If anyone so much as passed by the doe, they would quickly notice how... undeniably pouty she seemed. Her ears were pricked back, her eyes narrowed, face red, lips puckered. She was sitting on the soft grass that flecked here and there under a large tree. Roots were visible as they grew almost like step ladders, or almost chairs, around the trunk of the tree. She could have easily settled on one, but instead she had her legs tucked up against her body, arms wrapped around those.
Just... Augh! She was so frustrated, did not really know what to do... Heaving a heavy Sigh, wren shuffled a little more then. Now and then she would see a student or two pass, them giving her curious looks but nothing more. She was fine with this, she needed time to ponder this.
A familiar face was approaching, but her face was buried within her lap now. So she would not notice the Reaper until he was closer.

Sparrow was having a conundrum and it was making him very, very frustrated.
And it clearly involved a certain wide-eyed doe with dark hair.
The more time he spent with Wren, the more time he wanted to spend with Wren. This was not entirely unusual - Sparrow enjoyed the company of many people, from Jove, to LW, to Coralie (sort of), and the rest of his friends here at Amityville (despite just how woefully small that list was) - but with Wren it felt...
...well, different somehow. And he could not quite put into words just why that was.
She was naive; perhaps that was it. Her undeniable, wholehearted innocence that was both unusual and endearing simultaneously. Sparrow had never met anyone with quite a personality like Wren's before; she was not someone who believed what she believed, her heart large and her mind strong. Since meeting her, she'd been nothing but docile and sweet - if not a little skittish, and perhaps slightly shy at times. But the shyness had been easily overcome the longer they had spent time together, and Sparrow had begun to grow rapidly more fond of their meetings.
This was ridiculous. He was not some starry eyed teenager (except for the teenager part). Sparrow Heartreed was a person completely capable of handling himself, even with ghouls that seemed to have a habit of somehow throwing him completely off his game.
He decided to just give it all up and go for a walk, ignoring everything except for the scent of rain in the air and the soft breeze that tickled his cheeks.
And his plan would have been foolproof, were it not for the pale-skinned young woman sitting at the base of a tree just outside of the Reaper dorm.
Sparrow stared at her. Then he raised a gloved hand, pinching the bridge of his nose between his fingers.
She's just a ghoul. That's it. Just another ghoul.
Squaring his shoulders, he stepped over to her and crouched down beside Wren, arms wrapped around his knees.
"Hello little bird," he said, offering her a smile, which flickered slightly when he saw her distraught expression. "What's wrong?"

Being in a sitting position, the sudden appearance of the boil was enough to make her flail... and fall backwards. Pretty much a rather embarrassing response if she had any right to say so. Face rosey, she realized her knee's were still up.. and having a short skirt, lets just say she lowered her legs so they two were flat a second later.
While granter her response was rather... flashy, had it been anyone else she would have picked herself up and ran away rather abruptly. Instead, she turned her head slightly so she was looking at the reaper whom had soon become someone really close to her. She did not understand what she was feeling really towards the boil.
They had known each other for a while, and while she felt close to him as you would a friend, she felt a little bit...more for him. She had heard the term 'best' friend before... is this what this was? She never had one before...
Heaving a huge sigh, she wiped away her thoughts and paid attention to the present predicament. "Should i call you big bird then?" She gave a smirk... amused at her own dull wit.
Without waiting for a response, she lifted her right arm and pointed up, into the depths of the tree... where two identical looking ghostly kidgets peered back at the two of them down below. "That... is the problem."

"Woah - !"
He hadn't expected her to actually fall over. Sparrow's hand automatically shot out to grab Wren's wrist as she flailed, apparently startled by his sudden appearance. Most unfortunately for the reaper, however, his fingers barely grazed her skin, and the ghoul toppled backwards, her skirt riding -
Sparrow very, very hastily turned away. His face, which had already been a rather pale red, suddenly flamed scarlet, and he kept his eyes determinedly away from the doe until she righted herself, fidgeting with her clothing. Once he was certain she was settled, he turned back, incredibly grateful that he had only caught the barest flash of...er...well. Enough.
Focus focus focus.
"What's wrong?" he asked her again, shifting positions so that he was sitting beside her. A small laugh escaped his throat. "'Big Bird?'" he repeated, amused. "I'm not entirely sure that's very flattering."
Sparrow reached out a hand, gently poking the tip of Wren's nose with one gloved finger. "You're 'little bird' because you're very cute and little."
He winked, then followed the ghoul's gaze towards the trees. Brows furrowing, he cast a bemused look back at his friend.
"What are those?" he asked.

