━━━━━━━━━
Fortune Moon
━━━━━━━━━

The wind weaves its way through the trees of Lunar Park just on the outskirts of Chiyoda's Imperial Palace - not close enough to be be restricted, but far enough from the bustling districts that it remains fairly abandoned. The moon rises pregnant and full, illuminating a line of lanterns seemingly suspended mid-air. Beneath it, a man dressed in extravagantly flowing chinese robes waits with hands patiently folded atop a low table, fortune-telling sticks and caligraphy brush within easy reach.

There was an advert, you remember, posted hastily to a lamppost with masking tape on yellowing paper. It had no date or real location, just a time in frank type-setter font.

Xiao Bao fidgeted, seated cross-legged at his Owner's side, wings tucked securely behind his back and out of view from prying eyes. It wasn't the cold that bothered him (how could it? He was used to much colder), but something was faintly....unsettling, this evening.

Svetlanna hadn't a clue as to why she chose to traverse the streets this late at night. While crime wasn't something that would make you want to stay in doors at all hours, it was nothing to laugh at either. Still, she couldn't help but find herself a bit drawn to the advertisement she had seen earlier that day. The concept of Fortune Telling seemed rather silly but what else was she doing with her time? Not a thing. She was taking a well deserved hiatus from her singing career and had nothing but time on her hands.

Emerald eyes scanned the area, looking for anything that might resemble a stand of some sort but thus far she saw nothing. This cause a sigh to run past plum painted lips as well as made her consider turning around and going back home. It was frightfully chilly out and while she was on a hiatus of sorts, she didn't want to spend it ill. Turning, she was just about to leave when she caught a glimpse of something out of the corner of her eye. Just ahead of her position was what looked like a man dressed in extravagant robes with a companion at his side. Perhaps he was here for the same reason as she. Or perhaps he was the one she was to look for.

Either way, she wasn't going to get any answers by just standing there. Remaining cautious, she slowly made her way to the stranger and when she felt that enough distance had been closed between them, she called out timidly.

"Excuse me sir...I do not mean to disturb you but I saw an advert concerning fortune telling earlier. you wouldn't happen to know anything about it would you?"

"Certainly, my dear," Lu Xiong replied, catching her hand in his and pulling out a chair that seemed to materialize from the darkness. "Please, have a seat." The lanterns cast ghostly shadows as he laid her hand flat against the table surface, tracing the lifeline with a finger. "You've come to just the right place." Smiling, he released her hand and pulled towards him a small cylinder filled with flat sticks, each with Chinese characters scrawled neatly on the the top.

"Now what is it you wish to see, hmm? What part of the future would you like to peer in to...?"

Her whole being tensed when he had taken her hand so suddenly but quickly she relaxed which was more than surprising. Usually she was very uncomfortable around men, but something about him seemed to give off a calming aura and so she followed him without complaint. When instructed to have a seat she stared at the chair for a moment. Just where had that come from? Svetlanna shook her head thinking it best not to ask and sat down. Her eyes looked over the table and everything that was gathered on it.

"Honestly, I don't know what I want to know. This is my first time doing anything of this sort. Simply tell me anything that comes to your eyes first."

Lu Xiong smiled gently (the light of it not quite reaching his eyes) as he tapped a finger against his chin. "Certainly, you must have something you wish to know about your future...? Love perhaps? Fortune? Fame - ah! But you have had a taste of all three, yes? Come, ask the gods a question and I will give you an answer."

His eyes seemed to glow eerily bright in the dim light as he whispered softly, "But be careful what you wish for."

Svetlanna fell silent once again putting a great deal of thought into what she should ask exactly. The man before her was correct when he said that she had experiences love, fortune and fame...well half correct. If that was love that she experienced back in times of old, she really didn't think she wanted a part of it. She parted her lips as if she were about to speak but then closed them again without making a sound. She had found the question she wished to ask but suddenly felt so silly for even thinking of it.

"My question concerns love...rather silly as I'm sure you've likely dealt with such a question on more than one occasion. I was wondering...I was wondering if I would every find love and not just any kind of love. The love I speak of is the kind that binds two people until they are old and gray and allows them to die in each others arms even more in love than when they first started with each other."

A fortune teller? That would have been useful when he was a teenager. A little warning on how bad things were going to get. Of course, he probably wouldn’t have paid any attention anyway.

Jeong Shin stuck his hand in the pockets of his jacket to warm them as he slowly approached the fortune tellers little set up. He could not say he was a believer, but sleep had eluded him tonight and the advert had sparked his interest. This could at least be entertaining…

Ah, but somebody was already there. Shin stopped, close enough to watch but not close enough to hear what was being said. Not unless they raised their voices.

