A little flower shop owned by the off island business monger couple, Joe and Mary Smith. Having heard that there was an island somewhere in the middle of nowhere in development, they rushed there and bought a bunch of building and opened various shops that were missing on the island. This is only one of them! Of course, they'll be more then willing to sell it back to anyone with a right prize.... and if whoever decided that they changed their mind and leave the island (or, most likely, die in a horrible death), they'll be more than happy to rebuy it for half the price! This is how they make their money. Until someone take over the ownership of this shop, they'll be happy to run it from the mainland, almost never coming on the island to see how it's going. The employees, NPC or not, are then free to work like always and customers to use their services.

It was winter. Not the greatest time to be on the hunt for flowers, but perhaps that was exactly why Rory was at the flower shop. He never would consider himself the kind of person to buy flowers -- it was much more fun looking for flowers around the island than just showing up at a store and buying some, but it was winter. There weren't really many flowers growing this time of the year. But that was all a part of his genius plan. There were no flowers in the dead of winter, the snow made sure of that. Maybe that was why so many people found winter depressing. But why should people wait for spring to enjoy a bit of flora? That's why this season's special exhibit was flowers. Let the people of Nirvani get away from the winter gloom and remind themselves of the upcoming spring.
Easier said than done, Rory mused as he stepped through the doors of the little flowershop and realized that he didn't know where to start. Flowers. Flowers were everywhere. He didn't know flowers. They were pretty, but kind of boring, and he preferred more exotic, bizarre plants. Like carnivorous ones, or ones that let out foul odors. But really, he doubted a bunch of venus flytraps would attract many people. And so he poked about aimlessly for a moment or two, before slipping his hands into his coat pockets. He needed the assistance of a professional. "Hello... Does anyone work here?" he called, his voice disappearing into the numerous plants surrounding him. It made him think of a forest. A forest filled with flowers. Like Alice in Wonderland, though he wasn't small, and as far as he could tell, the flowers he saw were deaf, blind, and mute. Not much of a chance of musical shenanigans, then. How disappointing.

Usagi never found work at the flower shop to be particularly exciting. It actually wouldn't be too bad if the place got more customers, but unfortunately the shop usually wasn't very busy. What they needed was a strange and interesting new plant to put in the window! That always attracted customers, and it would be even better if her love interest found it and named it after her. Usagi Two they would call it. Of course, there were two problems with this idea the first being that Usagi did not have a love interest, and next was the fact that strange and interesting plants tended to have a craving for human blood. It looked like that plan wasn't going to work.
As Usagi continued to ponder ideas to attract customers she heard a voice in the shop. Maybe they wouldn't need the man eating plant after all. She got up from her seat in the back of the shop to approach the man who had called out just a moment ago. "Welcome, do you need help with anything?" she asked. Being professional was so boring, but it had to be done.

Ah hah! So there was someone there! Rory paused from examining the leaves of a potted plant (for a moment, he wasn't sure if it was real or not) and turned to look at Usagi. "Ah ha! Yes!" he replied cheerily, grinning at the woman who appeared. She was cute, wasn't she? Seemed like the perfect type to work in a flower shop! "I'm in need of some expertise. Do you mind if I ask some questions? It didn't matter even if she did, he'd ask anyway! "I'm looking for something spring-y. Not springy, as in bouncy," he mimicked a spring with his hands, "but spring-like. Though, if you have any plants with a bouncy quality, I'd be interested in seeing those two." He let out a lighthearted chuckle. Oh, plants were such fun! "Something bright and pretty, with a fresh feeling. Does that make sense?" He looked at Usagi expectantly. He often got so excited about his ideas he went off in his own direction and forgot to adjust to the pace of those around him. In the meantime, it would be best to let her have a chance to reply. Unless he was paying attention, he could go on and on for hours without even noticing how long he had been talking. That was part of the reason he liked having forceful friends. They had no problem stepping in when he was going too long, and forcing him to stop. But he was an adult now, he had to keep track of that sort of thing himself. And so he flashed Usagi a rather sheepish smile as he waited for the appropriate time to launch back into his rambling.

She nodded her head as she listened to the man speak, and compiled a list of criteria in her head. Something spring-like, bright, pretty, fresh feeling, and maybe bouncy. She couldn't really think of anything bouncy but she would be able to find something to match everything else. She nodded again, "That makes sense," she answered him. She thought for a moment, "Is there any specific occasion you need the flowers for?" she asked him, "Oh,and any specific colors or anything?" she added. Those were important questions to ask, after all certain occasions called for certain types of plants and flowers and it was always helpful to know what colors the customer was looking for. Those kind of things helped narrow down the search for plants and made her job so much easier.