"Well you are taller..." She mused, making a fake attempt to bite at the finger, purposefully missing when he drew his finger away. Clearly she was teasing, though she was uncertain as to why she was being so playful with the boil... friends, clearly friends. She held a soft smile for a moment at him, before looking back up at the tree once more. The smile slipped at the corners of her mouth. "You'll just be my Sparrow, then."
Her arm still lifted... she made a strange clicking noise with her tongue. As if being summoned, one of the two birds gave a sort of veet! noise, and took off the branch. Veering around, ducking and bowing, the ghostly form of the kidget soon came into view.... closer... closer. Wren balled her hand in to a fist, a moment before the kidget landed right on her hand. Its paw like toes separated to grasp, a mix of owl and cat clearly.
"They... follow me around. I know not why." Lowering her hand, she stroked a hand down the back of the creature.

"Just because I'm taller doesn't mean I'm necessarily big," he replied, letting his finger drift alongside her cheek teasingly for a moment, dodging the playful n** she aimed for it. It was a silly little game, one that made him smile.
"You'll just be my Sparrow, then."
His hand jerked abruptly, heart clattering unexpectedly loudly and fast.
...what?
Sparrow's brain was suddenly on overdrive, dropping his arm. He attempted to studiously ignore the way his chest felt strangely tight, the way he was suddenly having trouble concentrating properly.
Calm down. She didn't mean it like that. You know she didn't. She's just teasing you, she's being her normal self. And besides, you don't like her like that anyway. She's just another ghoul - she's just a friend. A good friend.
His face felt as though it were burning. Sparrow quickly turned his attention to the little creatures again, watching as one of them came fluttering towards her, resting against Wren's fist. Grateful for the change in conversation, he reached out a hand, carefully touching his gloved fingertips to the creature's neck.
"They're very cute," he admitted, with a small laugh. "They must sense that you're a little bit like them."

"I thought that too. I even flew with them a little..."She continued on, his thoughts unknown to her. Though she herself had her own mental war raging on, even if it was steadily a losing one.
Even if she wanted to admit it or not, he was truly becoming her flightless sparrow. She was steadily feeling drawn to him, wanting to be around him. Lean on him, talk with him. She was becoming very dependent on the boil, and that alone should have scared her. It did not though.
Being a herd monster she was used to leaning on others, and letting them lean on her when she needed it too. They pooled strengths and became one cohesive unit.
What scared her the most was... Sparrow was starting to feel like something different, something more than just a companion.
Moving her hand to the side, she made a few more clicking noises... and the second Kidget came flying down. In a whirr of fur and feathers, her other fist was soon occupied. "Though all we truly have in common is flight."
The two catbirds looked back and forth with each other... before one of them, the first one, decided it wanted a new perch and hopped up on to Sparrows shoulder.
It seemed he was not her wingless sparrow after all, not anymore at least. She couldn't help but giggle at the thought. "Seems she likes you."

