((is late in posting this whaaat))
Bifröst didn't usually roam much when she was out of the house powered up. In fact, she tended to stay rather close to home, in her neighbourhood. Partly out of fear, she suspected, that she'd get lost until sunrise, or encounter those people from the Surrounding with their large dragon again. She usually kept to parks and the rooftop of her own house (which probably wasn't the best idea in the world).
Tonight however, she found herself closer to downtown. She was spending the night with her grandmother out of a need to escape her tense home, and it gave her a whole new area to explore.
Patrol? Yeah, like that ever came across her mind.
To her, it was very large roleplay world she went out into every night. She made up her own stories in her head, and when and if she did encounter those monsters (which she hadn't, so far) she'd battle 'em back. She'd found no such monsters tonight, and just kept to walking through the quiet streets, heels clicking silently. She had no destination in mind, simply wandering and making an note of how far she was going.
So she could make it home, of course.

Celsus had been watching Bifröst for a few moments now, wondering when she would sense his presence. He himself had been out roaming the streets, eyes wary for the appearance of anything...suspicious, but so far the night had been rather quiet.
At least until he'd felt that strange tingling sensation in his mind.
Spidey senses, go!
It would take a bit of getting used to; he hadn't ever known what it was like to feel the power signature of someone else radiating into him, but now that he had experienced it once, it seemed as if he would never be able to get rid of it. As a civilian he did not pick them up, but when he was here, as Celsus...well, that was a different story.
Bifröst was making her way silently through the streets, and Celsus, sitting on a low brick wall a short ways away, unfurled his legs as she approached where he was perched, half in shadows.
"Evening, Bifröst," he said cheerfully, stepping out of the darkness and lifting a hand in greeting.

She paused as the blip in power came across her senses, lilac eyes glancing out at its location. She was wary until she heard his voice and saw the wave. "Evening, Celsus. Out wandering the streets too?" she asked him. Bifrost walked over and leaned against the wall he was next to, brushing her hood back from her head. She returned the gesture of greeting.
She liked Celsus; he might have been overzeolous about meeting everyone one of them in the middle of a boss battle, but he did seem to know sort of what was going on. Plus he was kind and very helpful. A good friend, one she never wanted to be without.
"I don't know if I'll ever get used to the Sense of Omnipresent Energy feeling," she said off handedly after a moment.

He grinned at her, clearly amused. "I'm always wandering," Fritz answered her, somewhat cryptically, and hopped off of the wall he'd been perched on, folding his arms across his chest.
Out of all of the pages he'd met so far, Bifröst was the one he found to be more strong minded, which was rather nice. She most definitely had a good head on her shoulders; intelligent, quick thinking, and confident, all of which were traits that were rather nice - she was someone that Celsus felt he could get along well with.
One dark red eyebrow rose. "You mean the whole 'spidey sense' thing?" he asked with a laugh, tilting his head to the side as he, too, leaned against the wall he'd just been sitting on. "Yeah, I'm not so sure how long it'll take me to not wonder what the bloody hell's going on with me. It's a strange feeling, that's for sure."
His hand reached for the coin in his pocket, absently twisting it through his fingers as he lapsed into a thoughtful silence. After a moment he turned his head, regarding Bifröst with a vaguely curious expression.
"How are you finding your knighthood to be so far?"

She smiled at Celsus, lilac eyes watching him for a time. Her grandmother would like him, if they ever met. He was cheerful, and kind, along with a good sense of duty. It was a good combination, a perfect one in her grandmother's eyes.
"..'spidey sense'... That's a good way to describe it." She watched him play with his coin, much like in a way she would play with her rings. Bifröst chuckled softly to herself as she found herself spinning her rings without thought. At least she wasn't the only one doing it.
"My knighthood? A'right I suppose. I don't stray too far from home usually; my mom pitches a huge fit if I'm not home when she wakes up. I haven't returned to the Surrounding since we came back," she said, glancing up at the sky for a moment. There was a far off look in her eyes for a moment, almost of a longing. Part of her did want to go back, but she couldn't bring herself to. Not right now.
Not with her home in shambles as it was.

"Yeah, well," said Celsus with a small laugh, turning to look at the other page. Her fingers were idly twisting the interlocked rings on her hands, similar to what he was doing with his own coin - a quirk that was most likely found among most of the new knights. "I found that there isn't really a better way to describe that tingly sensation I get when there's a power signature about."
Something about Bifröst's tone of voice caught his ear; Celsus turned towards the other, his brows drawing together. He did not know if asking would be prying; there was a distant look about her face as though she were not thinking of what they were talking about now, but rather something else entirely.
"Bifröst?" he asked her quietly, pushing himself away from the wall and stepping towards her, looking at her cautiously. "Are you..."
He trailed off, feeling rather intrusive.
"Forgive me," he said. "I did not mean to pry."

