Her father had quickly enrolled Mary into Horizon Institute four days after she'd returned home. He said that it was a good school, gracious enough to let her in and wave most of the registration fees (for being an abductee), and she could get into some kind of computer or science study. She didn't particularly care for science or math, but the computer aspect interested her.

And building robots. Just a little.

However, since the first day, Mary had been sitting up on the roof to eat her lunch. It was quieter, and she could watch the city from there. Frequently she'd simply spend the entirety of lunch watching the clouds.

Today though, she couldn't do that.

Today it was raining, which under normal circumstances was fine and all. But when it forced her to be with the rest of society, in a noisy, crowded cafeteria that made her invisible tail cring and frequently get stepped, it was very annoying.

She sat at a table by the window, against the wall, and nibbled at her peanut butter and jelly sandwich her grandmother's cook had made for her. She waited paciently for lunch to be over so she could go back to being anti-social for a reason.

Raven walked into the cafeteria of her new school, glancing around and going straight for the salad bar, filling her plate with lettuce, tomatoes and some green peppers. She wasn't sure what she thought of HITS yet...He had been so looking forward to going to DCU, to be getting out of her stupid school uniform...and look what she was wearing now. A uniform that was worse then the one that Meadowview had their poor students wear...at least Meadowview showed off some skin...these jackets were just...awful.

She was supposed to be meeting Jett for lunch, and the two were going to talk about having a double patrol some night in the near future. That had been the plan, of course...but plans do change. Sometimes.

Plans changed on this day at least. She spotted someone sitting at her favorite table by the window--(She liked looking outside, it made her feel like she had some freedom again) And to her surprise...and her delight...she knew the fool sitting down. With a swallow she walked over. "Mary?"

This couldn't be real...Mary was dead. Raven had watched her die, right? Mary hadn't been saved by Princess Ares...

Well, sure, some of the students in this school looked somewhat familiar, and she thought that she had seen some of them in space...but you couldn't just come back from the dead...that was impossible.

The voice jolted her, head snapping around. Lilac eyes widened as she looked at Raven, Raven, standing in the Horizon's uniform.

Never had Mary moved so fast, or with so much dificulty before.

"RA--ah le'go table- RAVEN!" she shouted. Mary attempted to almost vault off the bench and into the girl. The table, however, decided it was going to take her jacket in its jaws and hold on for a moment. It was just long enough for Mary to fall forward and almost hit her head on the floor.

Almost.

She disintangled herself and hugged Raven tightly, being careful of the other's salad plate. She nuzzled the girl's chest and squeezed, before looking up and beaming at her.

"You're okay! I was so worried after... well you know! Anyway it so nice to see you! How are you? How are you!?"

If you couldn't tell that Mary was estatic before... you could now.

Raven seemed completely stunned. After a moment, she put her tray on the table and returned the hug, gently running her hand through Mary's hair. Huh. It was like a bad case of Deja Vu...like the last time she had met up with Mary after thinking the girl was dead.

Well...if she was alive...then she wouldn't have the chance to die again. She was really safe. Back on earth, wearing that awful uniform as well. They went to the same school...this was great!

"Mary, I thought you were dead. I really did...I have to say, I'm quite glad that you're not." But that knight that rose when Mary died...She still had to pay for what she did to her friend. She had to pay, and Raven...no, Lesath would make her pay. Later. Now Mary was here resting safely in her arms.

A part of her wondered if Darwin was alive too. That would be nice. The dream team back together...like they were supposed to be.

Raven had been relatively easy to spot in the cafeteria—mostly because of Mary, who seemed to effortlessly attract Jett’s attention. He didn’t have a problem approaching the two, though was a bit surprised to see Mary. Today already he’d see a few people around that looked familiar from the Surrounding, but it wasn’t really until he saw Mary that he was just downright confused.

It didn’t make much sense to him, and he’d been trying to piece together a lot of things for a while now.

All he knew for now was that he and Raven had lunch plans, and apparently Mary was going to join them.

He walked over to the two girls, and much like the first time he’d met Mary, found himself intruding. At least this time he had a reason, though. “Raven,” he greeted, amused that circumstances had them once again in school, eating lunch together. To Mary, he offered a similar, “Mary.”

Jett had not gotten food from the cafeteria, as was evident from the bag of fast food he held in his hand. He’d had to take a walk to get it, but who cares. School was school, and hopefully he’d be out of this place before it mattered what classes he was skipping or what he was doing during school hours.

He looked back to Raven, asking a rather rhetorical, “I take it we’re not eating alone?”

Not that he really cared—a part of him might have missed the odd bunch. At the very least, they were certainly amusing. And there were enough people from the Surrounding here (or at least, he thought that’s where he recognized them from) that he imagined he could get away with having a meal with Mary without it reflecting too poorly on his reputation. As long as it was just this once.

Darwin wasn’t sad to not be at Azure Academy any more, not really; the atmosphere there had made him itchy. But Horizon, oh, Darwin was like a kid in a candy store. There was only one problem: hands. Darwin did not have enough hands to do everything he wanted to do.

When Darwin entered the cafeteria, he held had a set sheet of math problems in one hand and was busy tapping away on the graphing calculator held in his other. His lunch – a plastic shopping bag he’d packed with food yesterday – was clutched in his teeth, so as not to hinder his calculations.

