Rolling to see who will go first

1 Sailor Pomona
2 Sailor Ganymede

Feel free to rp as usual randomizing betweeen 1 and 3 for each post, or to pre roll the results and go back and fill the posts in after the fact.

Rolling reference for ease
* For every post in a battle thread make sure you randomize between 1 and 3. The number you get will determine what happened during that turn.
1 - Uh oh, looks like you missed this time!
2 - Yay a hit! Your opponent should subtract 1 hp in their next post.
3 - Excellent hit! Your opponent should subtract 2 hp in their next post.

* Keep track of your HP on the top of each post you make please! When someone reaches zero the battle is over. (You can post once or twice more if you'd really like the two to wish each other well or what not)
If the dice decide to be jerks and the battle just keeps going on and on and on I may step in and ask for you guys to roll dice for some outside event to help out. Hopefully it won't be necessary

Ganymede HP: 6
Damage Done: 1

That damned Senshi of Peppers.

It figured that after everything that had happened since he’d become what he was now, the fates would conspire to have them battle first in this little tournament, he the once hapless civilian, and she the first senshi he’d ever exchanged words with nearly a year ago on that cold, hectic Christmas Eve night at Town Square.

She wouldn’t recognize him, of course, but he definitely recognized her. Her outfit had changed, it seemed, but that night was so ingrained in his memory, he doubted he’d soon forget her face.

“Well, this is amusing,” he commented, not sure if he should be rolling his eyes or smiling at the irony of it all. Any other time he may have done the former. Recently, however, he’d been making a good effort at his new approach of thinking positive, and so for the time being he settled on the latter. “Sailor Ganymede,” he introduced himself, taking the last few inactive moments to let his eyes scan her from top to bottom and size her up, attempting to formulate a plan of attack based on where she’d placed her ornaments.

Then he decided plans never worked out the way he wanted them to anyway, so he might as well wing it. He was only doing this for fun anyway, because you could only take so many youma battles and Negaverse encounters before a change of pace became necessary.

He’d placed his own ornaments in spots where their breaking would lead to the least amount of contact with bare skin—the first was hanging by his right hip, the second from his left boot.

“We haven’t really had the pleasure of speaking to one another like this, but we probably shouldn’t be wasting too much time. I suppose we should just get down to it,” he said.

Ganymede locked his eyes on one of her ornaments and swiftly shifted close enough to attempt a gentler-than-usual kick, merely wishing to land a blow to the ornament and not accidentally cause real physical damage. This was supposed to be fun, so he was going to play by the rules. He wasn’t that big of a fan of violence anyway.

His smile widened into a grin when his foot made contact, and he took a step back to figure out which direction he wanted to come in at next.

It would please him greatly if he could knock her out of the tournament -- subtle revenge for the brief attitude exchange they'd partaken in last December.

When the text had originally gone out advertising this competition, Pomona had eagerly signed up. She hadn't signed up for the glory though, or the prize, but simply in an attempt to keep herself current. Participating in Polaris' previous event - the youma-hunting contest - had been proof to Pomona that she needed to be more active.

Then yestarday had happened. The Leto Incident. Pomona hd pulled herself together fairly well, but she still wasn't entirely back on her game yet. Her mind felt... slow. Cotton-y. The confusion she felt when the other Senshi seemed to recognize her didn't seem to help.

" Sailor Pomona. I- I'm sorry, but have we met?" Pomona's eyebrows furrowed. " I'm afraid I don't remember you."

Then the girl - was the other Senshi a girl? Pomona wasn't sure - the other girl suggested they not waste time talking, and Pomona supposed that made sense. They were supposed to be fighting after all, and real fights didn't always allow for talking, but this wasn't a real fight, and-

And the girl - boy? - Ganymede had kicked at her while she had been lost in her head, a hit to her thigh. It was enough to make her sway, and to pull her to the present. She had tied one of her ornaments to the front of her left hip, the other to her collar on the right side of her chest, spots she had thought would be easy to defend. And maybe they would be if she paid attention.

Trying to regain her composure and reorient herself, Pomona made a half-hearted swipe for the ornament on Ganymede's hip.

