The strangely colored leopardess drank in the dying sun's rays on the horizon. Soon the thrill of the hunt would begin, but right now she was just soaking in the beauty. They hadn't traveled together long but she had liked his company and he was very easy on the eyes.
"Lu?" She asked, turning to him, "I hope you don't mind me calling you that. Now that I think of it I never asked if you minded, I'm sorry." She added in a somewhat quieter tone.
The leopard walked over to the male, sitting close to him liking the heat he seemed to radiate. "Ready for some food?"

Lusala pulled his eyes away from his contemplation of the sunset. He'd been toying with the idea of trying to match Seth's markings with the rising or setting sun. It had been an interesting mental debate. When she said something his attention went to her and he was gratified to hear her be concerned about asking if 'Lu' was an acceptable nick name.
He was a large lion, he was smart, skilled and he could be quite intimidating if he felt the need. However no one could ever find him intimidating after hearing the leopardess call him 'Lu'. Still he found that he didn't mind all that much. "Well, I appreciate you asking now. I've already gotten used to you calling me that. And I am indeed ready for a meal. What are you in the mood for?"

She purred out her response, "Something fast and big. We could try wildebeest if you're up for something like that." The leopard was glad to know that he didn't mind it, even if she had called him it all the time from the moment they started this travel together. Though the femme could see he was contemplating something but she wasn't going to ask, to pry into someone else's life even a strangers was an all time low.
Getting up the beautiful colored girl looked at him straight in the eyes, trying to stare into his soul. "You'll be the main force in bring it down of course. I'll track it and help bleed it."

Lusala stood up and stretched working the kinks out of his body. "Of course I'm up for it. And it only makes sense that I'll be the main force. It's not a problem. You know I'm a good hunter." He shook his mane out of his eyes and said, "I think I saw a wildebeest herd yesterday up on the hill west of the watering hole."
Lusala started off in that direction, expecting Seth to follow. "If you break the herd I'll pick off one that comes towards me and then you can follow up and help out. Sound good?

She nodded at him, breaking the herd would be easy. They'd scatter and they could pick out the weak and the young. She was already following him until they reached the herd. Already she was scoping out the herd for signs of weakness. It was obvious they had young, but it was a bit harder to tell who was weak.
"See any weaknesses besides the young?" She asked, watching crouched on her belly.

"That dark tan one has a lamed foot." Lusala pointed with his paw. He was older and more experienced then she was at spotting things about his prey. "Give me ten to get in position then break them. Don't worry, I'll do all the hard work." he teased and then with his belly close to the ground went off through the tall grass to get in position.
It was so much easier to hunt with multiple people. That was part of the reason he'd let the leopardess join his wandering. There was a certain amount of pride that he had in the fact that he could hunt successfully on his own, but hunting with another saved energy and bother.
He got himself into just the right position and waited for Seth to break the herd.

She broke out, giving a roar to startle the beasts into running. Her green eyes watched the one with the lame foot as well as keeping an eye out for Lusala. They made a great team she noted. Still she was hot on the heels of the wildebeest, careful of course because any one of those brutes could easily gore her. Honestly today she didn't feel like dying for a meal. That's when she could feel him coming, even under the rush of stampeding hooves and the clatter on the ground. Lusala was coming to make the kill. Once more she roared, chasing away those who straggled around the lame one, trying to protect it. Now they were leaving.
"Come on Lu!" Turning now to chase the lame beast, he'd get a hook on it and she'd shred it.
Helping bring down the beast she licked her maw. Oh how amazing it was to have gotten that kill and now to share it with the male. Glorious.
"Thank you Lu." She said to the other after she was full of the creature they had taken down. They would travel a bit longer before she would decide to stray away from the male. Happy though for the companionship while it had lasted but all in all she would need to spread out. Get to know others.
She'd miss him though once she left. Spending a bit longer with him before bidding her adieus to the male. Maybe she'd meet up with him again.
