Hey everyone,
I've been going a couple of profiles and have noticed that there are some attacks (both offensive and defensive) that need to be addressed. Mind you, this isn't focused on just one person, but multiple people, so please don't take this as an attack against any of you. I'd just like to clarify a few things regarding what is and is not acceptable in this guild. I ask that all of you go over your profiles and make sure your characters abide by these guidelines. If you are unsure as to whether or not they do, please contact me via private message and we will discuss the issue.
First off, we do not allow abilities that cause infinite healing or damage.
If your character has an attack that instantly kills another character, tone it down to where it just has the potential of causing a lot of damage. I would prefer that such an attack also has a severe drawback for the character implementing this power, just to make it so that battles are a bit more flexible and aren't ultimately leading to opponents being kicked off within two posts. I'd hate to have 20 characters doing their strongest attacks on one enemy and making it so that they're just totally annihilated without a chance to actually do anything.
With that said... add variation to your attacks!
Not all powers have to be extremely strong. Maybe you could have a power that causes some damage or healing, but doesn't really make an extreme impact on the other players. This could be used for minor needs, like a character that was hurt slightly and just needs a little "boost," or a monster that is simply minor obstacle and is generally weak. You could have a power that progressively strengthens with its use over time, or a power that has mediocre strength. Better yet, you could have a power that can only be used under certain conditions, maybe even thrives in a certain atmosphere! The more variety we have, the more interesting the roleplay will be. If you ever need ideas, you're more than welcome to make a post in the main thread or ask some of the other members for advice. I'd like to think that we're friendly enough to be willing to try and contribute some assistance. xD
By no means do we allow attacks that deal with the emotions of another character.
This is considered a form of godmodding. Do not make attacks that evoke a emotion from another character when executed (ex. making someone feel suicidal or have the desire to go on some crazy drug escapade). I am perfectly fine with your character embodying a certain vibe that can rub off on other characters, but if you have ANYTHING that automatically makes a character feel, act, or respond a certain way, then you will have to change the attack. All powers need to allow each person to decide how they react to it emotionally and/or physically (to some extent), and while I will be very very pissed off unhappy with members acting as though no power affects them, I do think that all roleplayers need a chance to have their own unique response to the actions of others. There may be a few exceptions to this rule, so if you have a character that has any powers regarding emotions... message me so we can go over it.
I may or may not add other specifications in the future, so keep an eye out for any updates on this topic. For now, please acknowledge and abide by these rules. Thank you!