“We may have met before under different circumstances,” Ganymede replied. Gracefully, he spun out of the way as she made a grab for one of his ornaments, coming to a stop on her left side and striking out toward her left hip. He smirked when he got another hit in, but did no more to gloat than that.

“You wouldn’t remember me,” he assured her, “considering I didn’t look like this then. I was missing the get up. But that’s okay. It was a while ago.”

He could sense that she was a little off—ill-composed, perhaps; disoriented, maybe? He didn’t know if it was because his choice of conversation was throwing her off or if she had something else on her mind, but whatever it was seemed to be working.

For now.

He knew he shouldn’t get cocky about it. The minute he did, the tables could easily turn. They were both at the same level power-wise. Theoretically, they should be pretty evenly matched. Whether she seemed a bit out of it or not, he wasn’t about to underestimate her.

While it wasn’t a huge priority, he sure as hell wouldn’t mind ending this with a win.

Rubbish. She had missed. Worse yet, Ganymede had not only gotten a hit in, but had already busted one of her ornaments. So much for her grand strategy.

“ Hopefully I didn’t do anything stupid; I’m good at that.” Pomona had met her fair share of civilians, but she suspected even those she had rescued were not left with a particularly impressive impression of her. God, she hoped he/she wasn’t one of the civilians she had spaz-attack in front of.

Speaking of spasticness, it certainly did not seem to be a condition Ganymede shared. The other Senshi was more proficient at close combat then her. That neat little twirly-thing he/she had done seemingly with ease was something Pomona could have never pulled off without twisting an ankle. Pomona briefly – very briefly – toyed with the idea of using her attack, but shoved it aside, instead aiming a light kick at the ornament tied to Ganymede’s boot.

Ganymede deftly moved his leg out of the way to avoid Pomona's kick. He was actually sort of surprised that he'd managed to do so well so far. He wasn't a fighter. He did what was necessary when youma turned up and utilized whatever he could when his magic proved useless. Dance had made him quick and nimble, graceful, agile, and could probably be attributed to his ability to dodge and move around swiftly. If it ever came to a battle of physical strength, he'd probably have a few issues, even with the added boost this form gave him.

"Whether you were stupid or not is probably debatable," he told her with a cheeky smile, "but you weren't particularly nice or helpful, as I remember. Although, I'm beginning to wonder if I might have judged you too harshly too quickly. We all have our off days, I guess, and you sure aren't as mouthy now as you were then."

He watched her curiously, moving in to get another swipe at her second ornament, though he was unable to break it quite yet. He didn't know if he was proud of himself for fighting so well so far or not. This wasn't proving to be an especially difficult fight, but then it wasn't like there were any youma or Negas around to cause trouble, and neither of them were aiming to hurt the other, so at least in that respect it was bound to be less stressful.

"It was about a year ago," Ganymede finally decided to take pity on her instead of continuing to be purposefully elusive. Even if she remembered what he'd looked like back then, she wouldn't know his name, so he figured it was safe enough to reveal. "The ice-princess-monster-thing. I might have been frustrated and mouthing off, and you might have said something back. That was about the extent of it."

Pomona really wished she could say that she was surprised at how poorly she was doing, but she wasn't. Not really. Her fighting style - if you wanted to call it that - was to throw things at her target, either her peppers or whatever debris was handy. It was hard to hit an ornament with a rock, which left her relying on her rather sad close combat skills.

" Mouthy? If I was mouthy to you, you're handling it better then I would if our positions were reversed."

When Ganymede made his next move, Pomona was able to jerk back at the last second, sparing her remaining ornament from being broken.

" Ah. Yes, I'm afraid something about psycho ice aliens sets off my 'Mouthy-redhead' syndrome. Negas do it too." A pause as she thought about this statement, then added, " It's my way of acting like a puffed up cat. "

Yes, she felt better talking when fighting. Yes, sometimes her emtions bled into that chatter. Yes, it sounded kinda pathetic to her when she said it out loud. To distract from that statement, Pomona decided to try a sort of half-whirly-kick. It didn't involve a full spin, and she'd done similar stuff before in the heat of battle, so why not now?