Most days Darwin didn’t bother eating in the cafeteria, but today he was hungry, and his stomach was loud enough that the librarian had kicked him out. That was how he had ended up in the library, wandering towards the back, not paying much attention to his surroundings appears. Why should he, when he had some lovely math to occupy his thoughts?

"I'm fine, really! You'd be surprised what that thing did though... Hehe.. and let's not talk about my dying alright?" she said with a weak little chuckle. Nor the whole, "I saw you die too after the road brought me back to life" thing. That wasn't something you could just tell people. "Oh yeah, I'm Bifröst Page" and they'd totally take you seriously. Nope.

Mothra on the other hand... that woman needed her head examined.

The voice of another reached her ears and Mary peered around Raven for a moment. Ah, Jett.

Mary pulled back, tucking her hair behind her ears. She smiled at Jett, though it was slightly reserved. The girl hooked an arm around Raven's almost protectively, lilac eyes wary of Jett. She was always wary of the older boy, mostly because he seemed like a complete jerk half the time.

And then there was the whole... he obviously knew that Raven was alive before Mary did. For some reason, that really really didn't sit well with her.

"Ah, would you mind if I joined you?" she asked, giving an almost protective nuzzle to Raven. Raven was hers damnit. She's even said before she died that she liked her. That meant, she was hers. Jett could not touch.

Her lilac eyes caught Darwin and she grinned again, shouting out incredibly loudly."HE WITH THE CALCULATOR AND FOOD BAG IN HIS MOUTH!!! DARWIN!!! COME HERE!"

Some ear drums were blown out from that outburst.

Raven winced at Mary’s screaming, but couldn’t help but grin, glancing at Jett. “Guess not. I suppose…”

She looked over at Darwin, then gave a shout of her own. “Darwin! Over here. Come on! You’re alive too!” It was hard to deny the joy in her voice as she waved to the green haired male. She really had thought these two were dead…it was a real treat to find that they weren’t.

That didn’t mean, of course, that the senshi still didn’t have to pay for what they did…it just meant that she was a little less angry by the whole situation. But just a little.

Raven gave Mary a squeeze then ran her fingers through the girls short blonde hair. “You’ll always be welcome to join us, Mary. Always. That’s what friends do.”

In many ways, Mary was like the giant space whale they had all encountered on the Surrounding. She was loud enough to cause deafness, lived in her own little world, radiated uniqueness, and always threw you for a loop.

Jett lifted his hand to rub at his ear, momentarily convinced she'd ruptured his ear drum, though the pain was forgotten when he, too, laid eyes on Darwin. Cheer might not have been the best word to describe the emotion he felt, though there was relief that the male hadn't died before Jett could repay his debt.

He wasn't going to fight against his lunch with Raven being disrupted; if Mary and Darwin were going to join, they were both more than welcome, if only for nostalgia's sake. He didn't call to Darwin, figuring that if the male was too engrossed in playing with his calculator to have ignored even Mary's shout. Instead of just plain socializing, Jett took a seat and peeled open his bag, letting out a pleasant sigh as the aroma of salt, grease and processed meat wafted through the air. He made no effort to hide what he was eating or his interest in the meal, though he did lean back to observe the group as he tossed a few fries into his mouth--and even offered an almost friendly little wave in Darwin's direction.

A very loud voice managed to pierce the math-induced oblivious-ness that Darwin had sunk into, causing his brow to furrow in confusion and irritation. Who could possibly be trying to get his attention? He didn’t have any friends at HITS, except maybe the groundskeeper who approved of his habit of chasing squirrels.

More importantly, who would dare tear him away from his math?

Mary? Darwin blinked, then squinted, certain that his eyes – or maybe his new glasses – were playing tricks on him. Mary was alive? And Raven and Jett too. Well. Well.

Darwin’s brain short-circuited as it tried to compute the unlikely scenario, so he eventually just shrugged to himself and plopped down at the table.

“ Hey. It’s good to see you all not-ghosty. Um...” he flailed for a moment, grappling for the right word, then just waved his hands as if that would clear everything up. " You know."

Someone’s communication skills hadn’t improved upon miraculous rebirth.

She looked up at Raven, a soft expression on her face. She felt so safe in the other's arms and found herself staying attached to her more and more. She nuzzled Raven again and pulled away only to come up to Darwin.

Mary giggled softly and hugged the poor boy tightly. "Mm yes. Being hit in the back of the neck with flying rainbow road is a real poor way to go." She smiled at him regardless and nuzzled his cheek. The whole gang was alive. It was wonderful. Raven was here, Jett wasn't missing, Darwin was math absorbed as ever.

She returned to her seat next to Raven, sticking probably closer than socially acceptable and pulled out a simple peanut butter sandwich and started to eat on it. Mary was so happy, she couldn't speak, really.

The meeting might not have been intentional, but it had certainly been worthwhile. There was a great satisfaction in just knowing that the group that had spent so much time together during odd and uncertain times had returned from space mostly unharmed and mostly the same as before. While they had their differences, the Surrounding had placed a bond between them that was not soon to be forgotten. They were able to spend a short while conversing before classes drew them apart again, though this time they didn't have to wonder if they'd ever see each other again.

This time, they could take solace in the fact that they were home, safe, and reunited. Apparently not even new schools, social cliques, space or dying was capable of severing the bonds they'd formed together.
