Tall, wide pointy tents of bright, exuberant colors – Nirvani Island's own personal circus is a sight to see! Although, it's only really opened during the Summer, making this a nice hot spot for students! Or so they'd like to believe.. Through the front gate, one can see a series of paths and crudely written signs directing any visitors to the various attractions they have – to the right, one can find a variety of cages as the main featured animals sit lazily on display – animals like the amazing Three and a Half foot rat! Or the Extraordinarily Large albino bull! Even the astoundingly REAL donkey unicorn and pink elephants can be found for rides and photos at a minimal price! A little further is a range of the truly bizarre sideshows, such as the mermaid, the man eating chicken, and the 'torture' chamber. In the back of the circus, behind the large tent, there stands a concession stand of various knick-knacks, some cheaply made food, and tickets to allow guests to play the games just to the left of the eating area. And games do they have! Whack-A-Rabbit, the Ladder Climb, Ring-Toss, Goldfish Scooping, and more! All for completely long-lasting toys that may or may not be stuffed with Styrofoam!

Inside the main tent – well, we aren't allowed to tell you what's in there. Acrobats, knife throwers, trapeze walkers, and perhaps a variety of exotic animals to see? Who knows! All we do know is that it must be some show for it to still be going for ten plus years! Outside of the fence, behind all the attractions and fun, there sits a series of trailers and cages for all the animals and workers to live when the circus isn't running – it isn't like anyone really makes enough to rent from the inn or own their own home, after all – all of these silly sideshows cost a pretty penny! It's a wonder they've survived until now!

Today would be the day – the day that everything happened! Finnian was sitting in the main tent atop a very colorful stool that he normally stood on to announce the different acts during the circus's season. The man was decked out in his business uniform – the true business attire! For actual serious business that mattered! Finnian was in his blue jumpsuit and red cape, his usual mask tied around his head to conceal his true identity as Finnian, the regular everyday man! Today, he was a superhero – a nameless, mysterious, and totally cool superhero – and today.. He was going to get started on a mission of utmost importance. The tomato festival had happened just yesterday. One may think this was a matter of revenge – perhaps someone who had thrown a tomato at him was going to get a visit from the masculine and super powerful hero of Nirvani Island? But if that one actually knew anything about the superhero team of the last decade, they would know that Finnian never took revenge! He was a man of respect, not one of petty hate and vengeance!

Finnian would leave that to the villains – villains that they may have to face today. He was waiting for his teammates to arrive that morning before he could start on such plans, however, teammates that had been called to order by a vague note on their room's door. Elliot and Avian should be arriving any minute now! He sat Indian style as he waited for them to arrive, his eyes close as if meditating while he listened closely to the flapping of the tent's door. Ah, Fall winds were always so relaxing to listen to~ It also made his cape flow so nicely! ♥

To think, Elliot had once thought of Nirvani as a calm, peaceful, safe place. It was the kind of place she felt comfortable leaving her windows unlocked (and didn't get frustrated when River forgot to lock them) and walking around by herself with her pig. But since becoming a superhero, she had learned so much! There was crime around every corner! ...And it almost always had something to do with Popcorn, but that she was willing to just pass that off as a coincidence.

That morning, she had awoken to find yet another note on her door. It didn't really make much of a difference, as she had been planning on going to the circus anyway, but this made it a little more important. But work came first, so after she made sure her animals were all fed and happy and hadn't eaten any of each other during the night, she made her way to where Finnian had told her to meet him. "Hello, Finnian," she greeted him as she walked up. She had failed to notice that he was wearing his superhero outfit. She saw him in it so regularly that it just registered as an ordinary outfit. "What's going on? Did Popcorn get kidnapped again?" She didn't want to assume, afterall. That would be rude! Upon realizing that Finnian was sitting, she too sat down on the ground, crossing her legs and looking at him expectantly.

Today Avian had spent the day watching his chickens run around the yard. Over the week he had cleaned, repaired, and taken care of all the little jobs that his farm ran into now and again. It was needed since the cold air of winter made it hard to work. His chickens didn't like the weather, and neither did he. Which is why he spent the day warming up in front of his house. He had a large blanket over him and wavered back and forth inside of it, speaking to his foul with his megaphone, only to get a couple clucks back. It was a nice day. Until he actually looked back at his door. A summons. By his boss. He frowned. He liked being a hero, but that meant something bad had happened. Avi didn't like the idea of that. He got up slowly from his porch and proceeded to get ready. Only to walk very slowly towards the circus. Sure, he should probably hurry up, but he had to put the chickens back, and as he walked he stopped to chat with NPCs that frequented his farm. He liked talking with the random people on the street. It kept the walks from being boring.

Eventually the man found himself entering the circus. "Hello?" He called as he walked further in to see his teammates. He waved accordingly to both and walked to Elliot's side. He dropped down next to her with a thud and sat quietly. He wasn't exactly sure why he was summoned. He was there to find out though.