Rory grinned and exhaled in relief. Good! She understood! Believe it or not, he often had to rephrase himself when expressing his thoughts. He wasn't very good at translating them to layman's terms. "Great!" he patted her on her shoulder, he was so pleased. She asked good questions, too! "Not an occasion per se..." he began thoughtfully, glancing up at the ceiling. "I own the museum. You know the museum, right? Of course you do!" He paused to laugh heartily. "I'm looking to make a special exhibit. Picture this -- spring, in the middle of winter! It's a good idea, right? Now I just need the flowers!" This was his best idea so far, he was sure this lovely woman would agree. He depended on her, the fate of his museum depended on her pretty young shoulders! ...Or something. Well, that was probably too dramatic. But it was true that without Usagi's guidance, his chances of failing would increase by a lot. "So, when you imagine spring, what do you picture?" Rory continued, looking at her with extreme interest. She was a professional, she had a much more comprehensive knowledge of varieties of plants than he did. This was a good learning experience for him.

~New Day~ It had been a long time since Benedek had actually left his home in the woods for anything outside of work – and, even then, he ended up at a flower shop of all things. His prevalent scowl was now directed at himself for his lack of creativity – which no one could blame – or would dare to – nowadays anyway. But, unlike how he viewed the rest of the town, he couldn't find himself really hating the flowers he saw from outside – he had grown used to such foliage during his years of work on the Sonata Mansion's gardens. Thinking of which.. He guessed he could go take a look at the seeds or potted plants they had here – maybe something would replace those godawful daffodils that someone thought would be a good idea every-freaking-where. They were almost like weeds on the damned Sonata grounds and any excuse to uproot half of them to plant something better was an amazing idea to Benedek. If it irritated the little princess who ordered them as a toddler, well, that would only give him further justification to do it. With a goal in mind, he opened the door to the flower shop and looked around, eying the flowers critically as he waited for someone to give him some service.

It was another boring day at the flower shop, but at least that meant lazing around most of the day without doing too much work. Usagi still thought they needed a strange and interesting new plant but it seemed like that wasn't going to be happening anytime soon and she had about given up on the idea. She looked up as she heard the door to the shop and quickly offered a greeting to the customer, "Hello, welcome to Flowers R' Us. How may I help you?" Greeting like that always sounded so rehearsed and professional to her, but it was probably better than whatever kind of greeting she would come up with on her own. After all, being weird wasn't suitable for the workplace and so the usual greeting stuck.

Benedek turned at the sound of a feminine voice from his left, turning himself completely to look at the woman. He hadn't seen her around.. ever, but Benedek was fairly unassociated with the majority of the town. It just meant the Sonatas didn't care much for her and she hadn't been insane enough to attempt to enter the premises. Nothing big. But, it was annoying that he didn't know a name outside of 'that dark-haired girl'. Which brought him to another point – her dark hair. He didn't like that at all. It reminded him of her and being reminded of her was never a good thing. He snorted and rolled his eyes at her exaggeratedly, “'Help'? As if you could help me. What do you know about flowers, eh?” It was an odd accusation, but, eh, Benedek didn't have much to go off of with her. She hadn't said much outside of the basic and, really, he did want some help, so a part of him toned down his usual aggressiveness in hopes it wouldn't scare her off immediately. Part of that was to look away towards the flowers, wondering on how exactly he should inquire about them and coming up with the best response he could with his usual mindset. “Do you even know what that is?” He nearly snapped out as he pointed towards a cluster of red flowers.

Usagi's cheery disposition quickly faded at the man's accusation, and it was clear that his statement had caught her off guard. She had dealt with rude customers multiple times but nothing quite like this before. "Well, I um, I don't know as much as I'd like to but..." she admitted as she looked to the ground. It didn't take long for her to realize how stupid it was to actually admit something like that to a customer, but in her defense she was just an assistant here. Still, that probably wasn't a very good excuse. She quickly looked up as the man inquired about some red flowers not too far off, now was her chance to redeem herself and show this man that she did indeed know something about flowers. She took another glance towards the flowers and then shifted her attention back to the man, "Those are snapdragons, red ones" she answered, as if the last part of her statement wasn't obvious.

All while Benedek waited for the employee to reply, he kept a keen watch on her eyes. It was one of the things he noticed most disliked of him – how he was so intent on the other's eyes – but, he hardly cared enough to fix that habit. There were much more obvious things he would have to fix first if he wanted to start caring about what made others comfortable. In any case, as the man watched the woman's eyes, he noticed with the oddest of feelings that she wasn't being insincere. Her eyes had averted, but it was apparent it was out of embarrassment rather than her trying to hide anything. Though it wasn't noticeable, his expression softened a hint and he looked over to the snapdragons she named. They weren't the prettiest of all the flowers, but the name was feisty and the color wasn't bad either. He looked at them in consideration silently for a second or two before looking back to her with an arched brow, “..Yes, they are.” He informed her she was correct, appearing almost impressed, going on in the same irritated tone as before, “You can garden, can't you?”

