Hobbies:
Gardening: Merigold loves to garden and take care of plants. It relaxes her to plant seeds, water flowers, or trim off a dead leaf. She also loves to see the beautiful flowers and have their relaxing scent around her. She is an active participant in her school's gardening club and visits the local gardening store so often that all the clerks and managers know her by name.
Crocheting: When Meri isn’t actively planting, watering, or trimming her plants, she likes to crochet. Mostly she makes flowers, but she also makes clothes, bags, and stuffed animals. She sometimes likes to combine her two hobbies by making covers for all the pots her plants sit in. While she does this almost any time she isn’t tending her plants, it takes her a long time to make anything because of how easily distracted she is.
She often writes a blog about her crocheting. She posts what she is currently working on, the supplies she is using -colors, size yarn, size hook-, and how far she got that day. She also posts simple instructions on how to replicate her pattern. When she is finished with the project she will post a picture, and what she will be doing with the item. Sometimes she keeps them, but many times she sends them to the Salvation Army.
Feeding the homeless: Merigold spends her weekends at the local soup kitchen serving food to the homeless. On her breaks she hangs out with the people who go there and socializes. Some of her best friends are homeless people she chats with on weekend afternoons. She also does other volunteer work at the soup kitchen any time work pops up.
Making kites: Merigold's only memory of her mother is a day at the beach when she was 3. Her mother was running along the shore with a bright yellow kite in her hands. She finally let go and the kite rising through the air was the most amazing thing little Meri had ever seen. Three weeks later, Merigold's mother was hit by a car while on her morning bike ride and died 2 hours later in the hospital. When she was 10 she finally asked her father about her mother's kite and was told that kite making had been her mother's hobby. Since then, Merigold has consistenlty tried to make her own kites, but always fails because she refuses help because she only wants her mother's help which can't be given.
Virtues:
Determined: Meri is a very determined person. It can sometimes take her a long time to do something, but she keeps trying until it is done even if it isn't done well. Giving up is never an answer to her mostly because she doesn’t want to be seen as a failure.
This fear started in her when she was 7. Her father made her take ballet classes in an effort to teach her to be more graceful. Merigold was so bad at it that the other children laughed at her and made fun of her every time she would trip or stumble. After 3 classes of this, Meri locked herself in her room and refused to go to class. In a fit of anger that he later regretted, Merigold's father called her a quiter and told her that quiters never get anywhere in life. As a small child she took those words very seriously and promised herself she would never quit anything again. Occasionally some things are just impossible to do for a 14 year old girl. To avoid needing to quit, Meri tries to pick her activities carefully. When she does fail at something, she often shuts down and becomes very depressed. She tends to cope by throwing herself into a project she knows she can succeed at.
Joyful: Merigold is a happy and playful person. She laughs at every joke and always finds the bright side of a bad situation. She doesn’t like it when people around her are upset so she often acts even happier in an attempt to ‘lighten the mood’ or have her good mood spread to others.
Loyal: Merigold is very loyal and dedicated to people she is close to such as best friends or a leader she knows well. She will protect and agree with those few people blindly because she truly believes that they know best and that she owes them her loyalty for some reason.
Flaws:
Inattentive : Meri is very careless. She is so distracted by her own thoughts that she will often forget to put her name on her homework or forget her homework altogether. At least once a week Merigold forgets to tie her shoelaces and trips. She also falls over and knocks things over very often.
Because of her inattentiveness she also doesn't always notice what’s going on around her. She often stares off into space at the most inopportune times and is easy to sneak up on because of it. She misses important information in class and her friends sometimes feel like she doesn’t listen to them which can make it hard for Merigold to make a friendship last.
Gullible: Merigold will believe almost anything mostly out of a lack of self confidence she has had all her life. She, however, is not stupid and will realize a person is probably lying to her if they trick her often enough. She catches on even quicker if the facts from a person always seem far-fetched. When she is tricked it can be from something simple like "Look! Jonny Depp!" to something more complicated like believing an email about an African man needing money to visit his long lost brother in America. She will not believe you if you tell her there is a flying pig behind her, though she will look for the pig that she thinks your lie must have come from.
Soft-hearted: Merigold will always melt at the site of children and cute animals. She also hates to see anyone hurt or upset. This often causes her to keep her opinions to herself if she thinks they might upset the person the opinion is about. Her sof heart also causes her to be unhappy and uncomfortable when someone else is hurting a person either physically or emotionally. She is not a fighter and so won't help a person being bullied physically -she will find an adult instead- but she will try and mediate a verbal conflict with the goal that everyone goes home happy and feeling good. This, however, is very hard to do as someone always end up being in the wrong in an argument. Her meddling can bother a lot of the people she interacts with and Meri knows it, she just can't seem to stop herself or keep from feeling terrible if she knows someone is upset or hurt.
Hydraphobic (not an actual flaw): Meri is severly afraid of water. When she was 5 she watched a horror movie where a character got into a boat to fish on a lake and a giant alligator attacked him and killed him. Since then, her phobia has slowly worsened as untreated phobias tend to do. She cannot takea shower and a bath is completely out of the question. She has to take sponge baths to wash. She doesn't leave the house when it is raining, she doesn't go near lakes, rivers, pools, or oceans. If, for some reason, she finds herself near a large amount of water, her survival instincts immediately kick in. There is no 'fight' to her 'fight or flight' response. She finds the fastest way to get as far as possible from the water and the idea of going back terrifies her. She will often wake up in the middle of the night crying from a nightmare about drowning.
She hides her fear from her father by saying that she doesn't like swimming or boats. When it's rainy, she uses homework or chrocheting as an excuse to stay inside. Her father thinks the behavior is strange, but dissmisses it as a teenage quirk. This is an easy thing for Meri to hide from her father because he is so aloof and distant.

Attacks:
Sailor Scout Attack: Hedera Poison Touch!
Sailor Hedera touches her opponent directly on exposed skin and causes an itchy rash to appear on that spot. The initial rash looks very bad and itches intensely for 30 seconds, but can be ignored with effort. The rash goes away when the itch stops. Sailor Hedera can use this power two times per battle (it only counts as being used if the power hits a person or animal), but only 4 times in a 24 hour period.
Super Sailor Scout Attack: Hedera Poison Vortex!
Hedera summons a swirl of poison ivy leaves and sends them flying at a single target. This power does the same thing as Hedera Poison Touch!, but Sailor Hedera doesn't need to be in arms reach of the target because of the leaves. The leaves must make direct contact with exposed skin and the rash and itch still only last for 30 seconds. This power can be used two times per battle, and can only be used two times in a 24 hour period. Hedera Poison Vortex! has a range of 30 ft from where Sailor Hedera is standing. The leaves seem to appear around her and spread outward. The easiest way to avoid this power is to be out of range. The farther from Sailor Hedera the target is, the easier it is to dodge. For example: a person 2 feet in front of Sailor Hedera may find it nearly impossible to dodge the leaves, but a person 20 feet away will find it much easier while still having a chance of being hit.
Eternal Sailor Attack: Hedera Ivy Grasp!
Sailor Hedera throws a poison ivy seed at the ground near a target and vines will grow from the ground and bind the legs of the target for 15 seconds. While the legs of the target are bound, they cannot move their legs at all and are unnable to escape. The vines are fairly weak, but they seem to have a life of their own as they grow to find every possible area of exposed skin on a person. As they grow to find skin, they do not bind areas other than the legs. They cause an itchy rash on any exposed skin they touch. The itchy rash only lasts 15 seconds after the target escapes the vines (which takes 15 seconds). This power can only be used once per battle and only twice in a 24 hour period.
