User ImageZotikos sat in the middle of the sun-drenched field, humming merrily to himself. Though it was already well into autumn, Dysis' preferred season, the grass here was only green during spring's new growth. Summer and autumn it was a burnish gold, and in winter it turned a sad brown. With the bright gold stalks waving about and the sun shining down out of a clear, blazing blue sky, one could almost fool oneself into thinking it still summer.

Almost. There was a slight bit in the wind, and the forest was near enough that it carried the smoky autumn scent with it. And soon winter...

Zotikos sighed, then quickly rebuked himself. He wasn't here to be depressed! Actually, quite the opposite. This was a meeting place, for a few days ago he'd met an interesting vixen named Silver. He was quite interested in getting to know her better, and they certainly had enough common interests to make a start at it. He'd promised her he'd dance for her when they were in a more private setting, and there'd even been hints at a flying trip together!

Zotikos grinned, ruffling all his feathers in excitement and peering around for any tell-tale dark spots among the golden grass.

So pretty... Silver couldn't help admire the beautiful golden colors that danced around the field as she was soon to see her new friend do. She loved to dance herself, and had done her best to persuade Zo into dancing for her when he revealed he loved it too. Unfortunately the winged male had been shy and set a later date.

The vixen giggled out loud at the word 'date'.

The giggle kicked in the playfulness inside her, and she began pouncing her way through the waving gold. What did she pounce on? Anything that moved beneath her nose, be it bug, mouse, or simply her own shadow. Her shadow was the main thing she chased across the grass, laughing and giggling and singing to herself as she went. Absently the sparkly vixen hoped Narci would be there and also hoped he wouldn't be. Narci was the opposite of Zo, cold and distant while Zo was happy and warm, but everybody needed friends! Besides, it was sooooo neat being a normal and hanging out with a Daeva and a Phim at the same time, even though she had to sheepishly admit it was the Phim's company she preferred.

Speaking of, Silver suddenly felt eyes on her. Looking up, she grinned ear to ear as she spotted a sunflower way to high to be rooted in the ground, even if it was perched atop over grown grass. With ears. And wings. And bright green eyes. "Hey Zo!" The bouncy black vixen called out, "You match the scenery!" Laughing, she raced through the grass to pounce him to the ground.

Zo laughed merrily, both because Silver was finally here and at what she'd said. "Let no one dare accuse me of not have a sense of fashion," he said in mock-prideful tones and putting his nose in the air for good measure. The ridiculousness of the image he must have presented had in breaking down in laughter again, and now he turned warm eyes on Silver.

Zo never understood why green was classified as a cool color. After all, you only saw greens when it was warm. Likewise, brown considered a warm color when you saw most of it while it was cold. It was all very odd. No matter what temperature assignment one gave out to the colors though, Zo had never seen a warmer green than Silver's eyes.

"I'm glad you found me okay though, I do blend in a bit too well, don't I," he asked, looking down at the gold around him and at the golds that made up the majority of his coat.

Silver skidded to a halt, laughing at Zo's goofy stance as he puffed up his chest and stuck up his nose. That was something she loved about Zo, he was just as silly as she!

He was right, though, with his tail on the ground only his bright green eyes and sunflower gave him away. "Well, I've never known these things to grow so tall!" She batted playfully at the flower. "It was kind of a give-a-way, heehee!" Tail wagging and grinning, she set about stomping an area of grass down flat, humming merrily as she went.

Zo looked seriously at Silver for a moment. "Have you never seen a sunflower field before," he asked, voice quieter now that it wasn't pitched with excitement. "They grow to be taller than me, depending on the variety." He reached up and lightly tapped at the flower that was securely tucked behind his ear. "This came from such a place. The flowers there were so tall I had to fly to get it, unless I wanted to trample the plant."

Silver stopped and stared at him for a moment, eyes wide. "No way. Really?" Her tail wagged in excitement. "I've really never seen a sunflower field before! Can you take me some day?" Gleefully, she bounded off a little ways and came back with a bag she had dropped when she saw him. Dropping the bag lightly, she pawed out the contents. "Of course, right now we have some dancing to do!"

Out of the bag spilled some odd things that smelled of humans. Silver pointed to them, describing them in turn as a music player and speakers that ran off of little cylinder things. "I got them from a human boy in an alley way!" She giggled.

Zo tilted his head, his expression bemused, and poked at the objects on the ground. "A human kit gave you these? How on earth do they help you to dance?" Since Zo had never been near a city himself and had no notion how humans did things, he found the whole contrapion utterly bizarre.

Silver giggled. "Wellllllll we kind of had a dance off and I won." The vixen blushed, proud but not one to brag. Smiling, she punched a button on the player and music came out of it. It was a fun beat, one you'd find in a human club in the city.

