The fall air was settling in comfortably. It skimmed through the land like a fish would through water. It held a texture that was crisp, and refreshing, giving hint and warning to what was soon to follow behind it. Winter. But for now, the thrills and traits of fall were well being enjoyed. Especially by a little filly. Whiny's and neigh's of excitement could be heard to those nearby, even echoing into the surrounding forests on either side of a long, babbling stream. She galloped about, hooves lifting high and placing down hard to make as big of splashes as she could. What a magnificent sound, and reaction! Giggling happily, she pranced more daintily in it, making tiny 'splish-splosh' sounds instead, causing another round of laughter to roll out. This was simply far too fun! But her attention was deterred suddenly, pausing her steps, one front hoof lifted, as she saw something further down the stream leap up, and back down into the water. "What was that?!" she breathed to herself, ears perked and swiveled forward in attention. Her shameless curiosity didn't mind in leading her forward, creeping carefully, so as not to frighten the strange creature away. Thankfully, that wouldn't be too big a problem... as another leaped out even closer to her. Jumping a little in surprise, the filly was delighted to find that it was fish! They were putting on quite the acrobatic show! Brimming with excitement, she bounded further along the rushing water, eyes alight and sparkling as she looked this way and that at the water dwellers leaping beautifully from the crystal blue liquid.

Fall was the perfect season for a young kalona foal to be out and about. It was the seasons that all of the animals were fattening themselves up for the unforgiving months that were soon to follow. Winter would be dark and difficult for those that feasted on plants alone. For the strong kalona and other meat eaters, however, they would have their fill of blood no matter what. Oh yes, the traits of fall were being enjoyed by all creatures this evening, even a young kalona colt. It wasn't like Ahriman to be out while the sun's harsh, blinding rays beat down on the orange, yellow, and brown land below. He was used to the soft light of the moon. Because of this, his dark eyes squinted as they attempted to adjust to the blinding light. Now, the colt had plans to retrieve a plump rabbit for himself. His thirst for blood was taunting him to the point that he could not sleep. He paced near his mother's sleeping body for a moment before he darted off to find something worthy of his attention.
The sudden movement in the bushes caught the colt's attention first. His head lowered and his steps were carefully planned so that he did not disturb the leaves that lay beneath the trees they fell from. A rabbit lay hidden in the bush, breathing heavily as its eyes darted this way and that. Tut, tut. How unfortunate that this little guy had to be in the right place at the right time for the kalona colt. In one swift movement, the colt lashed out and snatched the rabbit up by its neck. His thirst was now quenched as the bright red blood spilled down his maw. Suddenly, the colt's attention was grasped by the sound of... laughter? Slowly, his head tilted as he stepped closer to the sound. It wasn't his mother's, no. It was far too sweet and innocent to be hers...
