He had snuck away from the compound knowing full well he should have been in his stall getting better. Dorian wasn't the smartest when locking his gate door, and besides he wasn't that stupid to not open the gate. It really wasn't complicated and he could manipulate it with his paws. Eventually his human would change the lock, or he wouldn't.
That's when he crashed in the light striped mokai. "Oh, geez." He blinked a few times feeling woozy. He was still healing from his fight. Though when he looked up he recognized her and a brief grin lit up his features. "Ai." Then it dropped back into that neutral state.

After her battle (and the argument between her owner and the medical staff at the compound), Ai found herself in the home of her master, a rare treat from the young fighter. Winning her second battle, the man was to infatuated with the money he had received to keep her in a stall for a few days, and insisted on bringing her into the house. The Mrs. didn’t appreciate it much, but she did particularly enjoy the protection a fighter mokai brought to the house.
Today Ai was outside. Her wounds were already healing, although she still had a slight limp. However, she’d rather have a limp, than a torn and mangled body like her opponent Imnir. Served him right, and Ai sure hoped that she had brought him down from his high horse. She had not seen the mokai since the fight, so she only could assume that he was still in the infirmary.
Not paying attention to where she was going, Ai stumbled over the light male. “What the?” She looked up from the ground staring into equally gold eyes. “Oh. Erebus. It’s just you.” For a moment she thought it was the cocky fighter, but seeing it was the ‘rebel’ eased her mind. She didn’t think she could do another scuffle right at this moment.

"What's wrong Ai?" Erebus was genuinely worried. She was too pretty to be sad at this moment. If anyone had a soft spot in his heart it was Ai. Something about her, maybe it was her frowning all the time. He just wanted to cheer her up. "Always having a long face isn't good for a growing girl." he teased a little.
He didn't even realize his tail had been wagging, he was just so happy to see her. Though Erebus hoped that Dorian wouldn't see him so happy with Ai, it might get awkward.

“Huh? Oh. I’m just a little sore that’s all. And relieved you aren’t the last mokai I saw in the compound.” Though, Ai was very curious on how that other mokai was doing. More so, not his health wise, but rather if his attitude on things got knocked down a few pegs. With injuries he had sustained, Ai only hoped.
A frown that always plagued Ai’s maw was something that never really disappeared. Occasionally she would flash a rare smile, but it was just natural for the striped mokai to keep her looks with sulk. She couldn’t help but upturn it just slightly towards his words. “You’re right. Just call it a force of habit.” She shrugged lightly.
“What are you doing here in the settlement? Your master bring you home for the week too?”

Force of habit eh? Well he might have to change that and put a smile on that girl's face. "You at least beat the snot out of whoever it was right?" he chuckled and scooted closer to her. "As for the reason I'm in the settlement its a secret." Another cheeky grin, "My human, Dorian isn't my master he's my best friend, put me in the stables. He wants to feel like a normal owner but I escaped. I've watched him with that stall a hundred times. I'm sure he'll come looking for me and take me home though."
That's when he pressed his paw against hers, "Come meet Dorian, Ai. He's really sweet. Sweeter than that dumb brute of a human you got."

“A secret?” She made a slightly ‘hmph’ noise. The striped female didn’t particularly enjoy secrets. “And here I thought you were just coming to see me.” Her tone wasn’t exactly that of a joking manner, but her eyes still held that glint that said ‘I’m kidding’.
Human, master, best friend, they were all the same thing really in Ai’s eyes. They were the being that fed you, trained you, and provided the needs to live a decent life. At least, her master was like that. “Not so much a best friend if he locks in you a stall.” It seemed logical. How was one a friend if they didn’t take you home every night. Ai considered JB more so her…companion. Friend would be stretching it.
“I…” she peeked over to the Lindon’s home, staring into the closed window. “I don’t think he would appreciate that. Especially after last time…” Her head dropped slightly, but ears perked forward and tail beat the ground quickly after.
“What if we brought my guy to see your guy! That’d work…I think…?”

