Uaithne gave a sighing sound of relief as he reached the area outside of the small town that surrounded the Makai Royal Academy that he had just recently joined. It was a promise to his Gram that he would go there but it was far more crowded then he could have ever imagined or prepared himself for. He was so used to living at the edge of the quiet town of Clarus Arbor, just him and his mother, so as many people as he was now living with on a daily basis was just dizzying. At least he was done with his lessons for the day and was able to relax by doing what he found to be the most relaxing, that being going out to find himself new friends and by friends he meant plants. They were far easier to deal with, he understood them better, and he knew how he was to act around them. People on the other hand... they just confused him.

It didn't help that there were just to many of them here, to many people with to much magic, and it was making his natural hunger for that magic seem that much worse then he was used to. He was, thus far, able to keep himself in check, taking what he needed when he could to keep himself, and that hunger, in control. He couldn't help but to feel a little guilty for it though, before his mother had shared her power with him but here he was stuck stealing from others like some sort of sneak thief.

Such thoughts were completely forgotten as he scanned the area around him and he spotted a rather interesting looking plant not to terribly far away from him, "Oh, wow." He murmured to himself before he trotted over to where that plant was sitting, swaying in the wind, it's flowers rather brightly colored and eye catching, "Aren't you a pretty thing." He told the plant, kneeling down in front of it so that he could inspect it. He had some of his tools with him in his bag, a shovel, some empty pots, he could take this one back to his room to add to his collection, "Do you want to come home with me? I promise to take good care of you." He knew that the flower wouldn't really respond to him, he didn't have that sort of power, but it didn't mean that he would stop talking to them. It really was the only time that he was really talkative after all was around them. Yes, he really did like this one and wanted to bring it with him. The sweet scent of the blooms would certainly make his room more welcoming when he came back to it after class after all.

"Yes, I think that I will take you back with me. I have a place on the window sil where you will get a perfect amount of sun. I am sure the rest of my plants will welcome you as well." He told it as he pulled his bag off his shoulder and set to getting out what he needed to transfer the plant from the ground to a pot.

If only classes ended this early on a daily basis. If only... Well, Lea supposed one could always continue hoping even if the chances of that happening were as miniscule as that of the Grave of Fairies becoming a walk in the park for everyone. It was only on days such as this when students had more free time to themselves that he was able to make his weekly trip to the forested area just outside of Makai Town and indulge his snow leopard side with a run or a swim or whatever it felt like doing for the day. It wasn't that he disliked being around his classmates or teachers though. On the contrary, he felt strangely rejuvenated when he was around them, especially on the days that immediately followed practical sessions in which they were encouraged to explore different forms of magic under the guidance of their teachers. An exercise for their inner magical heart as they got to know it better as well as what they were going to be likely more adept with or so, that was what he had been told. Then there were times when his inner beast cried and demanded to be set free. To be allowed to roam the lands as its natural counterpart would do, partake in a hunt in order to be fed. It was only on such days when such an activity would be possible and he cherished them greatly.

The day had seemed just like any other day to the young mononoke as he emerged from the dirt path in his human form, cheeks slightly flushed from his recent run through the woods. He had taken his usual route today and was treated to a lovely sight of the autumn colours that the flora had taken on which would herald the coming of winter. Soon, winter school break would come and he could get to see Kei and Lulu once again.

His ears twitched at the sound of someone speaking, the voice deep, clear and most definitely masculine as it broke through the silence of the forest. Its owner speaking to someone... or something. Lea started towards the direction of the voice, curious emeralds having little difficulty in spotting the all too familiar Makai academy uniform that belonged to the student in question. So he had been talking to the plants after all. He hazarded a guess with the boy's latest words. Interesting... It made him wonder if the green-haired boy was one of those... plant whisperers? "... do they ever talk back to you..?" He really hoped that he hadn't startled the boy too much, coming up from his side and then speaking out of the blue like that. He was just really curious about his ability that was all.

