User ImageIt had been a few weeks since the litter of Ilyas through his Beybanu had made their ways separately into the roguelands. Harith thought he caught a glimpse of a brother every now and than. Bright yellow hide darting behind a tree. Bright blue eyes staring at him from a distance. Those telltale swirls. For the most part, however, he was alone. And glad of it. This was their burdens alone. You couldn't have your brother with you as you tried to woo a female into following you. Sibling rivalry would take over.

The adolescence jumped down from the rock he had been standing on, watching not only the plains around him for signs of prey-both hoofed and of the female variety-but also the skies. He had found an abandoned hole in the ground that was big enough for his still smaller-than-an-adult frame to fit into. His nose caught traces of wild dog scent. Likely this had been used by a small family of the canines to birth a litter before moving onto their next destination. It served as a good temporary shelter for the young lion when the clouds decided the earth needed a bit of a shower.

So far today, the sky had been clear. It had rained a few days ago. Harith had spent a good part of the day curled up in the den, until he'd grown tired of the cramped conditions and emerged, caking himself in mud as he did so. Standing on this very rock, he'd let the water from the sky wash his fur clean, deciding a hole in the ground hadn't been a good choice of shelter after all. The rain wasn't going to hurt him. The growing mane snaking down the back of his neck made his head feel heavy when it was wet. Not a comfortable experience.

Blue eyes kept watch around him. He hadn't yet eaten today. Another unsuccessful hunt. It made him wonder how his brothers were fairing. Were they doing any better at hunting large game by themselves? None of them had done it before. At least not to his knowledge. He knew his brother Ima and he had attempted to catch a mouse in their youth, but that was the end of his knowledge of the rest of their hunting skills. Since he always stayed so close to the family den, he couldn't be sure of what his brothers were doing when they left on their own adventures around the pride. Were they preparing on their own for this journey of self-exploration? Or perhaps preparing for their own harem, by wooing females in the pride itself?

User ImageSethunya had found herself back in the roguelands looking for who knows what, she had tried settling down with a pride but, she the pride itself, though with some reluctance from the males she left, the pride was all bout the blood line, not that it bothered her as much but all the males wanted to mate with her, the bloodline in that pride was very inbred, you could say and any new blood was very coveted. It was too crowded she just wanted one mate... just one.

Seth sighed as her stomach growled, she kneaded the ground feeling it beneath her paws. Time to hunt. greyish-lavender eyes kept a lookout for something hoofed she could take down, both unsuspecting and quick. Seth looked to the sky, bright and clear she'd have no trouble with the weather, the parched ground had already lapped up all the excess water from the few days before.

Breaking into a quiet run the lioness prowled looking for her next meal. Sethunya was a skilled huntress and had always had a knack for hunting ever since she was little...

Seth paused suddenly poised her ears rose and swiveled searching for the location of the sound. hoof beats, perfect the lioness leaping onto the nearest rock gracefully and stood atop it looking for the source a herd of antelope was passing not to far from where she was, if she hurried she could catch them easily, Seth tested the wind, it was in her favour too, she grinned and leaping off the rock and heading for the herd.

The steps of the male were slow as he made his way from his little hole in the earth, not so much out of hunger than unhappiness. He had been in these lands too long already. It was wet. It was muddy. It was full of wild dogs and hyenas. Harith wasn't too impressed with the competition for food apart from his own litter of brothers. More than once he had lost a meal to a hyena or leopard or something else. So many times, he was losing track of all the different species he was encountering.

At the same time, he could understand why this was an important experience. It certainly was showing him how good he had it back home. Or had, was a better word. When he returned-if he returned-back to the pride, he wouldn't be joining his father, Ilyas's, den anymore. Now was the time to make his own family den. With his own Banu.

If he could just find one. That in itself had been very unfruitful. Harith couldn't be attractive or flirty even if his life depended on it. Which, in a way, it did. He dared not return without at least one female in tow.

The adolescent gave a yawn as the sound of running approached his ears. Looking up, he spied the herd of herbivores before the sound of paws made him look the other way. With a rather unmanly squeak, Harith attempted to get out of the way of the oncoming lioness.

Sethunya sidestepped the adolescent and kept on running she had to catch up to that herd, she held back a laugh at the boy's squeak as she past. That was adorable, not a very masculine lion yet. She'd see how much potential he had, she slid to a stop "Hey, You're going to miss the hunt if you don't come now." she called back to the adolescent in a partial challenge with a flick of her tail she was off running again.

She slowed when she neared the antelope they had paused for a moment to let their younger and elder members rest. She prowled near the edge looking for a suitable target, she could try for a more lively one but.. she eyed one with a limp in its leg. That one would do just fine, slowly carefully she made her way toward it prepping her self to pounce, her tail flicked back and forth in anticipation, eyes focused only on her target.

The wind changed then and all the antelope raised their heads alerted to her presence, Drat! Seth's initial pounce failed as the antelope scattered she lost sight of her prey for only a moment before spotting it again and gave chase. Seth brought the wounded beast down in a flash of tooth and claw, Seth held fast to the Antelope till it stopped moving clawing at it's neck.

"Not to bad if I do say so myself." she said proudly looking to see if the other lion managed to catch something, or if he even followed.

Without realizing what he was doing, Harith dropped down to the ground with his paws over his head, waiting for the impact of the paws on his head. When they didn't come, he opened one eye timidly. There was nothing before him but the vastness of the roguelands. It had gone back to being quieter with just the distance sounds of activity. Raising his head, he noticed the lioness had disappeared. For a moment, he cursed his bad luck, letting out a sigh as a bird called above him.

Not that he expected this to be that easy. The young male was realizing one of his mistakes in this quest: He didn't even know how to talk to a lioness in that way. He was understanding this even more as the white lady stood over her kill. By now, the male was sitting, having decided to watch her in action and wait to see if she would return. Partly to attempt to woo her and partly to see if she would share. Harith wasn't one for stealing or begging. If he came out of this with nothing, he would go back to stalking small mammals in the hopes they didn't have a home nearby to duck into.

Watching her, the male's mind went through different ways to start a conversation. It would be tactless to just be out with his quest and see if she would be willing to follow. Nor would he force her to. It might take longer, but Harith preferred to take a lioness back with him who wanted to go back with him.

Should he go up to her? Should he wait for her to come to him? Should he carry on and find someone else? The poor male wasn't even familiar enough with the hunt to know what was proper etiquette here. Had he been meant to follow? Was it the wise choice to stay here and not get in the way.

Despite his questions, he decided that last one was the correct answer. His hunting skills were that of a newborn cub. He'd just get in the way.

All the while his mind was racing, the four feet stayed planted where they were, his blue eyes glazing over with his thoughts.
