[Plot RP Part 2]
Part 1. So This is Love Part 2. A Little Scheming
- - -
Several days had passed since Nyx's grand tour of the airship. By this point all of Team Galactic was aware of her presence. None of them really seemed sure what to make of her appearance, but nobody dared voice any concerns.
Under orders, Star had been preparing a special vehicle for Nyx and Deimos to take out on a romantic day trip. The Braviary jet that they'd passed on her arrival had been hauled back into the robotics lab for some last minute adjustments to make sure it was ready for the event. Though he wasn't sure why it was necessary, Deimos seemed appreciative that every effort was being made to make it a nice day.
Currently the Galactic Boss had Nyx in his studio, showing her his plans for a new engine that was so efficient it seemed to defy physics while Tethys prepared snacks for their planned outing.
"See? It's not that complicated at all. You can't break Newton's law, so you just find a way around it. Once you factor in the self-propulsion system it basically resupplies its own fuel at 1.27 times the rate of consumption!" Deimos always seemed to show enthusiasm as he yammered about his latest inventions, regardless of how interested Nyx behaved.
Meanwhile, a familiar voice crackled over Tethys' communicator. "It's ready."

Tethys stopped carving the ears on an apple rabbit and picked up the device lying next to the bowl of water she'd been using for rice balls. "Good. Stand by."
Five minutes later saw her in the aircraft hangar carrying two colorful lunchboxes (one with a print of happy Shaymin in a flower field) in her hands. Her stride carried her past the grunts making some last few preparations to stop beside Star.
"What did you do to it," the commander inquired, eyes on the gleaming aircraft in front of them. It looked flawless. But then, it was supposed to.

Star was standing near the aircraft, hands folded behind his back as he watched the grunts scrambling around. He cast a sideways glance at Tethys when she arrived, then looked back at the Braviary. "I replaced all the fuses with unique ones of my own design. When they go the redundant systems will fail to initiate. It'll be operational long enough to get clear of the ship." He gracefully elevated one hand, "After that all the electronics will go dark. It'll just fall out of the sky." He let his hand drop, "I've rigged the controls to a remote unit. We get her alone in there and it'll take off on its own. As far as the Boss will know, she took the first chance she was given to attempt an escape.. and tragically lost control of the vehicle." He turned his eyes back on Tethys, risking a devious little smirk.

It was met with one of the commander's blank, almost expressionless gazes that said no more than I acknowledge that you spoke. "You come up with interesting things in your spare time," she commented, holding his gaze a fraction too long before she looked away.
As she gazed at the jet, she murmured a quiet 'Well done.'
Then she was walking away in a swirl of her long white coat, speaking into her communicator. "Preparations are complete, sir."

Star abandoned some of his subservient hunch, puffing his chest out at Tethys' praise. Looking quite pleased with himself, he stepped back over to the aircraft to boss some grunts around.
"Excellent, Tethys!" Came Deimos' reply. "We're on our way!" As excited as ever, the Galactic Boss took Nyx by the arm to lead her to the hangar, "You're going to love the spot for our picnic." He'd already described it to the fluffy-haired Rocket twice, but this didn't stop him from doing it a third time.

"Oh, I bet I will." Nyx said cheerfully as she was dragged along by a very excited Deimos. As many times as he repeated himself, she didn't get terribly irritated, after-all, Nyx was one of the most friendly rockets back at the base; When Deimos explained his plans and inventions, she listened intently, not only because she was a spy, but also because she was a scientist--some of the things he had to talk about were legitimately interesting.

On the occasions that Deimos' chosen topic clearly sparked Nyx's interest, the speed and enthusiasm of his explanations doubled. He didn't really have any science-minded people on the ship who cared to hold conversations with him. It was exciting to chat with someone who understood even half of what he was saying.
Bouncing with each step and still holding Nyx's arm, Deimos hurried into the hangar, "We had the Braviary made ready especially for this trip. I'm going to teach you to fly it!" He announced, waving at Tethys.
Star was standing near the aircraft's side hatch, eyeing the pair as they approached.