When he saw the familiar redhead walk into the tent, Finnian gave her a smile from his position on the ringmaster's pedestal.. stand.. or whatever he wanted to call it. He didn't speak, however, for a time, allowing her to mull on her assumptions for this meeting under the guise of gathering his thoughts so he could better inform his last surviving teammate of their mission that day. In reality, he was waiting for Avian to enter the tent, knowing secretly that the man had survived the tomato festival ordeal of a few weeks prior to this day. He perked as he heard the crunching of leaves (or snow?) outside the tent, knowing it could only be one person.

Now was his moment to shine~ He stood up, straightened out his uniform, and opened his mouth towards Elliot, “Why, not – MY GOD!” He gasped loudly as he turned with a jerk, his cape whipping behind him dramatically in the air like every good cape should. His gloved hands clenched with only one finger – one shocked finger – jutting straight out towards the man who had just entered the tent. “YOU!” Yes, You. A word that could only mean one person! A word reserved for none other than – “Avian.. Avian – you're alive!” Ah! He could feel the salty tears pricking at his eyes, his chest clenching in a mix of happiness and sorrow at what this meant. He jumped down from his stand and hurried over to drag Avian up into a hug of friendship. The kind of friendship only two manly superheroes could possibly feel. It took everything he had to keep those tears from dripping out of his eyes, not wanting to breech the borderline-sensitive visual he was carefully tiptoeing by. He gave Avian a pat to assure himself that it was truly the physical form of the chicken man and not some ghostly apparition, pulling himself back to look Avian seriously in the eyes. “I knew you would come back.

A second of silent communication as he bore his gaze into Avian's and the man turned away to face Elliot too, keeping an arm over Avian's shoulders. He made a fist of determination as he continued on in a booming voice, “My friends! This is a time to rejoice! But, I am afraid.. There is something more.. pressing we must do before we can begin our celebrations.” He paused and sighed, waiting patiently for someone's curiosity to be voiced.

The smallest trace of a frown formed on Elliot's youthful face as Avian entered and Finnian reacted. She was a little confused. Why would Finnian think Avian was dead? You'd think that after ten+ years of working with the man, she'd learn that Finnian didn't always make sense. Actually, a lot of the time it was just the contrary. But still, she wasn't satisfied with that explanation this time. She shot the two of them quizzical looks -- quizzical for Elliot, of course -- and hoped that one of them would explain. In the meantime, she was pleased to see them getting along so well. It was always nice when friends were friends. She felt a little odd as the only one still sitting, and so she rose to her feet, folding her hands neatly in front of her as she watched her boss and her friend. "...Wait, so Popcorn didn't get kidnapped?" she questioned, furrowing her eyebrows. What in the world could possibly be going on if Popcorn wasn't the victim this time? "Finnian, could you please explain? I do not really understand what is going on right now." She reached up to tuck her hair behind her ears and waited for an answer. This was beginning to feel a little serious, which was in turn making her feel a little uncomfortable. What if someone was really hurt? She wasn't sure what to do if someone was really hurt. That felt a little too serious for it to be under their jurisdiction. Oh, please let it be anything but.

Avian was pretty confused on the happenings going on with in the tent. Alive? Of course he was alive. Wasn't he? He looked up in thought, eventually pinching his own cheek. Yep, he was alive. Finnian made it seem like he was gone for a long time... The man didn't think he was. He just saw Elliot in town last week. He usually met with people he knew as he walked through out the island. Yet, it was true he hadn't seen the ringmaster since the Tomato Festival, so maybe the commentary was needed? Avi just shrugged it off. Elliot was bringing up a good point after all. If it wasn't Popcorn getting kidnapped, what did they do? They were 'heroes', but there was only ever one victim. So, it was strange to hear the other man inform them of something unrelated to there specialty. "Is there something happening?" Maybe it was the appearance of a new enemy, one that plays a huge prominent role after the heroes establish themselves, like in comic books. Maybe they were finally going to be real super heroes! The thought tickled the tall, green-haired man. It's like a promotion.

Ah, perfect! Elliot took the bait and asked first, followed quickly by Avian himself – oh, how wonderful it was to hear his voice again! Finnian felt tears tugging at his eyes yet again as he thought that, his vision growing distant while he reminisced of his long, horrible days without his life long friend. But, he snapped back to reality in a second and stepped away from Avian, holding his hands to his hips tightly as he got into position to explain the situation. The same position he took every time he had to inform his teammates of their latest mission.

He normally had a crudely scribbled note written by the heinous captors, but, this time, his hands were empty as he spoke, “No, my friends, Popcorn has not been captured.. Instead, something of an impossibly graver nature has come to our attentions! As you remember, Tigress,” He said with a serious look to her, frowning slightly, “a time back, Chickenman and I participated in the Tomato Festival with our friend, Popcorn. During which.. Chickenman and I were..” He swallowed, “murdered.” He paused for the dramatics of it to sink in before venturing on and slapping a hand on his chest and Avian's shoulder in amazement, “But, here we stand! Alive! Well! And do you know why?!