She knew what he asked and for a moment she was quiet, a million emotions flickering through her eyes. Bifröst let out a small sigh and shook her head.
"It's alright, Celsus. My mother... I am not her daughter, in her eyes. I don't remember much from before I was nine, but it was then that 'her' daughter vanished, and I took her place. She... was not kind when I walked down the stairs the night I returned..." she trailed off, a hand coming up to brush her cheek. The bruise had long faded, but she could still feel the sharp heat of her mother's hand when it connected with her face.
Bifröst gave a little shrug and smiled at Celsus, even if it didn't quite reach her eyes. "I'm used to it; it's been like this for years, and I am who I am now. It doesn't really matter to me who I supposedly used to be. I'm.... me, you know?" she said to him, tilting her head to the side with that same smile. Her eyes betrayed her emotions but she kept a smile on her face.
There wasn't any need to worry him. Like she said, she'd been dealing with her mother for years. Now, though, that she knew what her father truly thought of her, it would be harder. But she always had Grandmother, always.
And that in of it self kept her going.

He now felt absurdly guilty for prying.
And rather stupid.
But Celsus listened quietly, not saying a word as Bifröst spoke. Her voice was calm and clear, and she seemed very strong, but there was a hint of unsteadiness to her tone that belayed the confidence. He had never had that sort of unhappiness in his own life - sadness, of course, but never anything such as what the other page was referring to.
"I am...sorry," he said quietly, wondering if it would be too forward to reach out and squeeze her hand. As it was, he didn't, instead just linking his fingers together against the small of his back, refraining from doing anything that might make her uncomfortable.
"That's true," replied Celsus, a small smile touching his lips. "That is very true. You are who you are, and nothing anybody says or does can change that.
"Besides," he went on, letting his shoulders rise and fall in a small shrug. "I like you the way you are. Who cares what others believe?"

She just shook her head again and moved closer to him, smiling. "It's alright... I didn't expect anything else from her really," she said to him, lilac eyes shining a bit in the lamp light. A blush flushed her cheeks at his last statement and she let out a small little shy giggle. Bifröst pulled at her fingers for a moment.
She stood on her toes suddenly and nuzzled his cheek with hers, in that way she did. She pulled back and smiled, threading her fingers together in front of her.
"Thank you Celsus..." said the Page. She smiled at him for a little while longer before changing the subject, as though what she'd just done was completely natural to her. And it was, technically. She nuzzled most people she liked, really.
"Have you been back to the Surrounding since the battle?"

"Having no expectations can be just as painful as having expectations broken," said Celsus gently. "Doesn't mean we can't do what we can to make life a bit easier any way we can."
Bifröst's face was tinged pink, and before he knew it, she had stepped up to him, her nose against his cheek. He could feel her breath on his skin as she nuzzled his face, and for a moment Celsus just stood there frozen for a moment, attempting to figure out what she was doing, exactly.
But then she stepped back, her expression grateful, and Celsus relaxed. He reached out a hand and affectionately tugged on a strand of her pale hair, letting his hand rest against her head briefly.
"I think you'll be a good friend, don't you think?" he said, and winked, dropping his hand to link his fingers behind his back again. The smile on his face was still there when he nodded affirmation to Bifröst, reaching up a hand to tug absently at one of his ears.
"Once. I went to find my signet ring. What about you?"

"Your signet ring...? And no. Mother's been watching like a hawk. I want to go back soon though... for all the dying and being brought back and fighting, the Surrounding is very pretty," she said, looking up again. She missed it, really. It had been the place her life ended, began anew, and changed, and it seemed to call to her at times.
She'd dream of never ending roads of rainbows and temples and people, and a gigantic sky of night and stars. She truly wanted to go back, but for now, she had to stay grounded. Otherwise, her mother was going to pitch a fit again. Bifröst wasn't of age to work, and had little money to her name. At least she had Grandmother's for a place to stay.
But how long would that last before Grandmother started to think she was crazy too...
"Where did you find your ring?"

Celsus nodded and held out his hand to show Bifröst the small golden ring on his right ring finger. "This," he said, by way of explanation. "I haven't quite figured out what it does, but I found it in my own outpost - er, well, my wonder, I suppose. With my ancestor. It was a rather enlightening experience, I might add. Very interesting."
He pushed his hair away from his face and offered what he hoped was a kind smile to his friend. Reaching out, he slung his arm around Bifröst's shoulders and hugged her close to him.
"We knights have to stick together, don't we?" he said, and smiled. "We've got this covered. I'll have your back, and you'll have mine. Savvy?"

Bifrost looked at the ring and made a little o with her face for a moment. She listened intently. "I see! Well that will be an interesting experiance, I'm sure." She gave him a smile, one that reached her eyes for a moment.
He pulled her close and the younger Page felt her cheeks heat for a moment, and also mild confusion for a moment. She giggled as he spoke and nodded looking up at him. "Mm I do believe so. Savvy indeed!" She gave him a beaming smile and glanced at the sky for a moment.
"Ah, I should probably head home... Grandmother will start to worry if I'm not in bed when she wakes up," she said to him. She nuzzled his cheek, standing on her tiptoes, and pulled away from him to give him another smile. "I'll see you around, mm?"
