Steam my good lady, is a digital distribution, digital rights management, multiplayer and communications platform developed by Valve Corporation. Its basically Xbox live or PSN for the PC. Although steam is not perfect by any means you can get some great deals. I got Company of heroes with all the expansion packs once for $7.50 i got assassin's creed 2 for that amount as well. They should throw me in jail. I'm stealing from these people. I don't even know how they manage to make money off this.

It's a place where one can purchase games on your PC. It's basically a marketplace for PC games. There are some free games there too http://store.steampowered.com/the service is free, as well as some games like Rusty Hearts, Alien Swarm and Team Fortress 2

Some good free games are Alien Swarm, Team Fortress 2, and some of the MMOs like Rusty Hearts and Global Agenda I am currently downloading DC universe. It's gonna take up a lot of space. I don't know if I am going to be able to run steam on my basic windows 7 laptop.
