Well it had been a series of unfortunate events for Cedar. She had just moved into her building, and she was able to rent the shop she had her eye on, and the landlord was wonderful. Or so she thought. The first week was great, but then it started. Cedar was growing a bit paranoid, she felt like she was being watched... She told the landlord she was going back to the farm that weekend and glanced over her shoulder as she left town. Her horse walked gently at an easy pace, when out of no where, she hear a swooping sound.

The voices of the forest yelled at her, as she turned around, to see what they were talking about... She was smacked in the head, and fell off her horse.

These were the events that put her where she was right now. Tied to a chair, in the ruins of... What was probably a building in the forest. Her head ached and a groan slipped from her lips, her eyes only saw blurred figured for a short time. The witch felt drowsy, and let her head hang, listening to the sounds around her.

A gentle breeze took the voices of the trees... Telling her of the Witch Eater that had taken her there. It turned out to be her landlord...

It seemed that he was getting more and more requests to investigate simple kidnappings than he liked. Honestly if one wanted to send someone to save a witch of some sort couldn't they have sent just a normal Reaper instead? Typically he was reserved for more... Infestation-related matters in which the quantity of Witch Eaters would make such an encounter lethal for a normal Reaper. Perhaps they simply wanted to get him out of Poena Privus for a while or they were simply short on Reapers. Whatever the case Cruor found himself on the rather obvious trail of a Witch Eater that had been within the city.

Honestly the Witch Eater was being incredibly sloppy by all measures. He'd already found the horse, murmuring a soft incantation to calm the poor beast. Tangling the reins in a gauntlet-encased fist he led the horse along, his eyes roaming over the ground as he tracked using sight and magic as well as scent. Finally he came to to a building, small, worse for wear, and not the least bit inconspicuous. With a soft snort he tied the horse to a tree a few yards away before wrapping himself in shadow, disappearing from sight.

No originality this days.., he mused mentally as he circled the building, his footsteps silent as he searched for a way in.

Hostage situations always irritated him to a degree. Hostages always made things more complicated especially since they were not allowed civilian causalities. That meant he couldn't just burn the place with the Witch Eater inside and have a swig of good malt liquor while he watched. No, it meant that he had to be careful, had to make sure that the Witch Eater didn't slit her throat when he heard him coming through the door. However as he peered through a window he couldn't help but sigh softly at the way the Witch Eater had positioned himself. Right next to a window across from the victim? Now that was just plain reckless and arrogant.

Cruor saw his chance when the Witch Eater turned as if to leave. He gripped the top of the windowsill and quickly propelled himself forward, shoving his legs through first, shattering the window and completely ruining the frame. As soon as he landed he drew and transformed his scythe, lunging for the stunned Witch Eater and shoving it through him with a sickening crack; must've been the spine, oh well. Using his blade he shifted it to remove the hearts and the seed, sealing them away in his gauntlet. As the light faded from the Witch Eater's eyes he snorted and removed his weapon, attaching it to his back.

His gaze swung to the dazed but seemingly intact girl that was tied to the chair, drawing a knife from a sheath on his thigh to begin to cut her free. From what he could tell she had her heart and was simply drained but also didn't seem to have any form of weapons on her; what was she doing out, alone, and without a weapon when there were Witch Eaters around. Finally he finished cutting through the ropes and reached up to shake her as gently as he could manage; he really hoped she didn't try to hug him or start crying... He hated the criers.

"Hey. Can you hear me? We need to get you on your feet." Cruor muttered, grimacing; there was no way he was carrying her while covered in blood. "Come on. Your horse is outside."

Cedar's form was limp, alive but limp her eyes had no soul in them. But before she could make her move someone came crashing through the window. It was like an action scene from a moving. He swooped in and kicked some a**, the tree's bristled, whatever he was he would be more dangerous to her soulless form then the witch eater.

As the tree's settled back her soul slipped away and returned to her body, just as he began to 'gently' shake her. Her head shot up and she gasped for air. Her heart pounded from the fear that something could have gone wrong. Focusing on her body, she felt that nothing was wrong, and she looked over at him.

