EDIT: NOTE PLEASE INCLUDE USERNAME WITH MASK PICTURE IF YOU MADE A MASK!!! >_< Sorry for forgetting that...I'm coming down with the flu sad so a little foggy on things right now. 2. "A Soquili Fairy Tale" - [Once Upon A Time] Username: Jynk Main image: Additional Image links (optional): None Story mask is trying to tell: The Little Mermaid Additional info (optional): The mask is made of blue scales for the Mermaid's beginning. The netting is to show the web of deceit woven around her by the Sea Witch. There's a yellow fin design to show what she gave up to be with the prince. The blood red ruby tears are the pain of true love for when she could not kill the prince to save herself. The attached wig is a sea foam like material to represent the treat of her fate should she be unable to kill the prince, but the golden horn is to show her true fate for being pure of love and spirit and rising to the heavens to become an angel and watch over her prince.

"A Soquili Fairy Tale" - [It was a dark and stormy night] Username: Nukido Main image: Additional Image links (optional): X X With NameStory mask is trying to tell: The Twisted Beast Inspired by Beauty and the Beast At first it was fun and game he thought he loved the maiden..sadly his rage was building up inside him till it burst. He could never love a human even if he was once one. He accepted his fate a refused to love a human his mind went savage loosing all thought of her breaking his curse. He lashes out on a dark and stormy night killing her raging into the night destroying everything he once held dear. He used her blood to paint stripes on his face not feeling any emotion at all as he did this terrible deed. He would never be the one he once was he underwent a terrible transformation his fangs growing longer everyday his horns also grew considerably each day. In his rage he attacked himself as a monster scarring one eye loosing vision in it forever. The other eye turned red as blood slowly but surely. He was a beast and a monster never fit to love or see truly..One horn was now broken and battered stuck in the wall through the picture of the maiden he once loved. The feathers on his head tell his life story his struggles as he lost grasp on his human mind. The aura around him only tells a story of betrayal and dismay he has lost his mind and confined himself to a small room in his castle. He dares not venture out hibernating till some unfortunate soul awakens him. He is a ghastly sight to behold one eye gazing forever blind unseeing at the wall..At the picture of his dear maiden who was not so lucky, His horn was still through the center of the picture right through her face his remaining horn was still intact and his other jagged and splinted broken forever. One extra set of horns had appeared in the days after he had killed his maiden he knew not why but he supposed it meant he was a demon one that had done an unforgivable crime. The Beast is only a shadow of his true self the one smiling human prince who held nothing but love for his people. He now was a savage beast and forever would be..Silently though in the dead of night moment was to be found. A red eye opened and a smile broke out fangs gleaming in the candlelight..fangs that had once been teeth. He looked up his crown of feathers ruffling as he sauntered toward the picture on the wall an outstretched paw beastly with dagger sharp claws reach to grip it. He looked at himself in the reflection of the maiden he had once loved he did not remove the frame as his horn was still gripping it to the wall. The Beast opened his mouth letting saliva slip out and fall to the ground putting his one seeing eye up to the picture grinning without a soul "You never deserved what you had.." He spoke in a rasp of a voice one that once was soft and sweet "Look what it did for you..It got you killed and i enjoyed it" he is still grinning as madly as ever his eye glinting with malice and hate tilting his head back letting out an earthshaking roar that would be heard for miles. The Beast dropped back down to all fours backing up into his corner till the next time he felt it right to cause terror in his own castle. As the candles faded they glinted off his teeth and the one thing that had stayed with him since he was sane and human..the single ear ring on his ear the last remaining symbol that told..he was once human the ear ring that meant he had once been a royal prince. Mad with rage the beast roamed on He attacked his maiden one day at dawn Never would he know what life had once meant He had killed his love he had killed a friend Now as he closed in on his kill Would she ever forgive him? Would he forgive himself? Mad he was would he ever know.. What a legend that maiden was? Who had the power to set things right? "Save me now if you dare.....I am proud to be what i am..Get in my way..Your good as dead"
The strange thing was..the beast or so called beast..was a stallion..There is always a twist to these stories. You may be wondering how he could be stallion when he had claws and sharp teeth..That is not my question to answer but it quite true. He is a beast of legend but very much a soquili and a stallion all the same. In the end it comes down to what you believe..So tell me what do you? How does a stallion have horns and a glowing red eye? I do not know i wish i did..I am only the narrator don't all fairy tales have them? I would think it true..I suppose we will be pondering this question in our minds how is the beast a stallion? You tell me the question in clear How is the beast a stallion? How is one who kills for joy Able to be called a stallion? Is he legend or mere myth? You tell me and i shall tell you There is only truth to the matter"The deed is done..Her time has come..It should of been expected..""Additional info (optional):Haha this mask was AMAZING to make im such good at crafting things! Its molded to my face but its funny feeling the strips go on..Its all wet even though there a paper towel under the stuff. I chose this concept because i really love the idea if this were to happen in the story. Its a huge twist and i was very inspired for my story and the mask. I picked brown and not black because i feel it express the feelings more. The ear ring is wire with some beads on it. Its all painted but it was kinda hard to paint it with all the cracks and stuff between the strips. Yay Me! Was unable to get any pics of it on because they all looked really weird

