really the oddest way she made friends these days....
