History: Clair is a woman who at first glance seems well, rather boring. She is kind, thinks of others first, can always be counted on to show up on time, volunteer for the jobs no one else wants and stay to help clean up. In other words, wholesome as home cooked bread. To top it off, at 28 she shows no signs of being interested in dating, teaches piano lessons to children and spends most of her free time volunteering at the local soup kitchen or puttering in her garden. Maybe some people are just born to be spinsters. Well she's a widow really. There was that unfortunate incident with her husband. Killed so young in an automobile accident. No one really talks about it much, least of all Clair...
At 24 Clair seemed to have it all. A loving husband, plans for a family and a beautiful new home. A little small, but big enough to start in. At 25 she received a call that ended the life she knew. At 28, she has been a widow for 3 years, living alone in a home just a little too big for one. She left town for a while, right after the accident. There were stories about her falling in with a bad crowd in NewYork or Vegas or something. But after a few months she was home again. And anyone could tell the stories were told out of meanness. It was almost as though Clair had decided to lock away every single negative emotion or impulse after her husband died. Clair could always be counted on to do the right thing. But it seems that's all she is interested in doing. It's too bad, really. It was no secret, how much she wanted a family.
