Setting : The Grand Old Abandoned Battle Arena and Training Ground, hidden within the forest and mountains; Present day
Landmarks : A rather large field, used for combat and training, sits in the dead center of the area. North of this field is a clear pool of water crowned with a waterfall cascading from the mountains, which is an ideal place to bathe and swim in. A hidden cave is tucked behind some stones next to the waterfall and inside this cave, clusters of crystals of many colors can be found as well as an abandoned tomb that was once used for meditation, rituals, worship, and the practicing of magic.
Located on the east of the field are a cluster of huts that each houses a certain facility. In order from left to right, there is a weaponry, armory, healing station, item crafting hut, library, mess hall, and two dressing rooms that are reserved for each gender. They were arranged in a curved-shape line and facing the field not only for easier access for warriors and mages on the field, but also because of the possibility of an ambush would be decreased thanks to a barrier that protects the land. However, since the barrier literally circles around the place, the huts would have to be placed in this fashion to avoid overcrowding.
South of the field is a rather large stone building that used to be a fortress for the royalty and their army of knights and mages. Nowadays, it has become a housing station for those who regularly do their training here. At west, there is an open area that has been used for farming livestock and vegetation. There appears to be nothing left of the farm save for a few fruit-bearing trees and some shrubbery.
A thick forest surrounds the barrier of the arena and training field. The barrier itself was created by powerful mages to keep intruders away. To get to the battle arena/training field normally, one must enter the fortress itself, which hasn’t had their doors closed since was abandoned a long time ago.
History : Long before humanoid creatures have taken over the realm, humans have always been constantly quarrelling and fighting for various reasons. War has been around since their time and much bloodshed has been caused by either pity differences or some demand of resources. Of course, many nations have found ways to perfect their army of warriors as they see fit and this particular kingdom is no exception.
According to the mythology, a brutal king and his wife have formed an army that no other could surpass. There were mages, knights, and many other sorts of warriors. The unfortunate part about their plan to rule the world was that the queen rejected her husband for a kinder, stronger man with a gentler heart. Enraged, a bloody feud sparked between the two men and it was over when the bell struck once. It was when the future of all humanity of the realm was lost thanks to the queen’s fatal sacrifice. She had summoned an almighty dragon to wipe out the entire human race once and for all to end the bloody war.
An age later, the first anthropomorphic creatures have risen in this realm and eventually evolved into today’s humanoid “furries”. Now, proof of humanity’s presence lies across many parts of the realm, such as this fortress and training ground that had been reused as a place where many furries have come to test their skills and develop their prowess.
Other Information : Since it has been abandoned, nothing has changed very much thanks to the magical barrier protecting the training grounds. The equipment has been outdated and there is no advanced technology around here. Of course, it is a rather good thing that everything in this area is rather spacious because it was meant to hold every last warrior. Targets and training dummies were hand-made and there are plenty of resources at hand to make them. Although food can naturally be found on fruit-bearing trees and shrubs, hunting for wild game is necessary for carnivores and omnivores to get their meat fix. Also, it is a good idea to grow and raise crops since not everyone can live on fruit or meat alone. Finally, packing some bags for overnight stays is a recommendation due to the fact that there may not be very many beds to sleep in.