"You make me wish I could fly," Sparrow said, smiling a little wistfully. "I'm afraid, however, that contrary to my winged name, I lack the proper accessories for flight."
His eyes flickered towards Wren's wings, tilting his head as he reached out hesitantly, fingers gently brushing along the soft downy feathers. They felt slightly rough against his skin, and after a moment he dropped his hand, feeling as though he were doing something too intimate, too familiar.
There was a clicking noise, and one of the little creatures came fluttering over to him, landing noiselessly on his shoulder. Face flushed, feeling as though he were delving too deep into something, Sparrow lifted his hand, rubbing its stomach. It made a clicking noise of its own, and purred, pressing its head against his face.
"It looks like he does too," he answered, laughing lightly. The sound must have startled the creature, however, for it made a surprised noise and leapt away, flapping its wings. Sparrow made a grab for it, attempting to sooth it, but the movement was unexpected, and he overbalanced. With a half-strangled cry, he toppled forward, arms flailing.
The little creature hopped onto the grass, folding its wings demurely against its back as if it had done nothing.
Sparrow, on the other hand, was attempting to keep his heart from leaping out of his chest, since he'd fallen, unintentionally, right on top of Wren and was now lying half across her, his face mere inches from her own.
Time seemed to slow down. He stared down, his throat feeling suddenly dry. Every repetition of she's just another ghoul in his mind seemed to fade away, dissipate into nothingness. Slowly his hand moved lifting to brush his fingers gently down the side of her face, pushing a few stray strands of hair away.
She's not just another ghoul.
Then, without really thinking about what he was doing, Sparrow ducked his head and kissed her.

Wren was about to comment about not being able to fly. Though hot on her mind, it did not reach her lips. She had to think first before speaking in English... and that was her downfall in to silence.
Of, downfall into the plush grass so it seemed.
Her own Kidget took off with a startled Veet!, flying around to land somewhere near its other compadre. Ruffled feathers were fluffed up at the reaper, but Wrens attentions were more set on the current situation than anything else.
It happened so quickly from her perspective. She had not even the time to react to the fall or the fact that Sparrow was so close, literally on top of her. The only thing that did seem to set in was the familiar blush that was always there when he was around. It was if her body knew how to react, but her mind was coming in last place at the race.
Before she knew it even... he had pressed his lips to her own. It was a feeling that she had never felt before, something that her parents did all the time and yet it was foreign to her. All the while, she did not feel the sudden urge to run. It was like the boil had earned his right to be there, to do this. If sparrow had expected a immediate reaction, well.. it probably was not the one he was expecting.
She grew stiff as a board.
As he pulled back though... something inside of her snapped. Something that did not want this to stop, she had been searching for a wording to how she felt about him. It had evaded the ghoul for some time, but as she looked up at him and in to his eyes she realized what that word was. It had been on the tip of her tongue now for what felt like ages, so simple and yet so complex in meaning... so she let it spew over. "Mine." She whispered, grabbing the collar to his shirt... she pulled him back down this time and kissed him back.

The first moment his lips touched hers it was like an electric spark that shivered down his spine, butterflies exploding in his stomach. It was a sensation Sparrow had never felt before, not once, and it was completely and utterly unfamiliar.
But perfect; so very, very perfect.
It was not a long kiss; in fact, it was very brief, merely a small press of his lips against Wren's, almost a test to see how she react. And she didn't - at least, at first. Sparrow could almost feel her freeze beneath him, and when he pulled back, opening his eyes a fraction to look down at her through lowered lashes, he could see the wide-eyed, paralyzed expression.
His heart sank. She didn't like it, she didn't want it.
"I'm sor - " he started to say, beginning to draw back, but Wren's slender fingers clenched in the collar of his shirt and the next thing he knew, she had pulled him back down, the word "Mine" breathed out just as she kissed him.
More butterflies exploded, his eyes flying open in complete and utter shock. He had not expected this in the slightest, had thought she would resist, but this...Sparrow's arms slid beneath her, wrapping tightly around Wren's small waist, and he pulled her against his chest, wanting to hold her forever. He let his eyes fall shut again, quickly losing himself in Wren's kiss.
She tasted like sweetness and sunlight - warm and perfect.
This time, when he pulled back, it was reluctantly done and he did not go far. Sparrow rested his forehead against hers, one hand lifting to trail his fingers down the side of Wren's face, drifting over her neck.
"Yours?" he said quietly, tilting her chin up so that he could see into her eyes. Ducking his head, he very lightly kissed her again, barely there, before smiling, his lips curving upwards against hers.
"All yours. And you are mine."