Grinning at Zo, she challenged him. "Lets see those moves of yours, Flyboy!~"

Zo stared at the device in further bafflement, even starting a little when it first began to pour out sound. He shook his head, not sure what to make of the noise. It wasn't altogether unpleasant, but it was very different.

"I've never danced to something like this before," he said, looking doubtful.

((Just making sure you know, Modi's are like dogs. Can't speak to or understand humans, we can't speak to or understand them.))

Silver grinned. "Just let the beat fill your body. That's what I do!" Silver punched more buttons until she figured out how to change the sound, and found one she liked. "Ah-ha! Here we go~"

The vixen plastered a goofy half-serious half-silly look on her face and swished her tail to the beat. Then her butt. Then her body. Then her head. Before long she was busting moves and laughing at herself, trying to coax her feathered friend to join her. "Dance with me, Zo! Dance with me!"

((it was more like, he was dancing, she came up to him and danced, he danced, she danced... unspoken kind of thing lol. she won when the human laughed and walked away, shaking his head in amusement. -thought this through yup yup- XD))

Zo shook his head, still looking doubtful, but the motion wasn't a negative one. He stood there for a moment, listening to the song with a furrow of concentration upon his brow, green eyes burning intensely.

Before this he'd always dancing to the music provided by nature, which had a much slower pace. He would then speed up or keep it slow depending on his mood, and there were always points were a dance could begin. This music, it felt like trying to jump in and swim a swift stream without stumbling, or you'd go under and be lost.

Finally Zo found a common enough point where he could get started. He always began a dance with his feet, swaying lightly from side to side while his feet began to tap a tempo of their own. After a moment the tempo picked up, his movements a bit faster and more obvious, his body making short, abrupt movements of its own rather than just swaying. It was difficult, but he was finding a path in the music and working his way through.

Zo was concentrating so hard on finding a rhythem that he forgot everything else around him.

The vixen kept her eye on Zo as she was dancing, and had to laugh at his concentrating. "You're thinking too hard!" She laughed delightfully. Still swishing her tail in twirls and sways, Silver moved her paws to a more prancing rhythm and began dancing around the winged male, her head bouncing back and fourth, her paws high stepping and sometimes moving her in a twirl.

"Don't think! Feel~ Like when something makes you happy, you don't think about smiling, you just smile. When you fly, do you think 'flap up, flap down, flap up, flap down,' or do you just fly?" She laughed again, flicking a wing with her tail. "I can see if I can change the sound again?" Maybe he needed a different beat?

Zo's concentration broke, and with it the rhythm that he's managed to build up to so far. He stopped, frowning in frustration. "There are also different currents to the air," he counted, continuing with the analogy of flight that Silver had used. "Flight through calm skies requires little of my attention, but flight through turbulent winds requires me to pay the utmost of attention to every little thing I do, lest I be knocked from the sky with a giant swatting a bug."

He gave the odd device Silver had brought a pointed look. "That music is like turbulent air to me. It has set beats and rhythms, and my style of dance does not seem to naturally coincide with it."

He spread his wings wide, gesturing silently to the world about him. "I dance to the tune of the wind and the songs of animals, and create my own music.

Silver giggled and shut the thing off. She herself loved to dance to it, but she had frequented the city quite often. It was easy to see what Zo meant about turbulent wind and the beat of the music. She herself didn't quite get the music of nature. Nature to her was a peaceful thing, or sometimes an exciting thing when a thunderstorm hit. But musical?

Nope, she just didn't get it.

"Well then, Fly Boy," She smiled up at him, eyes sparkling and tail wagging. "Show me how it's done!"

Zotikos tilted his head, a half smile playing around his lips. He didn't know if Silver would hear the same music he did, not if she had to look outside herself to create a beat. His music came from within. Maybe he could convey some of that in his dance, at least.

For a moment he stood there, greens eye closed, emptying his mind of everything except for sound. After a few breaths he began picking up small things you had to listen for. Such as the wind, which wasn't a consistant noise but rather had a variety of depth as it went through grain in the field and trees at the edge of it. The whistling songs of birds, the digging of animals through leaves and earth. His own breath and heartbeat, as well as what he could hear from Silver...

Still in the trance of sound, Zotikos began to move. He spread his wings wide and used them in a more decorative sense, weaving and dipping so that the feathers gleamed in the sunlight, twisting into new positions when half-obscured by their cover, snapping them forward when he made sudden stops and direction changes.

There wasn't much of a pattern to the way Zotikos moved; he simply went from stance to stance as his muscles and the sounds took him.
