Eh, maybe I'm just a nerd, but I usually find that characters in books -are- real. I'll read a book and think, 'oh, I know someone just like her.' Or I'll see a character as an inspiration or more of an ideal than a real person. So I don't usually find myself wishing for a book character to be a real person.
However, I can relate with the perfect guy thing. I've read of one or two, and I just had to stop and ask, "why aren't any REAL men like that?"

Especially when you are a sophomore. Why can't guys be more mature? I'll read a book, and probably find 3 guys in the first 10 pages that are cooler than any of my guy friends.

Many characters already seem very real to me. Often they do that which my friends in real life cannot and that is to make me feel better. I could escape from my loneliness into their worlds.

After reading Inkheart and Inkspell, I don't think I'd wish for characters to be real. They'd hate me... sweatdrop

Oh, I definitely have chars. I wish could be real. I've also seen some who are just like some of my friends.
As for those who should be real. . . Yuki Sohma from Fruits Basket and Leeward from Galax-Arena. 3nodding

I often find myself wishing that Sir Percy Blakeney was real. A romantic English gentleman and a heroic rescuer... what's not to love? He's even civil to his enemies, except when they make lewd comments regarding his beloved wife. I still wonder what the guard said that would make Sir Percy come from the brink of death to slug him real good.

Richard from Neverwhere so I can slap the pansy-ness out of him..
But after reading Inkheart and Inkspell, like Phantomette said, I am afraid of them coming out of books. I think the shock of our world being so different would make them freak out...

I've got to say Captain Carrot from the Discworld series is real to me, because he acts exactly like my boyfriend Dev. And i guess, besides the fact i'm neither a warewolf or am i sexy, my personality is quite similar to that of Carrots girlfriend Angua... so i guess he is kinda real for me. It's all about finding the qualities you see in characters in books in the people you actually know.

I kind of wish that Erik from The Phantom of the Opera were real. I would probably end up getting punjabbed, but at least I'd get to meet Erik before I died!
(On a bit of an unrelated note, I won an Erik plushie at the arcade today, which made me wish even more that he were real.)