A grunt came up to Tethys with a thermos and cups in a bag.
She took it from him and inspected it. "This is orange juice."
The grunt shifted, looking uncertain about the meaning of the statement.
"She hates orange juice," the commander clarified. And loved princesses, and pink, and particular species of slime mold. All of this had been gleefully revealed to her by Deimos as she'd cut his hair the other day, and Tethys had no choice but to listen or slice off an ear.
"My apologies, ma'am - I can take it back for something else. ..ma'am?"
Tethys wasn't listening. She'd seen Nyx - or rather, seen what Nyx was wearing.
"No." The expression on the pale woman's face would have frozen Orre for a week. She left the grunt without a word and approached the happy couple in what could only be described as a stalk, the plastic lunchboxes bowing under her grip. She didn't return the wave.

"Oh- Really?" Nyx had heard him say something about that when she was first kidnapped, but he had said a lot of things in his excitement. "Neat." The response was simple, but sincere. The scientist grinned at Tethys, obviously enjoying her torment over Nyx being there and in Deimos' best graces, a black cape with gold trim--slightly shorter than Deimos' cape--dangled from behind her, taunting Tethys. Mneme had been all too happy to design Nyx a custom Galactic Outfit, especially considering no one ever really wanted anything she designed, despite them being wonderful and amazing. The rest of the outfit consisted of a white sleeveless top and skirt with black accents, a pair of gloves, black stockings (like all the other galactics wore, of course), and white boots. All she needed now was a hair coloring and eyepatch.

"Absolutely!" Deimos nodded. It went without saying that he'd been thrilled with the outfit Mneme assembled for Nyx. When he'd seen that it had a cape matching his, he'd been positively giddy.
From his vantage point by the Braviary, Star observed the matching set and grimaced.
"Excellent job getting everything ready, Tethys." Deimos nodded at his second in command when she approached.

"Sir." It was a bland reply that made it clear Tethys was as happy to be praised for arranging a romantic outing for Deimos and the Thing as she would be to eat glass, but Tethys very rarely sounded enthused about anything. She gestured with a free hand toward the jet. "There are a few last things to attend to. I will follow you shortly."

Deimos nodded and led Nyx to the side hatch, "I'll familiarize you with the controls!"
Star was still standing by the hatch. He lowered his head respectfully at the pair as they passed him, cast a glance at Tethys, then followed them inside.
The inside of the aircraft was shiny and new. "I'm so glad you'll be here for its first flight." Deimos glanced around the interior as they approached the controls. It had a curved panoramic window along the front, giving a clear view of the runway ahead and the rolling hills beyond that. "Have you ever flown anything before?"

"Besides a pokemon? No." Nyx inspected the various controls, even though she had no idea what any of them did. "I've been in a helicopter--but you knew that." He ought to have remembered that they crashed and got trapped in that cave due to their two helicopters going down. Nyx left out that she far preferred riding pokemon to flying in any machine.

"Oh yes, your Mi-17s." Deimos nodded, looking over the controls alongside Nyx. "Don't worry, you'll pick this up in no time. My control interfaces are mostly automated. These things practically fly themselves." He was obviously very proud, "I mean when you're in the middle of a midair battle you can't really be bothered with fussing over the controls right?" He chuckled, pointing at the yoke, "Take the wheel there and get a feel for it."
Star watched all this from just inside the hatch, hands clasped behind his back. He cast a glance outside, then cleared his throat, "Sir, I believe the Commander is calling you."
"Mm?" Deimos looked over his shoulder, noticing for the first time that Star was even there.
"She's just outside. She probably has some question about your juice preference..."
"Oh! Of course." Juice was serious business. He cast a smile at Nyx as he stepped toward the door, "Play with the buttons. I'll be right back!" And he hopped outside.
Star watched him go, then looked back at Nyx.

"That's smart." Note to self, figure out how these automated systems worked. Nyx took hold of the yoke and jiggled it around. She could barely handle driving a car... how was she supposed to fly this thing? Were these things inverted or not? Just how automated was automated?
Deimos left on account of juice, "Ah... alright..." Play with buttons? That sounded dangerous to do in a giant metal bird. What if there was a button that made it explode. Nyx decided against pressing buttons in favor of just looking them over. Looking was interrupted when she noticed Star looking at her. "What?"