"A Soquili Fairy Tale" - [It was a Dark and Stormy Night] Username: Malikztiah Ankhere Main image: Additional Image links (optional): None Story mask is trying to tell: The Twelve Murdering Princesses Inspired by the "Twelve Dancing Princesses." Additional info (optional): He was nothing special, no regal bloodlines, no great warriors to be found among his forefathers. If anything, he would have called himself average, if not a bit curious. It was on a dark, stormy night that he'd heard the rumors of twelve princesses who lured away the noble, the powerful, the high-standing, and did them in before dawn. His curiosity was peaked at the mystery, surely there was some other truth behind this tale? Unwilling and unable to let the mystery simply pass him by, he traveled to where the stories originated. The surrounding woods were dark, branches bare even in the warmer seasons. And yet, as the moon rose high, he noted that the branches did indeed bear fruit, but none that he could recognize. If he could believe what he was seeing, he would say they were gilded. But that was impossible. Traveling further into the strange wood, he became aware of echoing hoof beats around him. Upon stopping he soon found himself indeed in the company of twelve princesses -for they could only be such, as lavishly as they were adorned. They said nothing, walking away from him, but he felt compelled to follow. Deeper into the trees they trekked until they reached a clearing, and the last thing his eyes saw were the bodies surrounding them, staring with lifeless eyes as something red splashed into his vision. The Twelve had claimed one more male into their collection. The pear and grapes adorning the mask are there to represent the gilded branches, in some variations of the original tale there were fruits on the trees so I felt it was a nice tie-in.

"A Soquili Fairy Tale" - [It was a Dark and Stormy Night] Username: xKOVAKtheWOLFx Main image: Additional Image links (optional): Without VielStory mask is trying to tell: Sleeping Beauty: Disney's 1959 animated effort was the studio's most ambitious to date, a widescreen spectacle boasting a gorgeous waltz-filled score adapting Tchaikovsky. In the 14th century, the malevolent Maleficent (not dissimilar to the wicked Queen in Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) taunts a king that his infant Aurora will fatally p***k her finger on a spinning wheel before sundown on her 16th birthday. This, of course, would deny her a happily-ever-after with her true love. Things almost but not quite turn out that way, thanks to the assistance of some bubbly, bumbling fairies named Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather. It's not really all that much about the title character--how interesting can someone in the middle of a long nap be, anyway? Instead, those fairies carry the day, as well as, of course, good Prince Phillip, whose battle with the malevolent Maleficent in the guise of a dragon has been co-opted by any number of animated films since. See it in its original glory here. And Malificent's castle, filled with warthogs and demonic imps in a macabre dance celebrating their evil ways, manages a certain creepy grandeur. --David Kronke Additional info (optional): The vine on the left side of the mask describes the darkness that occured after Auroa's birthday and when the prince found Maleficent. The spinning wheel foretold her prophecy which brought her to eternal rest until she was awakened by true love's kiss. Then the purple horns shows the trechary of Maleficent with Auora wearing a pink dress, hence the pink face. On the veil, shows the colors of her faeries.