Uaithne gave a gasp of surprise as a voice called out to him, one that he was expecting since he wasn't paying attention to his surroundings in the least bit, nor had he been expecting company since he rarely ran into others out here given the size of the forest. One hand lifting up to his chest, resting over his racing heart, as he turned to look over at Lea before he gave a sighing sound of relief when he saw the witchling that was there standing there, "Huh? Oh... no, they don't... talk... back..." He said, his words starting to trailing off as he really looked at the other you then blurted out, "You have cat ears." He said, couldn't recall having ever seen a mononoke so close up before, it was a rather amazing sight to behold.

Blinking as he realized what he'd just said he cheeks went a dark shade of red and he lifted a hand to cover his mouth, "Ahhh... s-sorry..." Wow, that had been a horrible slip of the tongue and likely one that would seem more then a little rude. Turning his attention back to the plant in front of him Uaithne found himself for a moment wishing that his magic would allow for him to vanished from sight.

Given that power didn't seem to be manifesting out of no where he instead turned to look back over to the other witchling again and gave him the best smile he could muster, "Sorry about that, I've never seen a mononoke so close before." He said, hoping that the guy wouldn't just turn around and leave after he'd blurted out such a thing... as though the guy wasn't away of his own ears.

With the number of mononokes that he had spotted among the witchlings at the academy, Lea would expect that most of the students had gotten used to seeing his kind around by now. It was almost as if there was a bumper crop of mononokes among his peers now that he thought of it, but whether it be a random occurrence or a heralding of something much more was really up to anyone's guess.

A person who happened to have an affinity for the flora... huh? He blinked slowly, greyish-white ears flicking more out of habit than anything as his mind processed Uaithne's words. And here he was thinking for a moment that he had possibly found someone whose magic mirrored Cedar's. A pity that it was but that conversely made the beautiful brown-haired witch even more unique in his eyes. Not that he needed any more reasons to enjoy her company and spend more time with her already.

He gave the other witchling a small smile at the apology, his head shaking a few times as he held his gaze for a few seconds before stretching out his hand to gingerly touch a flower petal. "It's alright. We aren't really that much different from you in the first place you know." A pause in between as he took a deep breath and then withdrew his hand to promptly offer it to Uaithne. "Lea Snowdrop. I apologize... for startling you in the first place. Your speaking to the plants reminded me of a very close... friend of mine."

Watching quietly as the cat mononoke reached out to touch the plant that Uaithne was planning to take home with him he couldn't help but to worry for a moment... then relaxed when it appeared as though he had a rather light touch, he wouldn't hurt the flower it would appear, even by accident. He turned to look at the cat boy as he spoke and gave a smile when he was told that the mononoke weren't really that much different from him. He wondered how true those words might be, from what he'd gathered mononoke were a human only thing, excluding the Majin from gaining such power. As such saying they weren't that different from each other was a touch misleading but it wasn't as though Lea could know, it wasn't as though he wore a sign around his neck reading 'Majin' or anything.

When the hand was held out to him he took it for a shake, glad that he had the opportunity to make friends with this young man despite his terrible opening words, "It's good to meet you Lea, I am Uaithne Cahal." He introduced himself in return before his attention went back to the plant, studying it closely as the cat boy spoke of how his talking to plants was something that reminded him of his close friend, "Really? Heh, I am glad to hear that I am not the only one that talks to plants in their spare time." He said, knowing that there were those that thought him more then a little odd for talking to plants, especially when he couldn't hear them talk back, but he was use to their silence. Ever since he was little he'd taken care of them, using his own voice to fill the silence having always found it easier to talk with plants then he did other people. He was going to try his best here though, liking the idea of being able to count a mononoke among his friends.

"What about you? Are you as interested in plants as your friend and myself? Or do your interests lay elsewhere?" He was curious about the magic the cat boy might have, wondering if mononoke were better at magic then an average humans might be.
