Deneb Kaitos hadn't had much of a contact with his teammates so far, beside Veer and Quinn. It seemed like there was always something on his plate, always something to do. Horizon Institute had taken him, helped ground him back to the reality of Earth life, but he still have a life to rebuild. He had to find a place to stay - certainly couldn't crash on Veer's couch forever. Clothing to buy, ultimately a new laptop...
Still, he did it all without a word of complain. He knew some others had it worse. He had fled his parents willingly - but Navi hadn't been given a choice. Navi had lost everything, down to her own name.
He wasn't sure what to do or say, or if he even say or do anything about it. But she seemed like a strong woman, a warrior in her own right - he figured if there was anything he needed to do to help her, she would let him know, somehow.
Leto had assigned them in pairs for energy gathering to start with - for safety. If they got in a pickle, then Deneb Kaitos knew where all the mirrors in the area were - thanks to an earlier reconnaissance with his mentor.
Now, he waited for Navi to come, idly playing with the strings that drew the pouch hidden in his bracers closed - his mirrorwraith.

Despite living with Quinn, Lydia had actually seen very little of her fellow Dark Mirror Senshi. A couple had come to visit, but for whatever reason Lydia hadn't been home. It was just bad luck really. She'd have loved a chance to get to know the rest of her team, not to mention the whole of their small court. Ah well, now that she had finished making her room a little more homey, she was hoping to work on that.
She was glad when Leto had let her know she'd be working with Deneb Kaitos on an energy collecting mission. Not only an excellent distraction, but a wonderful means to to get to know the other senshi. She knew nothing about him other then he was currently bunking with Veer, so she had to guess he'd had to give up his former life as well. She could definitely relate.
He was already at the meeting point when Navi approached quietly from behind, heels clicking softly on the pavement with every long step. "Sorry to keep you waiting."
Her own wraith was safely tucked away in a similar pouch within the cuff of her boot, and it would stay there until she actually needed to use it. She'd been given the lecture on the mirrorwraiths and the difficulty in creating them. She wasn't about to drop the little mirror fragment being careless.
"Do we have a target yet?" Perhaps he'd spotted someone while waiting for her.

It wasn't quite the whole truth - Deneb Kaitos no longer had his parents, and no longer had the friends he'd made at Azure, but he still had himself - a small comfort, really.
"Nah, I just arrived a minute or so ago." Even if it had been longer than that, really... He always found that it was a rather silly thing to be upset about.
"Hm... I spotted a couple making out on a park bench while coming here. I dunno if they're still there, through... But I figure we shouldn't both go for the same target, anyway ?"
Wouldn't want to kill them, really. That'll drag attention, and... well, Deneb Kaitos just plain didn't want to kill anyone.

A smile slid along pale lips as he assured her he hadn't been waiting long, and because she had no reason not to believe him she let it go. Whether or not she'd truly been late would remain a secret, and they could get onto the task at hand. It was nicely linear.
At the mention of the couple however, the smile slipped a little. "No, probably not," she agreed, though she wasn't exactly keen on the idea of attacking presumably innocent civilians. She would, if that was all there was to find that night, but she'd much prefer going after those that deserved a little roughing up.
"Do we really want to go after them though?" She wasn't sure she should be asking, and that hesitation showed on her face when she glanced up at him. "I'm sure we could find some gang members in the more unsavory parts of the park." She was watching him as she asked, gauging his reaction.
Navi might have had a severe bone to pick with the white moon court and their damn knights, but she wasn't about to take that aggression out on people that didn't deserve it. Noble, or just stupid maybe, but still true.

It might have been a big deal, or it might not - through, ultimately, if they woke up just fine after they were done, Deneb Kaitos didn't see where the problem was, ultimately. But it seemed obvious that Navi was uncomfortable on some level, and he wasn't hard-headed enough to press on and unsettle a teammate.
As long as they didn't come empty-handed, really, it was all that ultimately mattered for him.
"Probably..." He paused a moment to ponder. "I haven't been here much before... I used to go to Azure, so I stuck to the other side of town." He gave her an apologetic smile. "Do you have an idea where we should start looking ?"

