A large, dark figure was perched on a bare tree just above the adolescent lion. Her flaming eyes watched the "cub" with a bitter sneer. The boy had taken after his ridiculous father, always looking for new ways to risk his young life. Aotpo despised the both of them, but Vuxta depended on her to be the eyes she was missing.
At this height, Aotpo had noticed the lioness in the distance far before Vaikko had. The vulture crackled and mumbled, as if attempting to warn the young lion, but she figured it was useless. Knowing Vaikko, he'd be thrilled to meet a stranger. And even more thrilled if that encounter had turned violent.
Vaikko had wandered away from his sedentary family in hopes of finding something fun to do. Or even better, something thrilling. Perhaps he'd find a cliff to slide down, or a bull elephant to tease. The young lion flashed a toothy grin at the exciting thoughts. It didn't matter to him that his mom's vulture was keep a sharp eye on him. He'd do what he want! He was practically an adult, anyway!
As Vaikko's green eyes scanned the horizon, he finally noticed the female at a distance. With a grin, Vaikko bounced happily towards her, his tail in the air and his ears erect. Finally, someone new to interact with! "Heya!" He said, pausing at arm's length from the lioness. "What are you doing here? Are ya lost, or somethin'?"