"A Soquili Fairy Tale" - [Once Upon A Time] Username: Ice_Dragon_Demon Main image: Additional Image links (optional): Ice wearing the mask Mask FrontMask SideMask with nameStory mask is trying to tell: the laidly wormAdditional info (optional): A more recent adaptation has the woman turned into a crimson wyrm and when the prince kisses her he turned to stone as the dragon's poison. I've chosen blue to represent the immortality of the dragon, also for a sea dragon it matches the ocean and sky, the mask shimmers like the ocean as the light hits it. There is an alternate ending to this story as well, the woman infused with the dragon’s strength begged the witch to turn her back into a dragon feeling suddenly unsatisfied with living simply as a princess, she craved the world outside the castle walls, the witch complied as a toad telling her to lick the toads back doing so she shed her human form and returned to that of a dragon. The mask represents the form she took.

"A Soquili Fairy Tale" - Once upon a time Username: Dixie Main image: Additional Image links (optional): N/A Story mask is trying to tell: The story of Persephone, the Greek Goddess of the Underworld, wife of Haides. She spent half of the year with her mother, this time is represented by Spring and Summer. She then spent half of the year with her husband in the underworld, represented by Fall and Winter. During the time that she was with her husband, Persephone's mother refused to let the land bare fruit or vegetation, so it was baren and bleak. Additional info (optional):I'm sure you understand the meaning of most of the mask. I just wanted to point out that the red gems on the 'Underworld' side of the mask represent the pomegranate seeds that basically 'doomed' Persephone. Once she ate the fruit of the damn, she was obliged to Haides. The left side of the mask should be vibrant and full of color. The right side should be mainly black and grays with only the red from the 'pomegranate' seeds.

"A Soquili Fairy Tale" - [Once upon a time] Username: Pollack Main image: Additional Image links (optional):Story mask is trying to tell: The original story of Midas' touch. Additional info (optional): The base of the face part of the mask is the golden touch blessing/curse. The tears coming down the eye holes are to show the pain that this curse brought upon Midas in the end. In the story the god of wine Dionysus was the one who gave the gift to Midas, so I wanted to show this by putting the common symbol for Dionysus on the mask. This is why the glowing grape vine and grapes are weaved around the mask, to show that his gift is the root of all this. The reason it glows is because well just to show that it was a higher power at work. The crown was to show the normal symbol that comes to mind when we think of kings, but I also wanted to show he was greek so I put the laurel-leaf around the crown to show this. It's also turning from bronze to gold to show that the more Midas touched more of his kingdom was turned to gold. On the handle there is the garden where not only this whole story started from but also it was one of the first things that Midas turned to gold. The top starts as the normal garden, going down the vines and flowers all turn into gold. The button on the handle is to show his daughter also being turned to gold. Since blood has been known to show life I used that to show that her whole body was being turned into gold, the cloth piece wrapped around it is to show that she was a girl.

