Here they were, back in the ring again for round two it seemed. His oppenent was the same one he had fought before. What as her name again? Oh right, Seven. What an interesting name. He didn't tug at his collar to make his human release him just yet. Their battle hadn't begun yet. He could see the judges getting ready and everyone eyeing them.
He could feel it, they were about to begin. Now he was beginning to tug and snarl at the end of his rope. He wasn't going to get cocky this time. It was a fight, to the best man goes the victors.
The bell rung and he felt the freedom of being let off the leash, he heard his human yell for him to go. Already he felt his paws digging into the dirt as he charged hard. If he hit, he'd swipe with his claws or head butt with his horns.

And it was all for the experience. She had plenty to learn, plenty to perfect, and she would do it. She would rise to the top and become the best one day, of that she was certain.
For now, it was all in the practice.
She had barely sprang from Devin's grasp when the light Mokai came charging, and she felt the breath knocked out of her by his attack. Ouch. She had barely enough time to whip around and swipe back viciously with her claws, and- oh! Her brand new fangs. Of all the things that had grown on her in the last few weeks, those were the most useful.

He snarled and dodged her attack, dancing with her. He had seen the attack coming and moved. His human had done good with these potions, Dorian was looking out for him for sure. Now Erebus got into a defensive stance, she was going to come at him again and he could brace for it before retaliating with his own onslaught of attacks.
The light colored male dropped his head, keeping his horns forward with his eyes low. She'd have to come at him and at that time he could buck his head up and tear at her. Growling, he egged her on with a twitch of his tail.

Circling, she sought an open space into which she could dash and offer some sort of attack without getting horribly gored by those horns. Her options seemed to be running out, and now they were both just stalling.
She charged, dropping down close to the ground at the last minute to avoid his horns.

He didn't see it until the last minute. First she had been circling him and he had been watching her, but he had to look up to get a good view of her and that's the moment it fell apart. He gave snarling barks as she caught up with him that turned into a quick whimper he silenced. The female had surprised him and that irritated him.
With her still in reach he opened his maw, the saber fangs could also cause serious damage if he got ahold of her. But it was the two paws that were coming up to grab around her neck to bring her down that he had up his sleeve.

She struggled to wriggle out of his grasp, but he was heavy, and there was no getting out. As a last resort, she twisted under him, hoping to flip him off balance and her in doing so.

She had tried to flip him and just barely managed it but he wobbled and lost some grip on her. With a flick of his tail he tried to use that to blind her, or daze her for a moment as he threw a paw out for her face. It was a strategy that could work.
Then he tried to gore her again with his horns, getting a lot of weight behind him as he pushed off the ground. No cocky words this time around, he knew this battle was almost finished. He could feel it.

He could see her rolling towards him and went to dodge it, meaning his attack at that moment would be thwarted. As he lept over her and he charged again. Swiping with his claws and growling through bared teeth. Trying to gore her as getting old but he wanted to snap at her and that's what he did. Erebus took a quick look at his human and did just that, snapping at her with his strong jaws.

It seemed he had given up trying to use his horns. Mistake. The horns had been the one thing that had worried her, and now that he had changed his tactic, there was nothing holding her back. She dodged to the side and snapped, aiming to bury her teeth into the back of his neck and put an end to the fight.

He bucked and threw her off of him, he was about to attack again when they called the bell. Throwing a glance at her he trotted back to Dorian who patted him in congratulations. They had tied. Unfortunate as it was. But they had come close, much better than the last fight he had been in. Erebus didn't wince when Dorian patted him, but he wanted to. He'd get pampered a bit and then scolded to keep up his fighters resolve, but it was worth getting scolded if he was going to get fed good tonight.
"Hey!" he barked at Seven, "Good fight."

She heard the bell and Devin's low whistle, and almost instantaneously, the fighting lust drained from her. The furious light in her eyes faded and she became that demure, careful girl she usually was. Turning with a wave of her bushy tail, she made her way back to the edge of the pit, where Devin's hand ran down her neck, and she purred lightly and tilted her head to tickle his hand with her fluffy ear tips. He liked that.
Turning back, she smiled and nodded, and for the second time in as many weeks, she accepted his words. "Back at you."
