Vanessa or Nessa as her parents called her, was sitting at a table in the common room. Her attention was on a mask in front of her. She was trying to fix up the mask she had brought to school with her and trying to get a charm to work on it so that it would twinkle. She had studied this charm and it was in her skill level but it wasn't quite happening yet. "Dang it all..." she said as she tied once more and it seemed to sparkle a little but it wasn't doing what it was supposed to. "Oh poo on you too!" she said as she crossed her arms and pushed her colored hair back and sighed. She looked up as Odette, her owl, flew in to her gripping a box of cookies from her mother. "Oh mom you shouldn't have..." she said softly as she opened the box to see cookies frosted to look like a badger.

 Clover had been going over some old drawings. She knew the other Hufflepuf was here. She glanced up and put her pencil back into her art kit. She looked at the owl that landed on the table next to the girl and smiled. "My what a lovely owl." she said then looked at the mask "Might I ask what it was you where trying to do?" she asked going over from the soft chair to the table setting the sketch book down on the table it open to a picture of a Border Collie.
Dubhán came out of no where and jumped up onto the table and laid on the sketch book staring at the mask that the blond girl had. Clover looked at the cat and chuckled once. "I'm Clover Heartwel and this is Dubhán." she said petting the black cat.

Nessa smiled at the voice as she looked up while eating a cookie. "Oh im tryin' ta gef it ta sparfle." she said around the cookie as she brushed the crumbs off her hands and offered one to Clover in greeting. Finishing her bite of cookie and taking it with her free hand she laughed. "I'm Vanessa Hobbert. But everyone calls me Nessa, or Van i guess depends which you would rather." she said with a laugh. She looked at Odette and smiled. "Thanks. My aunts did that to her when she was little. I don't know how but they have a business dealing in animals and making them 'beautiful'." she said with a smile. "They say the muggles call it 'bling'. I dunno what that means though." she said with a smile. "This is Odette though." she said as the owl eyed the cat and clicked her beak before flying to the back of Nessa's chair and started to play with the girls blond hair.
"Would you like a cookie? my mom made them." she said with a smile. "Oh and im sorry again but i said 'i'm trying to make it sparkle', i didn't mean to talk with cookie in my mouth." she said brightly wondering if she was talking too much.

Clover smiled and thanked her as she took the cookie. "Home made, always better." she said more to herself. "Oh bling? It's an ambelsment. Normally something shinny like Dubhán's neck chain." she said with a nod. "My Grandma is Muggle and so are the workers on her and Grand-da's farm. Except of course My Grand-da and My Ma.... when she lived there. I like it there more then the city most of the time."
She then looked at her kit. "I might be able to help you get it to sparkle..." she said going into her kit. "No... no... that's not it... ahhh." she said pulling out a glitter pen. "Muggles got some of the best art stuff but My Grand-da made me some paints that he made them look like they where muggle paint pens." she said with a smile. Dubhán tail twitched up and down only at the tip as he laid on Clover's sketch pad.

Nessa finished her cookie as she listened to the other girl talk about her family and a farm. She knew the feeling, she loved being in her mothers green house which was as close to a farm as she could get even though she lived just outside of London. She looked at the pen and smiled. "Paint? thats paint? Its just what i wanted! May i?" she asked as she reached for the pen not wanting to assume that the female was offering her the pen. "What do your grandparents grow out there?" she asked as she smiled and glanced at Dubhan. Odette started to preen her wings and then settled down for a nap.

Clover smiled "Yeah, the glitter will change color. I don't use it often but you can use it on your mask." she said handing the glitter pin to her. "Lets see.. Cucumber in one patch, corn in another. At least this year. We got another patch resting. Got some apple and plum trees, a few cows, pigs, and chickens. Mostly sheep though. Wool is our main crop." she said thinking. "Oh and Bella, she's the sheep dog on the farm." she chucked "There's a small lake near by too. I think we could grow more stuff if Grandma aloud magic... though I still think Grand-da does behind her back a few times. Especially during interviews with some potential farm hands." basically saying that she thought he used a truth potion on them.
Clover looked at Nessa "What about you? Your mum or dad have any things." she asked she was actually liking Nessa. She seemed like she could be a lot of fun.