"A Soquili Fairy Tale" - [Once upon a time] Username: sage_the_vampirc_angel Main image: Additional Image links (optional): http://s1135.photobucket.com/albums/m626/Tai_Liln/mask 2011/Story mask is trying to tell: The Wolf who cried boy ( Twisted boy who cried Wolf) Additional info (optional): Once upon a time there was a an older wolf pup who had dark fur on all of his body but for his tail which was much lighter than his body, he was called pale tail. Pale tail was given the duty of watching the younger pups in a field at the edge of the pack's land while the others went hunting. Pale tail was not not pleased with his job, while the others got to have fun and do important things like hunting or patrol he had to watch the little pups and protect them from boys. Furless monsters that came to kill the pack members for their fur and steal the little one's tails. The monsters lived on the far side of the forest that surrounded the pack's land. In weird structures created of animal skins. And some times the monsters worked with big huge animals. They called...soquili? Other animals in the forest some times called the animals horses. Bored out of his mind Pale tail howled out the warning for boy. Watching the others scurry to the rescue Pale tail yipped with glee. This was much more fun than just watching the little ones. After admitting the truth, Pale tail took a stern lecture from his parents before going back to his duties. The next day Pale tail once again bored howled the warning for boy. And once again the watched others scurry to the rescue. This time no one but Pale tail was happy and the other pack members began to distrust Pale tail. For a week Pale tail did not howl out the warning for boy, he did not want to get into more trouble. Watching the pups he sighed softly to himself, when he saw something moving out of the forest into the field the little pups played in. A Boy and it had a weapon. BOY BOY he howled over and over again, but none of the pack members came they all thought it was another one of Pale tails games. Pale tail tried his best to protect the young pups but more boys spilled out of the forest. That day many wolves lost their lives and their fur and many more pups lost their tails including Pale tail who lost not only his life and tail but also half his fur too. As the surviving wolves collected the tail less pups one of them spied a boy standing just inside the shadows of the tree line its face was half splattered in blood the other half was covered by half of pale tail's face. The boy smiled his cheeks deep pink as he lifted Pale tail's tail and rubbed it against his cheek, for that boy knew it was always important to never play games and to always come when the warnings are called.

"A Soquili Fairy Tale" - [Once Upon a time] Username: lysia_nyteblade Main image: Additional Image links (optional): With user nameStory mask is trying to tell: This mask is telling the story of the 1001 Arabian Nights. though I'm changing some names for this telling. Once upon a time, there was a young mare named Shadiri who lived in the far deserts of the Soquili lands. She could spin tales like no other. She loved to puzzle over the old stories and read and retell them with her own spins to them. Her only other sibling, a sister named Davir, would sit for hours listening to them as would her father. One day, a young handsome yet wicked stallion of much power came through seeking a mate for his own. However.. he came from a place called the Kiawani lands and was rumored to be done with his mates on the next morning after their union ceremony in a most horrendous way. He'd put the young mares to death the morning after their union for what reason, no one knew for sure though most speculated was because he had a severe hatred for mares. As this stallion came through, the young mare caught his attention by her beauty and he came by to ask her father for a union with her. Shadiri's father was outraged and refused. As he warned Shadiri, she simply smiled and muddled over a few things before coming to a resolve. "Send me to him as his mate, I shall mend his ways or be put to death." She pleaded though her father would hear nothing of it. Unfortunately, there was nothing that could be done and reluctantly, Shadiri was sent to be the young stallion's mate. That night after their union ceremony, Shadiri feigned a sadness and wept. When the stallion asked what ailed her, shadiri replied with an answer he hadn't expected. Rather than to hear that the mare feared for her life, he heard something different. "I miss my sister dearly and wish that she could be here to sleep near by us before we should make our way to your homeland." Being that he knew the mare was making her last request, he agreed and Davir was brought to sleep near by in the den they were using for the time being. When the moon was high enough in the sky, Davir lifted her head and awoke Shadiri with a line according to Shadiri's plan. "Oh I cannot seem to sleep.. Shadiri, lull me to sleep with one of the exciting tales as only you can tell." Shadiri cunningly replied as she lifted her head. "I too cannot sleep. Perhaps a story would do us both good so long as we are not disturbing my new mate." The stallion had been unable to sleep as well for some reason he chalked up to the uneasiness of being out of his home territory and lifted his head, pleased to have something to possibly lull himself to sleep. And so, Shadiri began to weave her tales in hopes that her wits and story telling would some how prevent her from meeting the same fate that so many mares had met before her... Additional info (optional): I couldn't manage to scan the pic so i took a pic of it with my phone and uploaded it that way . Each of the little trinkets such as the scimitar and the lamp is to represent one of the stories the maiden tells to prolong her fate from coming to pass.