If the red could come through his fur he'd be beat red. Yes, well he was sort of looking for her so she had it partially true. He blinked a few times, trying to keep himself calm, did she hear his heart beating so quickly? Did she hear the hitch in his breath? Did his breath smell good? So many variables here.
"I, uh." He was choking on his words, how did she fluster him so. Then she changed the subject, which made it a bit easier for him to not be such a boy.
Clearing his throat be started, " He had to. We are supposed to be in those stalls, he's got to put up an act sometimes." That's when she looked sad, his ears laid flat against his head, "Did you get in trouble?" he asked, worried now for her safety. Bringing Dorian wouldn't be so hard, though he'd never get over the embarrassment and the baby talk he'd endure. He had endured that when he was a pup, to endure it as an adult. Lovely. "I'll bring him here."

“The first time I ran out with you, I got in trouble.” It wasn’t terrible, like he didn’t beat her or anything. “He tied to me a tether so I couldn’t wander away. And then a cull got me free from that tether, and then he kept me on a really short leash.” The female puffed up. It was more or less embarrassing for a fighter to be punished by being on a leash when around her owner, but she knew she had done wrong, and suffered the consequences for it.
“But since I beat that jackass in the compound, he’s giving me more leniencies. Not that I can go far quickly with some of these injuries. I don’t want to test him again.” Ai said matter-of-factly. She was a loyal mokai, and she needed to start living up to that.
Her tail beat softly on the ground again. “Okay! I’ll wait here then?”

He had come with Dorian, who looked flustered and his prim and proper self was all over the place. His blond hair was even more messy than it was before. However, the human still held himself high even when he called and nearly tripped to reach Erebus who was wagging his tail like a pet not a fighter. The glint in Dorian's eye though told an entire story in it of itself.
"Is this the girl you are so excited about Ere?" Dorian grinned and laughed, "She's pretty, no wonder you keep looking out the window watching the streets."
Wide-eyed Erebus looked from Dorian to Ai, "He didn't say that, did he?" Tail dropping and ears going back. Of course Dorian would only hear his low whimpers of embarrassment. Then he tried to right himself by holding himself up high like a fighter would, showing off his firm body he cleared his throat, "Dorian, my human and my beta."

As Erebus returned with his human, Ai shyly walked over to the human. Her tail was slightly between her legs, showing who was the dominant over the two. Nice to meet you, Dorian, Ai yipped, sniffing the other. “Beta you say?” She grinned at that. For her it was the opposite. JB was the alpha, and she was whatever would rank below him and his wife. Beta maybe. Gamma even.
Speak of the devil. As soon as Dorian had walked up, JB was watching out the window. He made a few noises of grumbling inside, before leaving his home, strolling up to the other human. He spotted the white fighter on the ground next to Ai, and smirked slightly.
“My dear boy!” JB appeared much older than Dorian. Slightly heavy set with a growing beard and mustache combination. He looked as if he was in the business strictly for the money. “Is this your mokai? A fighter, is he not as well?” JB stared at the two. “A male fighter.” He seemed very interested. “My girl is Ai, maybe you have seen her in the compound against others? She’s a jewel, and a winner too!”
“Erebus. This is my master JB.” She introduced, just as the human was introducing himself to the other owner.

Erebus didn't like him, but he wouldn't say anything to Ai about it. JB was her owner not his. "Well ok, sometimes we're on the same level." He scooted closer to her, being defensive. Though he was still a bit flustered he strutted his stuff in a sense as he sat next to her. He wanted to spill his heart to her, but that was a bit hard when Dorian was standing right there. Even if he didn't understand, it was something for a private moment.
Catching his breath, Dorian greet JB warmly. "I have and it seems Erebus has taken a liking to her." Though he seemed a tiny bit defensive only because Erebus was like a son to him, like, he was a son. "Though, I don't want his heart to get broken if she's already got some other males lined up for her. She looks like she could breed beautiful fighters."
Dorian reached out for Erebus, petting his gently once. "He's a good fighter himself. Tied the last one but it was pretty damned close. This week I think he'll go far. Names Dorian. Dorian Ciel." Using his doctor voice at the last part.
Erebus chuckled, "Dorian is... Dorian. Wait..." He caught onto what Dorian was saying, she might have others. He bristled, "You don't have anyone else do you?" Getting jealous now.