Nessa smiled as she took the glitter pen and started using it while she listened to the other girl talk. It was nice to know that others could talk just as much as she did. She looked at the girl and smiled happily. "Ohh so much you have! Thats wonderful! I love plums. I think its probably my favorite fruit." she said as she made her mask all pretty. "Its so wonderful now! Oh look its changing!" she said with a smile as she laughed. Odette flew up to the window and away to the roost. She smiled and looked at the other girl and nodded. "Mom makes potions and creams from her plants she grows. And dad makes magical watches. He got hurt on a large one he was making for someone so hes still in the hospital and their still trying to regrow all his bones and fix his leg..." she said frowning for a moment.

Clover smiled "Oh that's cool, Sounds like it had a lot of hands." she said with a small nod. "My Ma and Dad do traveling for work. The only thing I don't like about my family is that my Grand-mum is so hard on my Ma because she's a half blood. That's why I prefer the contery life to the city life. It doesn't seem as resent... though Muggles think magic is the thing of make believe." she said with a simi-forced chuckle. "My Grandma knows about magic she just thinks it makes life to easy. 'Don't get the same feeling with when taking care of things if you fores it' She says from time to time." she smiled "Your Dad will be out by the next time you go home. Bones are easier fixed with magic after all." she added to put Nessa at ease.

Clover smiled at her and nodded. "yeah its nice. And what do your parents travel for? Selling things or fixing things?" She asked happily as she watched the girl and nodded. She took another cookie and took a bite. "Yeah i know. I'm just worried still. I don't like that he was even hurt in the first place. I hope he doesn't have problems it this clock anymore. He should be out by tomorrow the note said with my cookies." she said with a smile as she looked over the note again and smiled. "So what do you do around here for fun?" She asked as she put the last of the cookie in her mouth.

Clover smiled "They sell and buy things." she said with a shrug. "It's understandable that you are worried about him. He's your family." she then thought about what it did she did for fun. "I draw and talk with my friends. I go outside and enjoy the sun." she said not really putting to much thought into it. "Oh I'm working on making a new club with a friend of mine too." she added remembering it.

Vanessa smiled at her and nodded. "Hes some of the best family i have too. I'm close with my dad. Even if others find him weird with his fascination for clocks." She said with a laugh as she watched the girl as she told her what she enjoyed. She nibbled on her cookie some more and smiled. "Oh i love being creative. Its lots of fun. I'm not the best at drawing but i try. I like decorating more. And the sun is always enjoyable when i get a moment to come out." she tried so hard in all her classes that she liked an spend so much time reading and messing with the various blank masks that she had she often forgot to go outside and enjoy the sun. "Oh your making a club! That sounds fun! Is she a good friend of yours?" she asked, she didn't have anyone here that she considered a good or best friend yet.

Clover smiled "Well that's alright." she chuckled "Decorating is always good." she said with a thought off the side.
Clover nodded "Yeah" she chuckled "He and I are good friends actually." she said realizing she didn't actually mention who it was. "Dorian from Slytherin... and it's a running club that we are working on making."

She smiled and laughed a little. "Oh yes. Decorating is what gets me through everything really. I think i would die if i lost my masks and supplies." she said with a smile as she blushed. "Oh a he. I'm sorry i called him a girl. And that sounds fun! I'd like to watch sometimes. I'm not much for running. Flying is more fun for me but i do like watching. And i'll make a special mask for watching you!"she said with a laugh as she held her not yet finished mask up over her eyes and giggled.

Clover chuckled "You're a flyer huh? Well running's not for everyone I guess, And you don't really run out of breath when flying. Though A mask for watching races?" she laughed a little more 'Sounds like fun."

Vanessa smiled at her and nodded. "Yeah not unless you fly too high and run out of air." She said with a smile. She looked at the mask in her hand and smiled. "Well what would you like your mask to look like? I might even be able to make it so theres a zoom on it so you can see when the fliers are too far away." she said with a smile as she looked at her. "Does that sound like a good plan?" she asked with a smile.
