Altair was uncomfortable, He'd promised Ezio that he'd try and aproach a mare and spend some time with her, charm her and other such things that Altair just wasn't used to. So far Altair had failed totally at chatting up a mare, he just didn't seem to have the same way with words that his Eloquent brother had. They'd just spotted a mare off grazing by some apple trees and Ezio had prodded him to go over but Altair was stalling, "Ezio i just don't know what to say" He felt like the younger brother right now, not the elder.

Ezio smothered a laugh, looking over at the oddly attired mare, she looked somewhat different but that made him inclined to think that she might be just what his brother needed. "Its simple, go over, don't intimidate, ask her her name, offer your name, talk about something random... The weather, the season, comment on her lovely but interestingly different tail... Pick a feature..." Not sure what his brother was so unsure about but it was how it was and having spent so much time alone and silent it was unsurprising that Altair was so unsure.

Velvet had been knocking apples off of trees again, in fact she had knocked off more than she would need. Munching quite happily, unaware of the 2 stallions observing her as she eats. Pondering what to do with the apples, her tail flicking as she thinks.

Altair nodded, "tail.. random..season .. right" he said, making his almost silent way over to the mare, glancing back at Ezio to catch the smothered laugh, he glared but he HAD promised him he'd try. He didn't really think about him being stealthy, it was just how he was training had become instinct with Altair and it wasn't until he was within striking distance of the mare that he stopped and coughed once, to alert her to his prescence.

Ezio grins and heads out of sight, thinking he could go and lurk out of earshot and sight. He knew his brother would not want an audience, and so he slipped away. Hoping that his brother had some luck as he moved out of sight silently.

Velvets head shot up at the cough, blinking at the hooded armed stallion. Her eyes widening a little as she chews, then shrugging mentally her eyes gaining a twinkle of mischief, figuring that he would have done her in already if he had wanted to. "Hello... What can I do for you mysterious stranger?"

Altair coughed, "I... uh .. " he cursed himself, if this had been a job, talking to a mare to get to soemthing he needed, it would be easy.... "It's a wonderful day for apples isn't it?" he said, seemingly ignoring her question, in fact he just wanted to say something that wasn't stupid. "Do for me? oh ... nothing Miss.. uh.... I'm Altair" he said, smiling carefully

Velvet watched him her green eyes twinkling. as she looks at him. "Yes its raining apples if you kick the tree hardenough.... or get hold of a branch." Glancing back at the tree before looking at him again, her braid swinging, smiling as he gave his name. "I'm Velvet, its nice to meet you." Though looking at him seeing mostly just his nose it was a little unnerving to ee him smile. "Hey would you like some? I kind of knocked too many off.... I hate wasting food..." Bending over and nudging several over towards him.

Altair looked up at the tree, then at the ground "You seem to be good at getting apples" he said, seeing how many she'd managed to drop. "Velvet, that's a nice name" he added, trying to think what advice Ezio had given him "Oh er... your tail is very unusual ... " he said, fumbling on what he meant but it was too late to take it back now. so he took her up on her offer and bit down into one of the apples she'd nudged over towards him.

Velvet looked round at her tail and wagged it a little as she pondered that and then shrugs and nods. "Yeah... My dad has a tail like this... my brother and I inherited that from him..." Looking down at the fluff that covered her chestt, it looked soft and ideal for nuzzling, though a little unusual on a mare. "... The chest hair too... Do you think it makes me look manly?" Striking what was supposed to be a masculine pose though she didn't pull it off, she might not be a demure lady but she was a female. Though if he got to know her better he would find that she was a little brash and boyish... and prone to standing up for herself whenever she felt the slightest bit bullied.

Altair watched as she wagged her tail, his own short one twitching. "Inheritance.... can be a gift or a curse" he said quietly after swallowing a chunk of apple, he'd let his hood slide a little further back so she could see some of his face at least, he was glad he'd swallowed because the vision of the mare trying to stike a manly pose made him stifle a chortle, instead he coughed "Sorry, bit of apple stuck in my throat" he lied with a smile. "Ahem... very uh.. manly Velvet" he said, amused. She was certainly different from the mares that Ezio went for and had introduced him to so far.

Velvet stopped posing and blushed, laughing a little unsurely. "... Yeah... Thats me... the other son..." Se wasn't, in fact she was teh nicest of her siblings, but then tha was only because her brother was totally indifferent or oblivious to everything and everyone. Her sister... was her fathers child... though worse. Sighing as she thinks about it and nods. "Yeah... Sometimes you don't have to inherit things for it to be a curse..."

Altair smiled somewhat sadly "That's true Velvet" he said, maybe this mare knew what it was like to have been born into something you couldn't control. He chewed throughtfully on another peice of apple for a moment. "All we can do is make the best of what we have and focus on being the best we can" he said

Velvet nods her ears drooping a little. "Yeah... Though..." Shaking her head, she wasn't going to burden someone she didn't know with her troubles. Smiling at him brightly havign cast off her melencholy, taking a big bite out of an apple and grinning at him as she eats it.
