Another cold night. Another lonely night.
The lithe canine sat on the outskirts of her home-pack lands. A glance was tossed over her shoulder, looking back towards it. She could see the moon's reflection off the stones that once made up their great pride now it lay in a heap of rubble. It was almost enough to make her stomach sick. Alnilam turned her head away, still ashamed of how their folly and their unwillingness to head a seer's visions had caused the downfall and deaths of so many.
Reluctantly she stood and padded off into the night. Perhaps visiting with the stars and the bright sky would help ease the heaviness in her heart. As darkened purple eyes rose to the starry night sky, they fell closed as the wild dog's ears turned, listening to the wind as it whistled passed her. Maybe the solitude wasn't so bad after-all.

Night was when it got dark, chill, and barren. It was too distasteful to the male canine's liking. That was why he walked in the day, and tried to sleep immediately as soon as the moon came up - for without the sun, what is there to keep him going?..
Yet, he had no shelter - at least, not at the present moment. A set of small hares he had been tracking down earlier for the entire day had led him away from the rows of dens by the cliffs he had made a temporary home of, and he found himself turning his head to peek at both ends of the horizon before him. He grunted, unsatisfied that he should sleep outside tonight... This particular night was too cold.
As he walked through the thinning grasses, he saw a rather ghostly reflection in the distance. He had to take a second look to gather that it was not in fact a specter, but another wild dog. She was... unusually purple, and she seemed to be in some contemplation. She definitely was not aware enough to notice him - otherwise she might have scented him or seen his movement from this close enough distance.
He couldn't deny it; he was curious. He began to walk towards her, his transitioning goldenrod body weaving through the grass, and otherworldly, opalescent eyes focused on the female. And then he spoke.
"Hello, miss. There is something troubling you?"

Her head turned sharply at the sudden voice that come from behind her. That had been something she had not been expecting to hear on this night, especially belonging to a canine she had never seen before. Alnilam stood, turning her body to face him fully instead of just her dark gaze. "I suppose you could say something of the sort is indeed bothering me, stranger."
He was definitely a curious looking male. A little different then the colors she was was used to, but still holding himself well enough. The lady put herself back down onto her rump, sitting a good distance away from his person. "I don't believe you've introduced yourself yet, stranger."