When Pomona's foot caught on her own heel, she figured that was a sign: a sign of her impending loss. Trying to keep her balance and still tap Ganymede's ornament, Pomona ended up looking like a drunk flamingo attempting kung fu.

He tried his best not to, because it would be rather rude of him when she was obviously having some coordination issues, but he couldn't help but laugh. It wasn't malicious sounding, and he was much more amused by the sight that she made than he was by the fact that all of her efforts were getting her nowhere, though that probably wouldn't be any more reassuring to her. At least she was trying. He'd give her that. He'd already broken one ornament and nearly had the other, but she wasn't giving up even while she stumbled around.

"I've had a while to get over it," he said, waving one of his hands in a decidedly nonchalant manner. "I can get feisty too, so it's not like I don't understand. Tense situations and all that. I've mouthed off to plenty of people and got told off for it, so it's not just you."

He shifted around a bit to try and remain out of her reach, though he began to wonder if she'd even be able to hit him if he stood completely still. "I was a little wary when I saw you here, but... no offense, but when you flail around like that, it's not exactly intimidating. To be honest, it's a bit like watching a duck try to act like a swan."

He demonstrated a simple ballet move, arm up, feet positioned properly, nice and graceful, holding the pose for a few seconds before elegantly shifting into something else. "You wanna stay loose. Stick with movements you're comfortable with before working in anything different. It can be a bit harder if you've got a lot on your mind, I've noticed, so try to clear your head. I like to focus on something in battle, usually a song, something I can sort of fall into a rhythm to."

Ganymede had no idea of his comments were even appreciated. She'd been around longer than he had. She could have a slew of other more competent people helping her than him. Normally he wasn't comfortable instructing other people, even those who might be less experienced than him. He didn't feel as if he knew enough. Dance he knew, though. Movement and rhythm were his safe places.

In demonstrating another move, he went for her second ornament again and heard it make a satisfying crunch.

And there went her other ornament.

' Really? Really.' She thought in disgust to herself. ' So stupid, I didn't even land a single hit!'

It was pretty embarassing. From the sounds of it, she'd been a Senshi longer then her opponent, but she hadn't managed to hit him once!

" It would seem that I fight better when I don't think then when I do." She sighed, straightening up in an attempt to regain some of her dignity. Realizing that that was a lost cause, she shrugged and grinned, " Don't know about the flailing though. I think that's a medical condition of mine; an extra leg or two left feet or something."

She didn't say that she had hoped that being good at DDR would translate to awesome whirly-kick things in battle, because quite obviously it didn't.

" I'll have to try thinking of a song next time. And I'll have to get diagnosis for my flailing." She stuck out a hand to shake. " I'd say it was a good match, but I kinda sucked, so I'll say you were a good opponent and that I wish you luck."

Ganymede dropped out of his fighting pose once the battle was over, his smile growing a bit wider as he realized that he was moving onto the other round. He wondered if that meant he didn’t suck after all, or if he’d just gotten really lucky. Maybe Pomona just hadn’t been on her game tonight? Who knew. Regardless, he’d take what he got and continue on, see how far he could take this thing before getting knocked out. He was sure his success couldn’t last for very long. There were plenty of other people here who were probably better fighters than he was.

“You weren’t too bad,” he told the other super senshi, reaching out to take the hand she was offering to him. “I won, so I don’t really have any complaints.”

Not that his hopes and dreams would have been dashed if he’d lost. This was just supposed to be fun, something to do for entertainment and not an actual show of their true power and strength. If it had been a real battle, he doubted he would have done as well. Mock fights with glass ornaments he could do; anything more intense than that was likely to turn him off, especially now when he was even more wary about hurting himself than usual.

“Thanks,” he said, pulling his hand away when they were done shaking. “Maybe I’ll see you around. You’re not so bad, after all.”

It made him wonder if he might have judged a little too fast with other people, too—he didn’t tense moments in the midst of calamity weren’t really the best times to make an appropriate opinion of someone—but now wasn’t really the time to be worrying about that.

He had another fight to prepare for.