JB hadn’t realized that this male was the one he saw Ai take off with a few weeks back. If he had, perhaps the conversation would have gone differently. “It does seem that way, doesn’t it.” He watched the two mokai with interest, ideas bubbling in his thick head. “You talk of hearts, sir. They are animals. Bred for only a few purposes.” He noted, glancing from the two fighters to Dorian.
“I honestly have not thought of a male for her yet.” The idea of little dollar signs entered his mind when Dorian had mentioned breeding ‘beautiful’ fighters. “Though, I do know if there is a few thing people look forward to when it comes to having fighters, is they want potential and beauty.” A sly smirk appeared on his lips, but frowned when Dorian had mentioned the fighters ‘track record’. He wouldn’t let that stray his thoughts though.
“I’m J.Boyd Lindon. Friends call me JB though. You know, funny thought just popped into my mind. I’m a businessman you see, and I am always one to look into a mokai’s future.” He watched Dorian. “What say we breed these two together. With Ai’s statistics and looks and…Erebus you say, whi his looks and potential, I foresee great things from offspring of these two. What say you. There can be a hefty sale price for the pups, if they are deemed worthy enough.” All JB saw was dollar signs in his head. He believed mokai didn’t know the concept of love, so it was up for humans to make that decision for them.
Ai really didn’t understand what the two were saying. She just sat patiently, ears flickering back and forth. She glanced at Erebus. “Anyone else…?” She thought for a moment. “No.” All the other males she had met were either culls, dicks or left the walls of the settlement.

Dorian had to hold his tongue. It was people like this he hated, but he had to admit they would made beautiful pups. It was just like people back home who bred fighters, thinking them only as dumb animals. Then again no one thought like he did. "I agree with you. We'll breed them together. I'd like first pick of the pups however. Especially if there are girls." He wanted to have a firm hand, this man probably thought he was a wuss, so stepping up now he felt a bit better.
Listening to both Dorian and Ai, he plopped his rump down and gave a snarl to show his teeth. He was putting on a show to show JB that he was more than some pretty fighter. "Ai..." taking off the show boating facade, "I think I'm falling for you."

“Good. I am actually looking for boys. Not that I don’t love my Ai.” At her name, the mokai’s ears perked forward, her tail beating on the ground a few times. “But between you and I, males have so much more promise. You get what I am saying?” JB asked, a sly grin on his mouth. The man eyed the white mokai with an amused grin. “Hopefully his attitude isn’t always like that.” He said sternly. “Fighters should know their place, and showing teeth towards humans is not one of them.”
Ai glanced over at Erebus. “He’s not going to hurt you. Why try to make him think he will?” The striped female asked. She loved her human, it was pretty obvious about that. Her ears perked forward as he said her name. “You…what…uhm…” The female looked down. If her cheeks could flush a bright red, they’d be doing so now. “I---….” She was speechless.
“So. In a few days, say three, we will meet at the breeding barn. I might need to take Ai to the vet before then, just to make sure she will be okay for it.” He outstretched his hand, wanting Dorian to take it. “So. See you then, huh?” That glint remained in his eyes. In his mind, dollar signs kachinged rapidly.

Dorian grinned at Erebus, "He's just showing. Usually he does it on my command, but it seems he likes you and wanted to show you he's got potential." Though he'd have to scold Erebus for being so forward. So he had shot him a look. "I will. Erebus we're leaving."
"I was just showing I have potential with you." Flustered again. But it seemed Dorian and JB had made their decision. Dorian was already calling him to leave but he still hadn't heard Ai's response, "Ai...?" Begging as he started to get up and leave, "Please, tell me. Do you?"