A triumphant look crossed Usagi's face as the man told her she was right, of course she was. After all, who could possibly doubt her knowledge? In reality, a majority of people could and would, but she wasn't concerned with that right now, she was too busy with having a mental celebration over her being correct. She suddenly dropped her new disposition at the man's next question, "Well..." she trailed off. "No, not really," she finally answered. "I mean I water the flowers around here and stuff but I've never really tried actually gardening or anything," she admitted. "I mainly just arrange flowers and sell them," she added. Perhaps now that he knew the nature of her job he'd stop asking all these questions but she kind of doubted it.
Was it bad that she didn't garden? She couldn't help but wonder, she began to contemplate starting her own little garden at home but she knew she wouldn't be able to keep up with it. A garden sounded like a lot of work, and Usagi was pretty lazy at home, most of the time she's just sit around and watch t.v or read a book. There was also the fact that she kind of had enough of flowers at work, she supposed she could grow her own vegetables or something but to her that seemed kind of pointless, buying food at the store was so much easier than growing your own. Thoughts continued to race through her head until she realized she had become sidetracked. She looked back up to the man, wondering if he had anything else to ask or say.

Aha! He found a flaw! Benedek rolled his eyes and looked at her as if he knew all along that she was a complete waste of his time. Which would really be more of a negative thing on him as he had been the on to initiate the conversation, but as if she would attempt to point that out – if she even noticed his look. She seemed to be lost in her own thoughts right then, busy hoping to be somewhere else or, at least, away from him, he suspected. While Benedek had every intention to leave so he could call and complain to her employer, he decided against it when he noted how disgruntled she must be to have to handle a customer like himself. He wasn't going to give her the relief of him leaving! Oh, no, she was going to have to deal with him all day. He would make sure of it! He uncrossed his arms as he decided on that and pointed to the flowers that had been their subject seconds ago, “I want all of those that you have alive right now and a packet of snapdragon seeds. Now.” He paused a beat after that order and then snorted, waving his arm at her as he snapped, “What are you standing there for? Now! How do you even manage to keep this job?!” Seriously! The island had way too lax of employers! Benedek still managing to be employed was proof enough of that.

It wasn't until she looked back at him that she noticed the sour look on his face, looks like that's what you get for telling the truth. Before she had the chance to say or do anything else the man was pointing in the direction of the same flowers he had inquired about just a moment ago, "You wan't all of those?" she asked a bit shocked. "Okay, I'm going," she said as she rushed over to where the snapdragons were located, grabbing the flower spot this specific cluster was in. She looked at another pot beside it, "Do you want just the red ones or all the colors?" she asked the man, she had guessed that he probably wanted them all but it was best to make sure, she didn't need to make extra work for herself if not. In the meantime, she went to grab another pot full of red snapdragons, and tried her best not to drop them as she went to bring them to her customer. She wasn't sure how the man planned on getting all these plants home but she didn't bother to ask, luckily there were only a few more pots of flowers left to grab. She needed to get those seeds for him too, though she didn't see why he couldn't do that himself. Finding and picking up a pack of seeds surely wasn't that hard.

The man almost yanked the first pot of flowers out of the employee's hands as she brought them over, but he didn't want to break them before he even got them in the ground, so, he tried his best to do it gently. He hadn't succeeded very well, but the effort was still prominent as he balanced that one and, soon, the second pot near-gingerly. Benedek wanted to roll his eyes at the woman yet again as she questioned what he said, but he didn't have time or the energy to put her down for being a moron. He was sure she was well aware of that by now, anyway, and at least she was getting him the damned flowers. “I said all of them, didn't I?” He barked at her in the end, moving over to the cashier's counter to set down the ones he already had before she handed him another one. He stood beside the counter as he waited for her to finish grabbing everything, watching her go about at her hectic pace in boredom. She looked to be about Benedek's age, now that he actually examined her – weird, he had pegged her to be young when he first saw her. She had a sort of youthful look to her, but he guessed that was just innocence. Probably had a nice, well-off family, didn't have to work a day in her life.. Then she picked up the job as a 'hobby'. He snorted to himself. It seemed about right with her type. “Hurry up! No wonder this place has no business with this service.” He snapped at her, finding new reason to hassle her further as he mused on her history. Annoying woman.