Shen-Ru was a little tired from working in the office. Even more so when he had passed the park earlier and saw the little advert. Though he rubbed the little growth from a missed day of shaving, his thoughts clearly showed in his bright eyes. The peddler eh? Making a little stand again for those who we're in need of a little guidance...or something else.

His thoughts then circled to the pet he had recived from the Peddler before...pushing it away. If Wei Xin knew the doctor was talking, or merely even a thought in the Ram's way, he would appear like a avenging angel to destroy the sanity of any situation.

That's just how Wei Xin rolled. Running a hand through his messy hair already, He took the advert off the lamp post by his work and headed to the park. A visit to his favorite person wouldn't be so bad after a hard day's of work.

He whistled as he tucked it in his pocket.

---

Just where did Shen-Ru think he was going without Wei Xin? Did the human finally hit his head in the office or did he forget about his poor little Ram? Wei Xin snorted as he hid in the shadows of his master's path and followed him. He sniffed at the brisk cold air before grinning, His master was off to see a famalier face after all.

Wei Xin sped past his master, who had been startled to one: See Wei in the first place and Two: Did not expect another person around. Shen didn't hurry to catch his boy, just running his hand through his hair again. Guess thinking about the Ram really did bring him out of no where. Well At least it gave him a reason to see the...Peddler.

"Think to leave me behind stupid human! Wei Xin showed you who is amazing!" He shouted back as he headed straight for the stand. "XIAO BAO ITS TIME TO COME OUT AND PLAAAAAAAAAAY."

Again, Lu Xiong smiled his half-smile, leaning forward to pull the young lady's hands towards him, long hair falling in his eyes. He placed both of her hands on either side of the small cylinder containing strangely marked sticks, holding his hands over hers and rotating in a small circular shaking motion. Again and again, till a single long stick clattered onto the table. Drawing back and pulling his sleeves out of the way, he rolled the stick between his fingers and wrote something in rapid chinese calligraphy down the page.

"Ah," he sighed, tilting the page up into the moonlight, ink glistening wetly.

"No. You will find....something far more valuable than what you think is love, true or not. Longer. Stronger - bring an umbrella tomorrow." For a moment his eyes seemed to look beyond her, seeing something on another plane perhaps, in the stars and empty space, but soon it was gone and he was ushering her out of the chair to crook a finger at the man (Jeong Shin) standing behind her.

"We will meet again," he said before turning towards the newest customer.

"Come."

---

Xiao Bao was standing obediently at his master's side, eyes respectfully averted towards the floor until such a time that his master should need him. At the loud sound though, he looked up sharply, wings giving a small rustle of alarm. Wei....Xin...? He frowned slightly, tucking his hands into his sleeves. Now was not a good time - Master was with a client and would be most displeased to be interrupted. Slipping silently into the shadows, he intercepted Wei Xin half-way, clapping a hand over the boy's mouth.

"Master is busy, Wei Xin," he said patiently, pulling the Ram away from the table.

Jeong Shin was momentarily distracted by a shout from behind and the approach of two more people. He blinked, lips pressing into a thin line as Wei Xin got closer. Sheesh, you had to be dedicated to want to cosplay at this time of night.

His attention shifted back to the fortune teller in time to see the crook of the finger. Shin was amused by the gesture and he stepped forward, giving a polite nod to the lady that had just finished up. He wondered if she had heard anything useful.

Shin rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “You get points for looking legitimate.”

She didn't know if it was the way his voice carried across the breeze, if it was the delicate way he moved or held her hands, or if it was the other worldly aura that seemed to radiate from the man, but she found herself drawn in. Part of her screamed at her to gather her senses and stop feeding into the act, while another part; a bigger part of her told her to take in any and all information the man would give her. The moment he parted his lips to speak she unknowingly leaned in and greedily she hoarded every word that left his lips. However what through her for a loop was that last snippet of his sentence. Bring an umbrella tomorrow.

Momentarily did her eyes furrow in confusion but the expression faded. She didn't know much of this sort of thing but something told her that it would be in her best interest to listen wholeheartedly to what she was told to do. She gave the man a curt nod and left her seat so that the next person could get their chance. However, she was sure that she'd not leave without showing her gratitude. Stopping mid stride, she turned just slightly and peered over her shoulder.

"I thank you sir, for taking the time to speak with me."

With that she was off, thinking it best to return home before it got any later.

((Hehe no worries guys * u *// Sorry I was a bit slow replying! I'll try to keep up ♥))

Lu Xiong gave a small nod in response to the girl's gratitude, replacing the wooden stick in its case with all the carefullness of one handling fine-boned china. He refolded his hands on top of the table as he regarded the stranger in front of him. "I do try," Lu Xiong replied, amusement coloring his words and a single eyebrow quirked knowingly.

"Now, how may I help you today? What is it you wish to see?"