"Do you normally just go around shaking random people?" She said sharply, the fear of waking from her trance before her soul arrived had filled her, but she realized that she had uncharacteristically snapped at the man who it seemed just saved her. She gave her head a shake and there was a sudden throbbing feeling, raising a hand to her head and she touched where it hurt and felt the sticky semi dried blood.

"I'm sorry.." She laughed nervously. She didn't like anyone knowing of her fear. "I think I'm okay. My head hurts a fair amount. You know that guy was my landlord! Damn it. I even lent him my good whisk." With a small grumble. "Oh you found my horse? Good... I was a bit worried someone would take her. She's been with me, since she was a foal." She placed her hands on the chair and she pushed herself up.

There was a little bit of a struggle, but she refused to let herself seem weak right now. "Speaking of, or rather not. What... exactly are you?" She hadn't seen anyone like him before and realized he could still be a threat to her, but he seemed like he was there to help. Though a 'knight' wasn't exactly what she was expecting. She figured she would either save herself or die. This seemed a little to coincidental.

Cruor's crimson eyes narrowed at the retort, his patience beginning to wear thing already; he wasn't know for being patient. "Yes, if I don't want to drag their unconscious body around."

He listened to her taking, lifting a brow before taking a step back to give her room to hoist herself out of the chair. As she did so he took inventory of the room, looking for anything of importance or any stolen relics that the dead Witch Eater would no longer needed. Finding nothing of immediate value he snorted and moved over to the dead man, using his foot to roll his corpse over, eyes narrowed as he stared down at him. It seemed that Witch Eaters were rising in number these days, something that was more than a little unnerving. Shaking his head he lifted his palm to hover over the body, urging it to burn, flame blazing to life across the dead man.

"You should never go out after dark alone and unarmed." Cruor admonished, turning back to her. "Just because I happened to be in the area doesn't mean you'll be as lucky next time."

His eyes went from the broken window, to the girl that obviously wasn't at 100% strength just yet, and back again, his gaze moving to the door nearby. It was bolted shut so it was good that he hadn't had to spend ages picking that open, but now he had to undo it all; there was no way this girl was going to make it through the window in her current state without slicing herself open and he wasn't going to shove her through a window. He might have been gruff but he had some manners.

"I'm a Blackheart." he answered as he undid the locks and opened the door before turning back to her. "Typically I don't go after such weak targets. It's your lucky day I suppose. If you can walk, then let's get out of here."

"Whoever said I was out at night unarmed?" She tossed at him as she easily stood up, and did a mild stretch. The aches from being tied strangely wearing off. Striding her way over toward him and the door, she rolled her eyes. "What a wonderful knight in not so shining Armor." Stepping outside her olive eyes fell on her horse.

She was glad to find her friend was safe, her ears suddenly filling with the voices of the the forest. It looked like an entire day had gone by. She looked around and suddenly felt a little grimy at the idea. She had left before noon time, and should have reached the farm by dark, but she remembered coming to and it was dark and cold in the room she was in. But when the morning came the light shown through. Shading her eyes from the sun she took in a breath of fresh air.

Turning to the Black Heart, Cedar considered him. Regardless she did have to thank him. "Well, thank you for helping me out of that." Though she had a feeling had there not been a witch eater he would have just left her there. "For that I am certainly grateful. If you're ever in Makai stop by my shop and I'll cook you something you like."

Walking over to her horse and ran her hand along her neck. "I'm sure you have more important things to be doing then dawdling around here."

Cruor arched a brow at the comment about being unarmed but otherwise didn't say anything; it wasn't any of his business what she kept under her dress. He gavee a small snort at the next comment, watching her walk through the door and towards her horse. Once she was far enough away he called upon his magic easily, using his pyromancy to cause flames to crawl over the wood and catch, setting it ablaze.

