Acanthus had lost track of time. How long had he been out here in the kalona territory with Fathom? A few days? Maybe two or three weeks? He wouldn't be surprised if it had even been a few months. The draft stallion had wandered away from home and come across a strong -both in mind and character- mare that he almost instantly fell for. Being young, this all looked like a good idea to him, as he did not suspect any sort of ulterior motives of the mare. Regardless, they met, and he made the bold move of asking to come home with her. Why not?

Now he found himself in her family's territories, being trained and manipulated for the furthering of their family. But he didn't see that either. He saw a family that was willing to accept him into their midst -though some more willingly than others- and help him grow stronger. He was slowly learning how true kalonas hunt, and it was becoming more apparent to him how vicious one must be to take down large prey. And it was these details that he was particularly paying attention to, as he had an idea forming in his head that would involve something similar.

Acanthus lifted his eyes to the sky to find it still rumbling and groaning, though considerably quieter than yesterday. It seemed like this storm was finally winding down and coming to an end. There had been several storms in the area over the last little while, so seeing a dark and cloudy sky did not surprise him. Though if he were to think about it, he did find it strange how long a storm could stick around for. Tail flicking back and forth, he was lost in thought as the winds buffeted him were he stood strong and tall.

She had been surprised by how easily Acanthus had taken to leaving his own territory to stay with her. It wasn't exactly what she had planned, but it made her job even easier as she would have full time access to the stallion. She had found herself getting more and more brash with him though, it was hard to continue to speak in a sickening sweet tone, her true colors had started to show.

After the weeks of training, she was proud of her capture. The stallion had good genes for fighting and the hunt... a little unorthodox, but he was still learning. She shook her head as she thought about the skills that had been laid to waste inside this male.

She had found herself quite pleased with the progress, she just wasn't sure how much longer she would be able to play her role as sweet and caring Fathom. She shook her maneless head and stretched out her wings. Time to check on her toy.

His ears began to twitch somewhat rhythmically to an unheard beat as he stood staring into the grey sky. His thoughts were still running a muck, he was trying to iron out some of the details of his forming plan. He had been waiting for a good time to bring up the subject with Fathom, and as of yet had not been presented the right opportunity. How could he ask her to help him do such a great task? He was hoping to bring it up soon, maybe today even! But he'd have to see. Afterall, he wouldn't want to put her in any sort of awkward situation... truthfully, it would probably be him that would become awkward... Shaking his head, he began taking a few deep breaths to calm himself. No need to get worked up over something that hasn't happened yet.

Sounds behind him caught Acanthus' attention, causing him to turn around to find out just what it was. It could be any number of kalonas, but he was really hoping it would be the one he was here for: Fathom. Her speckled blue coat and her strong, lean build along with those glowing red eyes just tied her altogether into a single package of beauty, if one were to ask this love-stricken stallion. He would do just about anything for this mare, even if as of late she had been a little snappy with him. He just figured it would pass.

Fathom broke through the bushes that nearly covered the path, Acanthus was not far in the distance. She did her best to put on a sickening sweet smile as she approached him.

"There you are, Acanthus!" she nuzzled his cheek lightly, careful not to catch his hide with one of her many prickly spikes. "It seems as though you've been avoiding me lately," she attempted to come off in a playful manner as though giving him a hard time. "You've not been hiding from me, have you?" she nibbled on his mane gently.

There was that fanged smile! His own muzzle turning upwards in the widest of silly grins as his eyes wandered over the blue mare that he had so hoped to come across. Accepting the nuzzle with a somewhat soft nuzzle of his own, Acanthus' eyes slid closed for a moment and his tail stilled: all was right.

Opening his eyes back up, Acanthus readjusted his wings, something of a nervous twitch perhaps, as she poked at him verbally. Avoiding her? Not exaaaactly... Well... ok, he really couldn't lie to her.

"Not exactly, my love," he had taken to being sweet at times, when others were not around, but had learned well enough to have a tight leash on it, or else incur a sudden outburst of anger. "I... I've something to ask you, Fathom. I wasn't sure how to ask." They had been together for some time now, but as of late he had been truthfully a little skittish around Fathom, because of his mind being in turmoil over how he would complete his goal. It felt like a giant weight was pressing down on him, but perhaps now that the opportunity had presented itself he would be able to lift it and go back to himself, back to the strong stallion that Fathom had brought here and helped train. Afterall, this confused mess was not what Acanthus was like most of the time, no hunter would survive like this, so he would have to dispel this behaviour, and talking out his thoughts and plans would help him do so.
