the petals fall to the ground

my mind races faster than light

half gone are the petals and my hope

the pollen mocks me to look ahead

Am I to fat?
To big breasted?
To short?
To pimply?
Why doesn’t she like me?
Because I’m not from around here?
My past?
My attitude?
My family?
Why doesn’t she like me?
My smarts or lack thereof?
Because I love you?
The age difference?
It drives me insane
I can’t just not worry about it
She influences the whole family
They are the family I have always wanted

Fairytales Not
Tales that’s all they are
No one ever lives happily ever after
If you kiss a frog you don’t get a prince
A guy can’t climb up a girl’s hair
There aren’t wicked step-moms and stepsisters turning you into a slave
Do you ever see any fairies around?
I don’t think so
No one has a fairy god mother
Mice don’t turn into horses and humans
Pumpkins don’t turn into carriages
Seven little dwarfs don’t live in the woods
If you p***k your finger on a spinning wheel you don’t fall asleep
There is not a man stealing from the rich and giving to the poor
Wells are for water not for wishing
You don’t find a handsome prince to marry
Tales that’s all they are

My Burden
This is my job
Taking others burdens
Always a shoulder for a sob
I carry them in these cans

So little yet so heavy
I always drop at least one
There is no need for pay
It would add to this
You can save for a rainy day

Birthday

Rollerblading, screaming this at the top of our lungs
It’s her sweet sixteen, we get weird looks

We laugh and smile
How were we supposed to know this was her last birthday with me?
It’s her eighteenth soon
No one is rollerblading around screaming and singing

My Prince Charming
Doesn’t ride a white horse, drives a pickup
Isn’t a prince, is a country boy
Isn’t magazine handsome, is bigger with a gruff exterior
Isn’t rich in money, is rich in friends and kindness instead
Doesn’t want a princes, wants a sweet girl who will love him
Isn’t prissy and clean, has dirt under his nails and is never prissy
Doesn’t rely on others, does stuff for himself
Doesn’t care what others think, forms his own opinions and sticks to them
Isn’t one to beat the bad guy just because, doesn’t fight unless he has to
My prince charming isn’t from a fairytale, is right here in the real world