The ghoul sighed contently, wrapping her arms around the reaper too as he also stalked claim. Smiling around the last chaste kiss, she lifted her head up and gave him the familiar greeting he should be all but used to now. Rubbing her face against his, she gave a small laugh that could be seen as a giggle. "I'll hold you to that." She whispered into his ear.
Thing is.. she was still really unsure what this game of possession meant. Were they now boilfriend and ghoulfriend? Was this... some sort of master thing!? A puzzled look dawned on her face for a moment... but it was gone by the time she drew back from nuzzling.
Using her arms, she gathered some momentum so instead of him laying on top of her, whichbtwheiskindaheavy, she flipped them until he was laying next to her on the grass. In which she proceeded to use him as a pillow.
"I'm not sorry." She added on at the end, leaning her head backwards so she could look at him upside down.

Sparrow felt his heart (idiotically) dance crazily in his chest, his eyes fluttering half shut as Wren pushed her face against his, rubbing her cheek sidelong with his. It was such a familiar gesture; warm and gentle, as was the quiet laughter that trembled through the peryton.
But then she was looking at him curiously, a slightly confused expression on her pale face, and Sparrow lifted his brows.
"What's wrong?" he asked her worriedly. "Wh - oof!"
Wren had pushed him sideways, and he was now lying beside her, rather than on half top of her - which was probably a good thing, considering he was a significant bit more heavy than she was, despite the fact that he had been propped up on his forearms above her. He put his arm around her shoulder, gathering her against him as she snuggled close, pressing her head against his chest as if it were a pillow.
A low laugh escaped his throat, rumbling through him. "Neither am I," Sparrow answered, and stroke Wren's hair gently. "I think...well, I know I've wanted to do that for a very long time."
He hesitated for a moment, then pushed on Wren's arm, forcing her to sit up a bit so he could look up at her face.
"Wren," said Sparrow, swallowing. He wasn't entirely certain how this was supposed to go. "I, er...would you..."
He stopped, flustered and feeling rather idiotic. After a moment of gathering himself together, he said, all in one, rushed breath
"Wouldyoubemyghoulfriend?"

(( HOLY s**t ITS ALMOST BEEN A MONTH OH GOD I SUCK IM SORRY ))
Giving out the slightest of squeaks the deerling let him push her so they were both in a sitting position. Her hair was tossed from being on the ground, and a twig that almost looked like she was growing a third antler was sticking up out of the mess...
But she couldnt be happier.
Still lost in that semi ohgodthiscantbereal state, she looked dreamingly, head tilted, towards Sparrow. Only when he called her name was she knocked out of her minds world and forced back down to the reality.
"Wha-?" She said at first, his words coming out in a rush, english being her second tongue it was not immediately apparent what he was trying to get across. Looking upwards, taking her time in her head to play the word jumble slowly.. it probably looked bad to Sparrow that she actually had to think about it. "Wou-would you b-be m-"
...
"OH!" She exclaimed, face now approaching shades that could be called 'candy apple' if anyone was bothering to look. The intensidy of the blush was also due to how long it took her to get it. So he...really liked her too?
Biting her lower lip, she flicked her golden eyes up so they met his, and nodded furiously.

[ PSH I STILL LOVE YOUUUU <33 ]
Sparrow resisted the very strong urge to laugh at Wren's hair, considering that it was all over the place. But he didn't find it strange; in fact, it was rather adorable, especially when combined with the the starstruck look on her face.
...the starstruck look directed at him. Sparrow felt a swooping sensation in his stomach.
At least until Wren's expression turned into a completely bemused one, and he had the sinking feeling she had no idea what he had just asked her. He debated taking it back quickly, before she could say no, but after a moment her face turned a shade of scarlet. She lifted her gaze to meet his, and Sparrow swallowed hard, blue eyes locking with her golden ones. His breath caught in his throat as he waited...
And there it was - a nod; and a very emphatic one. Sparrow felt relief soar in his veins.
Then he reached out, snaked a hand around the back of Wren's neck, and pulled her face towards his, pressing his lips to hers again in quick, hard kiss.
After a few moments, Sparrow pulled back, his forehead against hers, a smile on his face.
"I'm so happy," he whispered, then got to his feet, holding out his hand to help Wren up.
"Thank you."
