AMITYVILLE ACADEMY ENROLLMENT FORM

Name: Yǐn Cáng (to hide/conceal/lie low/recessed)

Age: Probably 15-16 (As a male no one remembered what day he was born)

Faction: Monster
Race: Mantodea (Were-mantis: see clan stuffs in post 2)

Natural Ability: Shapeshifting: Yǐn Cáng can shift into his natural form, that of a mantis of roughly the same size as his student form.


Personality: Terrified of females: Unlike most males of his species that view becoming a female's particular servant a great honor, Yǐn Cáng has never wanted to be noticed by females. He was brought up that females are better, and that a male has no place even suggesting that a female may be less than perfect. This is ingrained in his psyche, and even though he is no longer with his clan he cannot simply get over those beliefs. He was taught to obey females, and would be extremely hard-pressed to disobey even non-Mantodea females. Initially he did not want to be singled out, and feared losing what little freedom he had as an unchosen. As time progressed and he realized he had more to lose his fear of females grew as well. When dealing with females he has a constant inner war happening, to obey as he was taught, or to maybe try to break away from the beliefs that structured the first 15 years of his life.

Hiding in plain sight: Because he never wanted to attract a female's attention he became fairly accustomed to not-standing out. Around females and in large groups he tends to blend into the background, present, doing his fair share, but doing nothing to stand out.

Bros before hos: Not that he would ever call a lady a ho. Yǐn Cáng is able to relax around males, but is also accustomed to living in a dog-eat-dog world with other males. If he truly believes in something he will fight for it, but the majority of the time he is willing to step back and let others step into the spotlight.

Never not choices: Yǐn Cáng particularly hates not having choices, and now that he has finally broken away from his clan he is determined that he will have more control over his life. He likes the fact that it is up to him as to whether or not he will do his homework, take a shower at night or in the morning (or at all), and that he feels more in control. He is likely to do what is expected of him, and he's willing to compromise, so long as he has an option. If given a direct order from a male he will have problems, ranging from doing the exact opposite of what was asked to quietly sabotaging the task.

Pride: He is fairly easy going, but if anyone mocks his martial arts or suggests that he is weak he will take offense. He is not overly concerned that he is on the smallish size, unless someone uses it to say that he is weak.

General characteristics: not afraid of hard work (tends to just do things and get them over with), unaccustomed to having his own things/space/bubble (may lead to coveting a few mementos)

Generic likes: natural colors, having his own room, high quality food (he could easily become a foodie, however he is carnivorous)

Generic dislikes: pressure to do things, demanding individuals, technology (it is foreign/new to him), staying still


Hobbies: Martial Arts: Males (and whichever females wish to) learn how to use martial arts as the primary Mantodea method of defense. However, martial arts mean much more to Yǐn Cáng than the average mantis. He can truly relax/unwind with his martial arts, and uses them as a stress reliever. He has some natural abilities, but much of it comes from sheer hours of practice. Eat/sleep/live/breathe martial arts.


Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy? After accidentally winning a martial arts competition that he meant to throw, and gaining the attention of multiple females, Yǐn Cáng ran away from home. Away from his clan he was finally free but realized he had no idea how to function in the normal world of Halloween. When he learned of the academy he enrolled, hoping to learn enough to function on his own.

FEAR Ability: Year 1 - Exoskeleton (uses Barrier for battle system) - Yǐn Cáng's FEAR wraps him in a protective shield to ward off damage. Will block more damage as he progresses. Downfalls: limits mobility

Potential for Y2 - 8-Step Boxing *name subject to change* (Uses Fleet Foot, mantis form has 4 legs) - Yǐn Cáng's FEAR allows him to speed up his attacks, using his (sekret) super-special-awesome martial arts technique to hit twice.


Physical Description: Focused more on a Chinese appearance due to the mantis boxing style of fighting.

Eye Colour: Green
Hair Colour/Style: brown, very short
Skin Colour: Excuse to post picture of Jay Chou say what?
Clothing Style/Colours: Inspired by martial arts or traditional Chinese clothing. Probably cream/light browns/greens, subtle and unobtrusive (camouflage). Anything that helps with a mantis vibe is good. There's some freedom here.
Extra: Slightly smaller (height and in overall bulk) than a normal teenage boy. Skull pin = artist's discretion If he's not thinking about it he tends to hold his arms/hands like a mantis would. Mantis features that bleed through to his human form at artist's discretion.

Honestly? A whole lot of artist freedom. These are ideas I have had but you can throw just about anything out the window as long as you keep him male and a weremantis.

Y2 or Y3 will gain mantis based wings that attach at his lower back

I had tried to look up some differences for the sexes, but with so many species its hard to find sometimes. In the back of my mind its one thing I'm definitely still thinking about, and as I find more info I may edit his size a bit (which I forgot to post, I was thinking medium, possibly a bit on the small side, and I think this will push me to the small side)

Sorry, I did kindof lump his hobby in with his personality, as there wasn't really a place for it. I made a bolded Hobby to set it apart!

And yeah, I just had to do the movie thing because of the fact that they actually exist XD I think I'll leave it in "for the flavor" as you put it cat_whee Honestly I think their best way to scare a human would be to just transform in front of them. That would scar me for life :/

I added to both of those personality traits, but at this point its late for me as well and I can only hope they make sense.

I wasn't sure if Y2 Fears were completely different or just upgrades of Y1...I think I'll try to just settle on one of them as Y1 and one as Y2, great idea ;D

The Acceptance Bin, had, in the last few months, finally figured out how to use the door. Granted, it probably took a lot of ingenuity and a fair helping of imagination to figure out how exactly a bin could open a door, but it did, and it was on the prowl. After snarfing up a few cleaning bills and whatever contents it could get off the secretary's desk (though how it had gotten up there was another story entirely) - including a small hidden notebook that had the words "HUNTER WARNING" on it - it had then moved onto the creme of the crop, the actual student enroll letters. 

Of which there was only one. With a sad sigh and a hiccup, it devoured it anyway, suddenly feeling rather lonely.
