 Reiko snickered with unholy glee as she disappeared back into the undergrowth. Out smarting the humans was easy, though they tended to get rather putout when they were stolen from. Tossing the bag filled with jewels in the air, she caught it again and tucked it into her belt. She’d gotten a particularly large jewel that she was planning to give to her father, Hiei, a rather large, clear diamond and her other father, Yoko, a pretty golden necklace.
Trotting further into the forest and not really caring about stealth at the moment. Weaving expertly through the trees, she followed the sound of a stream. Dipping her head, she drank deeply before stretching out each muscle, loosening the tension.

 Narcissus, or Nars, as he was often called by his friend Zotikos, looked around with dull interest. Autumn already, Dysis' favorite time of the year. He hadn't seen the girls in awhile; they were as unseparable in their way as he and Zotikos were, and he was sure Roxanne gave Dysis just as many headaches as Zo gave him.
A flash of movement caught his eye. Dysis? Nars shook his head, looking closer. No, just a female Daeva. He felt a moment of disappointment, then the smallest of stirrings of curiousity. He'd thought he'd been in a fairly secluded place...
He stood still against the trees, the gentle burble of the stream in the background, torn between inching closer for a better look and leaving now so as not to get involved with someone he had no business with.

Halfway through stretching her left wing, a sudden change in the wind caused Reiko to freeze. It seemed like she wasn’t quite as alone as she thought. Another Deava from the scent, and a male at that. A few moments later, Reiko completed her stretch leisurely; the male had had the drop on her and done nothing, he probably wasn’t going to do anything now that she was alerted to his presence. Giving one last full body shake, Reiko began searching the other out.
There against the trees, the blue and silver standing out against dull brown was the Deava she’d sensed. Mildly disappointed in herself for not seeing him earlier and potentially getting herself in trouble, Reiko’s muzzle twisted in a wry smirk aimed more at herself than the other.
Keeping eye contact with the male, Reiko lowered herself into a sitting position. “Is this the part where I apologize for wandering onto your territory?” She asked, tone conveying she had little intention to actually do that.

Nars didn't show any outward reactions, though a "mental eyebrow" quirked upward at the saucy comment. Well it did make a weird sort of sense. He'd caught the female by surprise and he wasn't really a master of disguise. She was probably feeling a bit of embarassed chargrin at herself, in which case saucy was the most natural and likely response she'd put out.
Well, just cause it made sense didn't mean he had to like it.
"It is not my territory," Nars said neutrally, keeping the rest of his thoughts locked behind the bland tone and blank expression.

“Good. Cause I don’t apologize.” Reiko replied easily. She looked the male over again and especially noted the closed, neutral expression on his face. She knew that look. Daddy Yoko used that look a lot. That look meant anything from ‘this is an unfamiliar situation, I’m keeping my thoughts to myself’ to ‘I’m plotting your death and I don’t want you to know’. Daddy Yoko could be scary sometimes.
She wondered if she should let the silence stretch until one of them broke, but she knew she would lose that battle. She was just as impatient as her Deava father. “So if it aint your territory, why are you here? Taking peeks at the humans?” She asked, tossing her head in the direction she’d come.

Nars looked in the direction that the female had indicated, though it wasn't strictly necessary. As a deep forest fox it was easy to tell when one was approaching humans; the creatures stank, their populations creating such a stench that he could smell them a mile off. More, if he was downwind.
He had been planning to wander close, but more to get an idea of where the borders were on this section that to look at humans. Those annoyances were everywhere, he didn't have to sneak through forests to get a look at them. Stupid things had such poor eyesight anyway that he could fly right over their territories and they couldn't tell him apart from the sky.
Nars looked back at the female and narrowed his grey-blue eyes, a movement that either meant he found something interesteding and was giving it his attention, or he was irritated. "None of your business," he replied, voice still toneless. Irritated, then. He didn't care for the female's attitude.

Reiko felt her hackles rising, the fur on her back brushing uncomfortably against her clothes. She didn't like others having attitude problems; the fact that she had started it naturally didn't matter. Why was she going to continue talking to this fox? She was bored. Stealing from the humans was distracting and all, but it was ridiculously easy.
Besides, all she had to go home to were her parents, who would probably be off stealing their own stuff, argueing, or making up (not something she wanted to be around for) and her whiny-a** sister. Man, if she had to hear Hetari moan about her appearance one...more...time....
Flashing a falsely friendly smile at the male, Reiko shifted her weight slightly. "You're right, it isn't. Curiousity, however is a failing of mine...among other things."

Nars' eyes remained narrowed. He didn't trust that smile, whatever intentions lay behind it. He couldn't really think of anything that the female would want to do with him though. Wasn't like he had something to steal or he was trespassing on her territory.
She might have just been looking for a fight. Physical or verbal would be equal amounts of annoying, though he was sure he could hold his own in a physical fight and it was easy to kill verbal ones by just not saying anything. Still, if she was determined it would make all of this that much harder...
"That's your problem then, isn't it," Nars shot back, hoping hostility would drive her off.

"Usually, but I can make it your problem too. It really is just easier to indulge me." She said, opening her eyes wide in innocence. Reiko was trying really hard not to break down into laughter. Two could play the attitude game and his tone was a little less neutral that time and she was back in a good mood.
Reiko's tail twitched slightly, this deava was amusing. Of course she had a twisted sense of humor. Besides, it was his fault. If he had simply answered her questions, she probably would have gotten bored and left.

Nars frowned. Something about what the female said reminded her of Zotikos, but though the Phim was annoying persistant he'd never been prying. When Nars refused to answer a question Zo just shrugged and went on being disgustingly cheerful and positively optimistic.
Since he was pretty sure more commentary would just be enabling this annoying female, Nars decided to simply turn around and walk away, back into deeper forest. She had that heavy bag with her, even if she followed she probably wouldn't for long. He just had to be patient, outlast her...

"Coward," Reiko snickered behind him, padding just behind him. "You were too going to go see the humans. Bet you were going to try and see how close they were and how much they were going to annoy you." Reiko yawned, her jaw popping loudly. "They don't bug me at all, they're fun to harass though." And they had wonderful shiney things to steal and hoard.
Reiko shifted the bag between her wings and padded silently for a while. She was memorizing the deava walking slightly in front of her; she definitely wanted to find him again. He was fun to annoy. Reiko bet this guy could drive her father bananas with insults then utter silence. Reiko snickered again.

Nars didn't even dignify that with a response. Who in their right mind actually went out to go see humans? The two-leggers looked weird, with their flat faces and lack of any fur they could call their own except for that bit growing out of their head. They had no claws, no fangs, were ridiculously slow, and freaked out over the simplest things.
The only redeeming feature those ground-bound no-furs had going for them was their hands and ability to create things. Of course they were slowly poisoning the world in their search to make new things and expand their territories, so really Nars would have liked to dump the lot of them in the ocean and be done with it.
Thus, the only anwser he gave to the vixen was more silence.