"You know..." he mused, striding towards her, looking mildly amused. "If it's a knight in shining armor you wanted, you should wear a sign that says 'Cerberus Knights only, please.'"

When she thanked him his eyes turned away, contemplative, examining the rising sun with a small frown before he glanced back at her. She most likely wouldn't really need an escort, but considering everything that had happened it couldn't hurt to offer. After all, Blackhearts had duties and codes to uphold just like the Cerberus Knights, they just deliberated less on the necessity of killing.

"You're welcome." he answered absently, arching a brow at her comment about having something better to do; well, he supposed if she didn't want his company... "My job is to protect people and kill those that may cause them harm. I don't really consider anything else much more important."

She seemed to harbor the same viewpoints that many Witches seemed to have about the Reapers and Blackhearts. He was used to the wary looks, the derision, even outright hatred at times and had learned to not let it bother him, not when he was doing what he felt was necessary. Despite that, he felt that he still needed to offer his assistance, whether she cared for his presence or not.

"Do you require an escort?"

Cedar held onto the reins and looks over at the burning building. Her eyes fixing on the flames hoping that they would be contained and not affect the plant life. She tightened her lips, listening to the voices to find out they were all okay and didn't need to be moved before she caught the beginning of his comment.

She give a soft laugh, the knight had made a joke."Not a bad idea, but you know a Black Heart's armor can be just as shiny, so long as it's been polished." She stated with a smile.

"That is true... But still you should be thanked. I have never met a Black Heart before or even seen one until now. You don't seem so bad. " Just like he had been thinking she had heard the stories. People always seemed to fear the Black Hearts but they just extremists in a way. And Cedar would never judge someone before meeting them if she could help it. She felt the same way about everyone.

With a tap of her index finger to her lips and she took on an understanding expression. She might have been to hasty for multiple reasons. "Well I wouldn't want you to be going out of your way." Her eyes glanced at the flames again. "I'm heading to Clarus Arbor. So I'll leave the choice up to you. Should you choose to come with me, I would be honored." The female had to wonder if he did join her, if she could ask him some questions hoping she wouldn't pry. Some things were personal that people didn't want to share with just anybody.

Raising a hand to try and fix her hair some, and then brush off her dress. Now that she had a few minutes to really process what happened she couldn't help but give a shiver. A witch eater had her tied up... She probably wouldn't have come to in enough time to do anything. Looking around quickly the forest seemed a rather scary and lonely place. Cedar had never left like that, the tree's, rocks... Even the bushes where her friends. But without her magic they couldn't save her.

"No. Same side, different methods." he stated, his tone bland.

It was strange how everyone that looked at a Black Heart or heard their name immediately assumed the worst of them, simply based on rumor and appearance. In all honesty Cruor didn't really care what anyone from the Cities thought of him, especially since he lived in Poena Privus and only ventured to areas not controlled by the Reapers on business. Most of his friends were in the organization and, honestly, he didn't mind if it did or did not stay that way.

"I'll lead you out of the forest and towards the edge of town." he answered with a small shrug of his shoulders. "Cerberus Knights guard the outskirts so there is no reason for me to go any furhter."

Never mind that he wanted to get back to Poena Privus to bathe and clean his armor. Killing Witch Eaters wasn't exactly a clean business and he also needed to deliver the hearts that he'd acquired as well. Going too fart out of his way would cost him time and would, possibly start a confrontation with the Cerberus Knights which he simply didn't have the energy for.

"Are you ready?"

Cedar climbed up and settled into her saddle. She wanted to just go back to Makai but she had business to take care of back at the farm and couldn't let something like this stand in her way. If she started to become afraid now that what was the point in anything?

"Thank you." She took a hold of the reigns and turned her horse down the path toward Clarus. She didn't keep an easy going pace. She had things to do and she had wasted enough time already. Once the black heart had caught up to her she glanced over at him.

"If it's not to much to ask, why did you decide to become a Black Heart?" She had to be curious about why someone would chose that path or rather any path in their life. She would have to make the same choice one day.