A grateful smile was turned up to Deneb Kaitos, and she visibly relaxed. There was no way she was going to jeopardize their mission, but if they could go about it in a more justifiable way, then she'd prefer that.
Lucky for the both of them, Navi happened to have noticed a small bunch of teens slinking about near some basketball courts on her way to meeting her teammate, with any luck they'd still be there, and if not? Well, she'd compromise. If there weren't any punks about to go after, then they'd find whoever they could, and perhaps just be.. gentle.
"I saw a bunch of kids heading off towards the courts about a hundred yards back the way I came. I bet they're still there, or very close." Grinning, she took a couple steps back then turned, waiting for Deneb to fall into step beside her. "I don't know about you, but I've never known any wholesome kids to hang around in parks after dark."

Deneb Kaitos fell into step quickly, in spite of his heels. He still wasn't used to them, really, and ******** did his feet hurt, by gods.
At least he didn't have a skirt. Perhaps he should consider himself thankful for that... Seemed like this whole senshi thing was pre-dominantly female.
Uh.
"Yeah... definitively not." He answered with his own grin. "Maybe they'll think twice about causing trouble after a little fright..."
Hmm.

Navi was right at home in the heels, and each and every step she took but a little extra sway in her hips. In 5 inch spikes, it was pretty much impossible walking without some sort of allure. She wasn't doing it on purpose, but she wasn't fighting it either.
"Probably. If nothing else, the park will be a lot safer for the rest of the night once all the little thugs flee home." They'd be stupid to linger. Of course the teens they were after weren't really known for their smarts, now were they?
She was actually excited, and that showed in the light in her eyes and the smile still lingering on pale lips. The wraith in her pouch had thus far gone unused, and she was keen to see it in action. Not to mention the satisfaction that would come along with completing an actual mission. Ares would be proud.
The shadowed stretch of the courts were coming into view now, and Navi pointed towards the bleachers beneath the trees to one side. It was almost black, but not quite dark enough to hide the cluster of hunched bodies milling about. "Right over there."

On the flipside, Deneb Kaitos lacked any sort of elegance - really, he was more focused on not falling flat on his face. That was kind of important - he had no desire to look like a complete and utter moron in front of anyone he was going to work with on the long term.
First impressions were, in fact, everything, and he doubted that being suddenly tossed in mirrorspace while half of them had been dead hours earlier counted.
This was also Deneb Kaitos' first time with mirrorshards - Leto hadn't gotten that far with him, thanks to a white mooner crashing on their training session, but he'd been explained how they worked.
"Yeah, I see them." His voice went lower, whisper-like, as they neared their targets. The boys were rowdy, loud, and about his age - through he didn't think he knew any of them.
"We try to separate them, or... ?" They had the advantage of numbers, even if Navi and him had the advantage of... well, everything else. "Maybe try to lure or two away... Scary noise in the night, one of them is bound to start a pissing contest about how will be brave and stupid enough to go see what it is."

Falling quiet herself, Navi moved a little closer to her partner so they could talk without being over heard. "Luring might work," she agreed, watching the cluster of young men intently. Really they needn't have worried about the group hearing them, they were loud enough in their own right to drown out most of the ambient noise weaving within the park.
Lips pursing, the girl did a quick head count. There was seven of them. Seven thugs, and only two senshi, the odds seemed stacked against the pair, but with the added benefits of being powered up they were both stronger and faster. Should something go wrong, Navi was confident they could take the lot of them. That wouldn't be the aim though, being far too much a pain in the a**.
As if on cue one of the boys started walking away from his friends and towards a patch of trees not far off, and it became apparent why a few seconds later when the sound of a zipper rang out strangely loud in the semi-quiet of the park.
"Bingo, I think we got found our first target." And after they'd gotten what they wanted from him, perhaps another would come to look for their missing friend. Fingers crossed it all went that smoothly.
With a tug to Deneb Kaitos' arm, Navi moved swiftly off the path and along the lawn, sticking to the shadows of the trees. They could grab him when he finished up, and no one would be the wiser.

