A minimum number of clock cycles had passed since JLB-112 had met its match in a xiuhcoatl named Shaminga and the firefox had been carted off to the Medical Bay. It had been a close match but JLB-112 would never be accused of being a gracious loser. Recently repaired, cleaned, and oiled joints still somehow managed to squeak irritably as the firefox made its way down the main Hallway. It stopped by the readerboard from the recent tournament and kicked the wall beneath it. How dare it advance that far! Or perhaps it was a strange consolation. Regardless of how JLB-112 felt, it made sour, rude noises anyway.

Time for a drink... JLB-112 spun around on the ball of one foot and stomped off toward Gil's bar, grumbling to itself. Maybe there'd be a brawl or something to look forward to.

(I can change the title if you want. xD )

Geilz was floating at the bar with his head down on his arms. He's been fixed up after getting scuffed up in the tournament. The went over the battles in his mind and let out a digital sigh. It had been the other him that won the fights. this Geilz did not like to fight and no matter how many times he was repaired the glitch in his systems would not be solved. He gazed out the window blankly, not seeing the stars pass outside, lost in his own thoughts.

JLB-112's entry into the bar went largely unnoticed. This was typically its desired state, and considering how it fared in the tournament this was doubly true. It slipped into a seat at the bar next to an atomic annihilator but for the time being paid it no mind while it ordered, with a trill that sounded unmistakably like, "can of oil." Of course once it considered the other bot's anomalous lack of aggression it passed a sideways look. Well it certainly looked like the tournament winner, but...

Geilz was awakened from his daze at the sound of another bot and he looked over at the firefox. "Oh," he rumbled, "you look just like my buddy Zhelm, you are a firefox are you not?"

JLB-112's narrow eyes softened briefly in surprise. A soft trill escaped it as it nodded. This couldn't be the same bot. He was gentle, or perhaps depressed. The firefox waved its arms as it spoke in beeps and boops, a common binary dialect:

"No, it's not that," rumbled Geilz, " I just don't like fighting much..." he thought a moment and looked at the spilt can of oil, "Oopsie, you knocked over your oil... Movement glitch?" he asked in the hope that it hadn't been out of fear. Geilz didn't like people to be afraid of him.

JLB-112 let out a hasty "blort," and hopped back onto its seat to clean up the mess, grumbling to itself. It paused and glanced back at the hovering bot.

Its eyes hardened in concentration as it scrubbed the rest of the mess away. "Hrr, hrr, hrr," it grated out softly. When it was finished it ordered another can and settled back into its seat again.

[ Personality is an error in programming. However, perhaps a malfunction is simply a larger error, or damage. Have you seen Gil about your personality chip? Is this why you fought so ferociously in the tournament? ]
PostPosted: Sat Nov 05, 2011 9:23 pm

"I've been repaired, it's just something that won't be resolved." replied Geilz.

He looked again out the window to the stars and thought to himself. He certainly didn't think personality was an error. If so then why was he and the other bots he'd seen been built with personality chips? He didn't agree but wasn't one to argue.

"I hope i didn't damage anyone too badly during the fights..." he said looking back at the firefox.

The firefox's surprise was betrayed by a soft "blorp," as it stared into its can of oil. That was very peculiar. If Gil couldn't fix it, no one could. Likewise, if a hard reboot or replacement of the chip had been an effective solution, it would already have been tried. So, what was left? JLB-112 was not equipped to solve such a conundrum.

When it looked up again, it found Geilz staring outside, before returning the focus of their conversation to the tournament.

[ Every bot in that tournament or any other understand that its possible to be damaged beyond repair. They enter anyway. ]

It shrugged and swirled its cup around, not even realizing how fidgeting is not very bot-like.

[ If it was this malfunction that operated during the tournament. Is this a random thing that happens? Are there certain triggers that cause it, that you can avoid? ]

"It's random..." said geilz. "One moment i could be just going about on my way and then the next i've got pieces all around me... I'm just glad noone was hurt too bad."

he ordered a can of oil and drank it as he thought to himself. It had been a while since his chip had malfunctioned. Who knows, maybe Gilbot had been able to repair it. He hoped so, but as he floated there he had the slightest inkling of a feeling that evil geilz wasn't gone for good.