He bellowed before swiping a hand up to the ceiling of the tent, “ALIENS! They saw the beauty and truth in our hearts and spoke to me with a mission, which I only accepted under the condition that my friend may return to the living as well – which they have! As he stands before you and I as proof!” He turned to Avian now and took a deep breath, “Avian, you may be feeling confused now, but.. but I assure you, all will be explained as soon as we have finished our secret operation. We must set out immediately with supplies!” He knew his friends would be up for it – he was their unspoken leader! “Tigress, fetch your feline companion! Avian, obtain rope and a softball bat! Then meet me at the Sonata mansion tonight!” He had no clue if they really knew where the Sonatas lived, but, well, he wasn't standing around to find out. Finnian had dashed out of the tent and away to the Sonata mansion the second he finished speaking, leaving the pair to leave on their own pace~!

In Raiden's mind, a trip to the circus was the most romantic thing that he could come up with. If only reality could be as magically distorted as the wonderful world that was in his mind. He was walking with one hand in his pocket, the hand opposite of where his lovely date was. This was because the other hand was tapping against his side, not knowing if he should touch her in some way. Yes, over a decade of their relationship had passed and he still didn't know when it was appropriate to touch her. He wanted to wrap his arm around her waist and be one of those outwardly adorable couples, but that was never what they were. Why should he expect any different now? He was trying to come up with something to say, screaming at himself inwardly as he did so. A normal person would imagine that their relationship would be easier with the countless times they've seen each other naked, but Raiden seemed to just be doomed to babbling like a buffoon. "This place isn't that bad. Nothing like I'd imagined it would be, y'know. But still not that bad. The smell is kind of bad, animals and what not." He turned to look at her and smiled awkwardly. He had finally fumbled out something, too bad it wasn't any good.

One would assume that, after a whole decade, Haruka and Raiden would be better at this whole dating thing. They lived together, for godssake, and yet they were still so awkward around each other! Well, it wasn't like Haruka did it on purpose. She at least liked to think that she was pretty comfortable around her boyfriend, but that didn't make her any more graceful. Maybe they were just unlucky people like that. Afterall, this was the first date they had been on in a while, and it was at the circus. Of all things, the circus! "...Uh, yeah..." she replied absentmindedly as Raiden brought up their surroundings. She placed her hand on his arm to steady herself as she lifted up her foot -- she had been moments away from stepping in something gross looking, and the last thing she wanted was to ruin her new heels. She now felt a little silly for getting so dressed up to go to the circus. She was sure she looked like an idiot. "The smell... really is... circus-like." She bumped her wrist against her nose. This was why she didn't like animals. They were so dirty and smelly, it grossed her out. Well, she couldn't let her disdain show, because even if she hated animals, she understood that Raiden was trying to make an effort, and she had to appreciate that. So she took the hand that was up against his arm and moved it down to take his hand. Part of it was so that she could redirect him if it looked like he was going to step in anything (she was going to making him take off his shoes before he went inside anyway, just to be safe), but at least now they were holding hands. "I've never been to a circus before," she tried to distract herself from their surroundings by changing the subject. "Do they really have elephants and lions or whatever? On Nirvani?" What a weird thought, someone legally keeping wild animals in her hometown. Outside of the Sonata's private menagerie, of course. "If they do, I hope they give it a bath first," she added under her breath.

Raiden still got that heart-pounding feeling when their hands met. He tried to play it off like he didn't though, which only ended up making things that much worse. He was almost completely dumbfounded. His steps were a bit more flawed than normal due to the extensive staring that he was shooting her way. She was saying something, but it was all jumbled together into one big thing that he couldn't bother focusing on. His hands felt like they were getting extensively clammy and he could only imagine how much of a turnoff that would be. This fear didn't help the way his chest was already feeling. It was a suffocating feeling, as though his upper body was being crushed under the weight of something very.... heavy. He squeezed her hand, thinking that it would be a simple gesture of endearment. But, he wound up doing it a little too tight in the confusion that his nervousness was causing. "Yeah. Some sort of animal. I agree." He mumbled out before realizing how stupid it sounded.

A few more steps were taken with Raiden now watching the ground ahead of them. Anything was better than looking at her when he had no idea what she had said. The guilt was surely plastered all over his face and that was without mentioning the embarrassment. "Umm, I'm sorry. Would you like some popcorn? Or cotton candy? Or anything? Or nothing. It's really whatever you want... or don't, I guess. I brought my wallet this time." Raiden was trying to make it seem like he had entirely heard everything she had said, but his stomach was just distracting him. That happened a lot, right? He had no idea how but this date had entirely become the most awkward of the awkward. Maybe it was due to the fact that it had been so long since they were out in public. Yeah, that had to be it. The peer pressure of it all was caving in on him and he just had to show Haruka the best time of her life. He would definitely have to suggest they do something at least once a month from now on basically as a rule. He couldn't handle the crispy freshness of dates. It was like high school all over again, except for there was less acne and more wrinkles.