Oh, this was their lucky night, obviously. Deneb Kaitos had do want to take on seven angry teenage boys, not when it would be easier to just drain them, reap the spoils, and get the hell out of dodge.
Though this one wouldn't have any added protection of 'safety in numbers' this far away from the rest of is buddies.
He followed Navi closely, reaching into his bracers to pull out the pouch. "You want to get this one, or should I ?" If one missed, well, the other could be ready to pick it up.
He felt a little nervous, really - not completely sure what to expect since he'd never done anything like this before.

There was a grand difference between theory and practical application. Navi was aware of this on an intellectual level, but it was there at the forefront of her mind as she crept ever closer to the teen. Spoken there planned sounded just dandy, but now they actually had to put it in motion, and the confidence the girl had moments before seemed to be ebbing ever so slightly.
They hadn't had to worry about separating one from the herd, luck had handled that for them, and she was confident in their ability to wield the mirrorwraiths. What made her slow was what came in between. How best to subdue the young man.
"I'll take him down, you collect his energy." She'd picked the target, come up with the basic structure of the plan, it was only fair she should be the one to do the dirty work.
Lips pressing into a thin line, Navi moved silently along the grass until she could press her back against the tree beside the one the thug was using as a urinal. She waited until the sound of water hitting the ground faded, then for the tell tale zip, not wishing to move to quickly and get an eyeful of something she'd rather not.
It was when he moved to rejoin his friends, that's when Navi moved from her cover. Spinning on her heel as she sped around the tree to grab the punk's collar and yank him back into the shadows. One pale hand snapping up to clasp tightly over his mouth to muffle the startled yell. "Quite now, we don't want to alarm anyone."
It was easier now that she actually had him in her grasp, and she allowed her body to take over, that clever mind taking a back seat. Her boosted strength was put to excellent use as she caught his arm as it swung back for her over his shoulder, twisting it painfully up between his shoulder blades. She kneed him in the small of his back to drop him to his knees, but it was the blow of her elbow to the back of his head that sent him sprawling across the grass, dazed. "Now, Deneb Kaitos."

Watching Navi take down the thug was like a spectacle in itself - and he couldn't help but wonder if she'd done something like this before. She at least seemed to know where to hit, which was more than he could say for himself, but he was watching, and trying to remember the motions she made for when their roles would be reversed.
After all, he would need to be the next to manage to do this so she could have an easy drain. He would accept no less of himself, really.
It was Navi saying his name that got him to react, stepping out of the shadows and taking the mirrorshard out of the pouch. He'd been stressed the value of those little shards, been told how hard it was to create them, how fragile they could be, and the cost of failure, should something happen.
The future of the dark mirror depended on how well they could all do this.
He found that it was easier than he thought it was - he aimed and the mirrorwraith seemed to know his intent, flying toward the dazed man and traversing his body like if it was a ghost - once it came out and hurried back into the shard Deneb Kaitos was holding, the thug's struggling had ceased completely.
"...That was seriously easier than what it sounds like." He couldn't help but blink in surprise, returning the now full of energy shard into the pouch, then back into his bracers.

The heel of one boot rested on the thug's back even after she'd subdued him, just in case her little blow to the head hadn't knocked him out completely. All they needed was a pissed of gang banger coming at them with some hidden blade, that would be just lovely.
No such unfortunate incident happened though, and she watched on curiously as Deneb sent his wraith out to leech at the young man's energy. She'd expected a little more difficulty really, but it came off looking seriously uncomplicated and down right easy. It made ginger brows rise with interest.
"Yeah, that looked easier then I thought." Which was a relief, all things considered. A little simplicity was refreshing.
The thug wasn't moving anymore. Not dead, but certainly out for the night, and she stepped back from him with a relieved smile. "One down, one to go. Now how to lure another away." The rest of the group was still gathered together near the bleachers beside basketball courts. "Any ideas?"

"I think they just.... know your intent ?" He was aware that he probably wasn't making much sense at all, but that was certainly how it had felt like. "The wraith only came out when I was ready for it to."
He figured that Navi would figure it out once she tried it. Really, one thought was all that it had seemed to take.
"We could just wait, or I... could go make some noise and hope to drag one away." A little dangerous, maybe, but worth the risk. Thugs were usually arrogant, right ? Wasn't an hard stretch to think that one of them would think that, whatever it was, they could handle it on their own.
